  • Canucks' Mackenzie MacEachern: Injured to begin camp

MacEachern (undisclosed) is listed as injured on the Canucks' training camp roster released Wednesday.

MacEachern was unlikely to make the Canucks' roster out of camp anyway, and the injury will make that more of an uphill climb. Once healthy, expect the 32-year-old to spend most of the campaign with AHL Abbotsford, assuming he clears waivers.

  • Jan Jenik RW | OTT

    Kings' Jan Jenik: Battling injury

Jenik (undisclosed) is designated with an injury on the training camp roster the Kings released Wednesday.

It's unclear what Jenik is dealing with at this time. The 26-year-old forward was dealt to the Kings in March in a minor-league trade, and he's expected to spend most or all of 2026-27 in the AHL with Ontario. He had 17 points in 43 regular-season AHL games last year.

  • Jesper Bratt LW | NJ

Devils' Jesper Bratt: Solidified in leadership group

Bratt was named an assistant captain for the Devils on Wednesday.

Bratt has worn an 'A' before, but this solidifies his place in the Devils' leadership group. The 28-year-old has been a success story for the team since he was a sixth-round selection in 2016. While he had a bit of a down year in 2025-26 with 22 goals and 49 assists over 82 games, with 71 being his lowest point total in five years, he's poised to play a strong all-around role in 2026-27. He has 80-point potential if he can bounce back.

  • Blue Jackets' Dmitri Voronkov: Good for training camp

Voronkov (hand) is ready for the start of training camp, the team announced Wednesday.

Voronkov didn't play in Columbus' final eight games last year due to the injury. He had 17 goals, 32 points, 59 PIM and 105 hits in 63 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Voronkov is slated to open the upcoming season in a middle-six role.

  • Lightning's Luke Glendening: Returning to Tampa Bay

Glendening signed a professional tryout agreement with the Lightning on Wednesday.

Glendening played for the Lightning in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. In 70 regular-season appearances between New Jersey and Philadelphia last year, he recorded two goals, seven assists, 97 hits, 53 blocked shots and eight PIM while averaging 10:32 of ice time per game. Glendening hasn't had a significant offensive impact in recent years. Still, he could push for a roster spot since Yanni Gourde (hip) and Dominic James (hand) are expected to miss the start of the regular season.

  • Ryan Reaves RW | SJ

    Ryan Reaves: Hangs up skates

Reaves has announced the end of his playing career, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic on Wednesday.

Reaves is hanging up his skates after playing in 962 career NHL regular-season games in which he recorded 66 goals, 140 points, 1,137 PIM and 3,225 hits. He had three goals and 37 PIM in 50 regular-season outings with San Jose last year. The Sharks marked the seventh team he played for in his 16-year NHL career that also included stints with St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Vegas, the Rangers, Minnesota and Toronto.

  • Jack Quinn RW | BUF

Sabres' Jack Quinn: Draws praise ahead of camp

Quinn drew praise from head coach Lindy Ruff on Wednesday ahead of training camp, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.

Quinn appeared in all 82 regular-season games last year and put together a career-best performance with 20 goals, 31 assists, 52 hits, 25 blocked shots and 18 PIM while averaging 15:39 of ice time. Fairburn speculates that Quinn's success could put him in the mix for a top-line role this year, but he displayed chemistry with Ryan McLeod last season and could operate as a middle-six option. Regardless of which line Quinn begins the year on, he should have opportunities to build upon his momentum during the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Jiri Kulich C | BUF

Sabres' Jiri Kulich: Could see increased work early in season

Head coach Lindy Ruff indicated Wednesday that Kulich could step in for Jason Zucker (abdomen) early in the 2026-27 season, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.

Zucker is slated to miss the start of the 2026-27 campaign while recovering from sports hernia surgery, which could lead to increased early-season opportunities for Kulich. The 22-year-old Kulich made 12 regular-season appearances for Buffalo last year and recorded three goals, two assists, 12 blocked shots, nine hits and four PIM while averaging 16:22 of ice time.

  • Sabres' Tage Thompson: Could begin camp as No. 1 center

Head coach Lindy Ruff indicated Wednesday that he wants to begin training camp with Thompson working as the Sabres' No. 1 center, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.

Thompson has spent time on the wing and in the middle, but the Sabres seem interested in seeing how the lineup would fare with him centering the top line. Thompson made a career-high 81 regular-season appearances last year. He racked up 40 goals, 41 assists, 85 hits, 48 blocked shots and 35 PIM while averaging 19:15 of ice time per game. Regardless of where he lines up in 2026-27, the 28-year-old should continue to have plenty of opportunities to contribute.

  • Jake Walman D | EDM

Oilers' Jake Walman: Hopes to showcase improved conditioning

Walman said Wednesday that he focused on his conditioning during the offseason, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.

Walman made only 53 regular-season appearances in his first full campaign with the Oilers last year. He recorded eight goals, 12 assists, 90 blocked shots, 15 hits and 10 PIM while averaging 18:45 of ice time per game. He reportedly looked slightly lighter on the eve of training camp Wednesday, and he'll try to be more durable in 2026-27 while moving to help his teammates push the pace offensively.
