  • Maple Leafs' Ryan Tverberg: Waived by Toronto

Tverberg was waived by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Tverberg signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs in early July and will head to AHL Toronto for the start of the regular season if he clears waivers. Across 63 regular-season appearances with the Marlies last year, he logged 15 goals, 21 points and 36 PIM.

  • Senators' Leevi Merilainen: Lands on waivers

Merilainen was put on waivers by Ottawa on Thursday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Merilainen had an 8-10-1 record, 3.51 GAA and .860 save percentage in 20 regular-season appearances with the Senators in 2025-26. Samuel Ersson signed a two-year, $4.4 million contract with the Senators over the summer, and he's expected to begin the season as the No. 2 goaltender behind Linus Ullmark. If either of Ersson or Ullmark suffers an injury during the campaign, then Merilainen might be summoned.

  • Henry Rybinski RW | WAS

Maple Leafs' Henrik Rybinski: Hits waivers

Rybinski was put on waivers by Toronto on Thursday, per James Mirtle of The Athletic.

Rybinski inked a two-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs over the summer. He had 10 goals and 30 points in 59 regular-season appearances with AHL Hershey in 2025-26. The 25-year-old hasn't made his NHL debut.

  • Maple Leafs' Marshall Rifai: Lands on waivers Thursday

Rifai was placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Rifai has spent most of the past few seasons in the minors, and he'll be left off the Maple Leafs' Opening Night roster once again prior to the 2026-27 campaign. He made 20 regular-season appearances for AHL Toronto last year and recorded no goals, five assists, 30 PIM and a plus-8 rating.

  • Maple Leafs' Philippe Myers: Placed on waivers

Myers was put on waivers by Toronto on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Myers had two assists and 22 PIM in 39 regular-season outings with the Maple Leafs in 2025-26. Although he got a fair amount of work at the top level last year, that's because Toronto dealt with significant injuries to its blue line. If the Maple Leafs have better luck on the injury front this season, then Myers might spend the vast majority of the campaign in the minors.

  • Maple Leafs' Brendan Brisson: Waived by Toronto

Brisson was placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Brisson agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs in early September after he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from the Rangers during the offseason. He'll be left off the Maple Leafs' Opening Night roster and will head to AHL Toronto if he clears waivers.

  • Maple Leafs' Vinni Lettieri: On waivers

Lettieri was waived by Toronto on Thursday, according to James Mirtle of The Athletic.

Lettieri came up big for AHL Toronto during its 2026 Calder Trophy-winning run, supplying 11 goals and 26 points in 25 playoff outings. He also had 14 goals and 42 points in 55 regular-season appearances with AHL Toronto in 2025-26. Although the 31-year-old is great in the minors, he's unlikely to spend much time, if any, in the NHL this season.

  • Mason Shaw C | MIN

    Wild's Mason Shaw: Hits waivers

Shaw was put on waivers by Minnesota on Thursday.

Shaw had 15 goals, 44 points and 67 PIM in 71 regular-season outings with AHL Manitoba in 2025-26. The 27-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since 2023-24 when he had a goal, three points and 34 PIM in 20 regular-season outings with Minnesota.

  • Wild's Justin Kirkland: Waived by Minnesota

Kirkland was placed on waivers by the Wild on Thursday for the purpose of reassignment to AHL Iowa.

Kirkland is coming off back-to-back years in which he made at least 20 regular-season appearances with Calgary, and he signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild during the offseason. He'll likely spend most of the year in the minors once again, but his NHL experience makes him a candidate to be called up if the Wild need additional depth at some point.

  • Wild's Dylan Gambrell: Put on waivers

Gambrell was placed on waivers by Minnesota on Thursday.

Gambrell had 10 goals and 36 points in 35 regular-season appearances with AHL Iowa in 2025-26. The 30-year-old is likely to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.
