Altuve entered the start of Houston's weekend series against Baltimore having just three hits across his last 28 at-bats and eight starts. He's turned his performance around in three games since, going 5-for-14 with three runs scored and two doubles. Though there are signs of Altuve's skills slipping in his age-35 campaign, he has still maintained a .343 wOBA and 121 wRC+ across 539 plate appearances.

Altuve ripped a two-run jack in the first inning for his 19th of the year. He later drew a walk and knocked a single in his first multi-hit performance since July 30. The Astros have shifted their lineup since the acquisition of Jesus Sanchez and Carlos Correa, and Altuve hit third behind Jeremy Pena and Sanchez on Monday. Altuve reached base on a bunt in the fourth inning and swiped second base, his seventh of the year and first since June 12. He's also hit well since the All-Star break, going 17-for-57 with five RBI and nine runs scored across 15 games.

Astros' Jose Altuve: Logs three hits in loss
Altuve went 3-for-5 with a double, one walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Mariners.
The Astros put together a 12-hit attack, but Altuve's double was the only extra-base hit of the bunch. This was his eighth multi-hit effort across 14 games in July for Altuve, and the veteran is batting .381 (21-for-55) with 10 extra-base hits and 17 RBI this month. That hot stretch has him up to a .279/.337/.464 slash line with 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 52 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple and six stolen bases through 95 contests this season. Altuve continues to pick up time in left field while Brice Matthews gets a look at second base during his first major-league stint, though Matthews has gone just 1-for-12 over his first four games.

Altuve went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rangers.
The first-inning solo shot was Altuve's fifth homer in his last 12 games. In that span, he's added 18 RBI while batting .370 (17-for-46). The 35-year-old has started the last two games in left field while Brice Matthews gets a chance to play second base following his call-up Friday. Altuve has split his time between left field, second base and designated hitter this year. He's now batting .275 with a .799 OPS, 17 homers, 52 RBI, 50 runs scored and six stolen bases over 92 contests.

Altuve has opened July with at least one hit in six of his first eight games, tallying multiple knocks in five of these outings.
