Jaxson Stauber G | UTA
Mammoth's Jaxson Stauber: Placed on waivers
Stauber was put on waivers Wednesday with the intention of reassigning him to AHL Tucson.
Stauber had a 3.07 GAA and an .889 save percentage in 36 regular-season appearances with AHL Tucson in 2025-26. The 27-year-old was never expected to make Utah's Opening Night roster. Karel Vejmelka is set to enter the campaign as Utah's No. 1 option, while Sebastian Cossa is likely to get the backup role.

Cameron Hebig C | UTA
Mammoth's Cameron Hebig: Put on waivers
Hebig was placed on waivers Wednesday for the purpose of being assigned to AHL Tucson.
Hebig was part of Utah's initial training camp roster, but he was always a long shot to make the NHL squad. The 29-year-old had 25 goals and 54 points in 68 regular-season appearances with Tucson in 2025-26.

Aleksei Kolosov G | PHI
Flyers' Aleksei Kolosov: Allows four goals in relief
Kolosov turned aside 14 of 18 shots in a 5-1 preseason loss to the Bruins on Tuesday.
Kolosov entered Tuesday's preseason matchup in the first period after Dan Vladar exited due to an upper-body injury. While Kolosov wasn't particularly sharp, he could be Joseph Woll's backup at the start of the regular season if Vladar's injury forces him to miss time. Kolosov made 21 regular-season appearances for the Flyers across the past two seasons, going 5-11-1 with a 3.64 GAA and an .863 save percentage.

Dmitry Orlov D | SJ
Sharks' Dmitry Orlov: Picks up an assist in exhibition game
Orlov registered an assist in a 2-1 shootout loss to Vegas in Tuesday's preseason action.
Orlov's helper came off Michael Misa's power-play goal. The 35-year-old Orlov set a career high with 37 points in 82 regular-season appearances with San Jose in 2025-26, largely due to his 18 power-play points. Orlov might retain his spot on the Sharks' top power-play unit when the 2026-27 campaign starts, but he'd be occupying that role because San Jose lacks good options. If Sam Dickinson develops as hoped, then he might snatch that job away from Orlov. Jacob Trouba and Luca Cagnoni might also get looks on the top power-play unit.

Yaroslav Askarov G | SJ
Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Solid in exhibition loss
Askarov turned aside 22 of 23 shots in regulation in a 2-1 shootout loss to Vegas in Tuesday's preseason tilt.
Askarov struggled in 2025-26, finishing the regular season with a 21-20-4 record, 3.63 GAA and .883 save percentage in 47 outings with San Jose. However, he's still just 24 years old and is a highly regarded netminder, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him make strides in 2026-27. It helps that San Jose upgraded its defense over the summer by adding Darnell Nurse and Jacob Trouba.
-
Carter Hart G | LV
Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Strong in preseason victory
Hart stopped 28 of 29 shots in regulation en route to a 2-1 shootout win over San Jose in Tuesday's preseason action.
Hart posted an 11-3-3 record, 2.71 GAA and .891 save percentage in 18 regular-season appearances with Vegas in 2025-26. While those numbers leave something to be desired, he stepped up in the 2026 playoffs, posting a 14-8 record, 2.56 GAA and .907 save percentage in 22 starts to help the Golden Knights reach the Stanley Cup Finals. That strong postseason solidified his position as Vegas' No. 1 goaltender going into the 2026-27 campaign. Adin Hill is expected to enter the season as Hart's understudy.

Dakota Joshua C | TOR
Maple Leafs' Dakota Joshua: Dealing with core muscle injury
Joshua is dealing with a core muscle injury and remains day-to-day, Luke Fox of Sportsnet reports Wednesday.
Joshua's availability for the Opening Night clash with the Canadiens on Sept. 29 remains in doubt. If the 30-year-old winger makes the lineup, he will likely play a bottom-six role and could challenge for the 20-point threshold after missing it in each of the previous two seasons.

Thomas Chabot D | OTT
Senators' Thomas Chabot: Rejoins squad
Chabot (personal) rejoined the Senators for Wednesday's morning skate, per TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Chabot missed Monday's preseason opener to be with his wife as they get ready to welcome the birth of their first child. He had seven goals, 31 points, 22 PIM, 36 hits and 111 blocks in 57 regular-season appearances with Ottawa in 2025-26. He's expected to serve in a top-four capacity again this campaign.
-
Ben Gleason D | DAL
Benjamin Gleason: Released from PTO
Gleason has been released by Dallas from his professional tryout agreement, and he signed an AHL contract with Texas on Wednesday.
Gleason had two goals and 22 points in 59 regular-season appearances with AHL Iowa in 2025-26. As a free agent regarding NHL eligibility, the 28-year-old defenseman cannot be called up unless he signs a two-way contract.

Spencer Martin G | NYR
Rangers' Spencer Martin: On waivers Wednesday
Martin will be waived by the Rangers on Wednesday, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic.
Martin had a 3.51 GAA and an .873 save percentage in 22 regular-season appearances with AHL Hartford in 2025-26. The 31-year-old is also a veteran of 72 career regular-season NHL outings, in which he's posted a 25-33-8 record, 3.60 GAA and .881 save percentage. Martin is expected to start the upcoming campaign in the minors if he clears waivers.
