  • Mets' Casey Coleman: Latches on with Mets

Coleman signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Thursday.

Coleman returned to affiliated baseball in 2018 after spending time in the independent Atlantic League, though he struggled to a 6.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 28.2 innings with Triple-A Iowa. Given his career 5.72 ERA across 177.2 major-league innings, Coleman will likely be viewed as an organizational depth piece.

  • Cubs' Casey Coleman: Back in affiliated baseball

Coleman signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Thursday and was assigned to Triple-A Iowa, the Des Moines Register reports.

Coleman had been pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League, recording an 0.96 ERA in seven games (six starts). The 31-year-old last pitched at the major-league level in 2014 and has a career 5.72 ERA in 177.2 big-league innings, but he could now be just an injury or two away from an emergency call-up.

  • Rays' Casey Coleman: Rays sign Coleman

The Rays have signed Coleman and placed him at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 29-year-old right-handed relief pitcher had spent most of 2016 pitching in Tacoma for the Mariners organization. During that stretch, Coleman racked up a 2.08 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 39 innings. He also accumulated four saves for the Rainiers during that stretch. The Rays will likely call on Coleman to pitch in the majors at some point in 2016. He owns a 5.72 ERA in 177.2 career MLB innings with the Cubs and Royals.

  • Mariners' Casey Coleman: Assigned to minor-league camp

Coleman was reassigned to the Mariners' minor league camp Sunday, Shannon Drayer of ESPN 710 AM Seattle reports.

The Mariners brought Coleman into camp as a non-roster invitee, but he was unable to claim a bullpen job with the big club. It sounds as though he's amenable to sticking around with the organization, however, with Triple-A Tacoma his most likely destination to begin the season.

  • Mariners' Casey Coleman: Signs minor league deal with Mariners

Coleman signed a one-year minor league contract with the Mariners on Thursday, Bob Dutton of the News Tribune reports.

Coleman spent the 2015 season at Triple-A Omaha in the Royals' organization, posting a 4.92 ERA with 54 strikeouts and 41 walks over 82.1 innings of work. He did not receive an invite to the Mariners' spring training and will likely start the 2016 campaign at Triple-A Tacoma.
