Colton Dach C | EDM
Oilers' Colton Dach: On injured reserve
Dach (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
Dach's placement might be retroactive to when he last played in Edmonton's 3-1 win over Seattle on Saturday. He has no points, two PIM, eight hits and three blocks in three outings this season. His injury coincides with the Oilers' acquisition of Filip Hallander, who might draw into the lineup for Edmonton against Anaheim on Wednesday. If Hallander isn't available so soon after being traded, then Mathieu Joseph might play instead due to the spot in the lineup vacated by Dach.

Bryan Rust RW | PIT
Penguins' Bryan Rust: Off injured reserve
Rust (upper body) was activated off injured reserve ahead of Wednesday's game against the Capitals.
Rust was labeled as a game-time decision, but this announcement indicates that he is ready to make his season debut. He had 29 goals and 65 points in 72 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Rust is projected to serve on the third line alongside Ville Koivunen and Ben Kindel on Wednesday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he ends up taking shifts alongside Sidney Crosby in the near future.

MacKenzie Entwistle RW | FLA
Panthers' Mackenzie Entwistle: Waived Wednesday
Entwistle was taken off the non-roster list and placed on waivers by Florida on Wednesday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Entwistle had five goals, 11 points and 41 PIM in 49 regular-season appearances with AHL Charlotte in 2025-26. The 27-year-old is likely to be reassigned Charlotte if he clears waivers.

Jason Dickinson C | EDM
Oilers' Jason Dickinson: Playing against Ducks
Dickinson (foot) will be in the lineup versus Anaheim on Wednesday, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports.
Dickinson will make his 2026-27 season debut in a second-line role alongside Trent Frederic and Kasperi Kapenen. In 17 regular-season games against the Ducks last year, the 31-year-old center registered one goal, three assists and 21 shots while averaging 15:03 of ice time.

Drew Helleson D | ANA
Ducks' Drew Helleson: Might return Saturday
Helleson (lower body) hopes to return at the end of Anaheim's upcoming road trip, per Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune on Wednesday.
Helleson isn't expected to play Wednesday versus Edmonton or Friday in Winnipeg, but it sounds like he might be an option for Saturday's game in Calgary. Helleson hasn't played this campaign due to the injury. The 25-year-old is likely to serve on the third pairing once he's healthy, possibly at the expense of Noah Warren.

Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Between pipes against Oilers
Dostal will tend the twine at home versus Edmonton on Wednesday, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports.
Dostal is undefeated to start the year, going 2-0-0 with a 2.42 GAA and .918 save percentage. If the 26-year-old netminder continues to see a heavy workload moving forward, he could push for the 30-win threshold, setting a new personal best by surpassing it.

Alexander Romanov D | NYI
Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Has torn ACL
Romanov will miss the next six-to-eight months and undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, the team announced Wednesday.
Romanov's timetable doesn't completely rule him out for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign, but even in a best-case scenario, he would be returning for only the Islanders' final few games. He has no points, a plus-2 rating, three shots, five hits and seven blocks in three outings this year. Romanov's long-term absence creates an opportunity for Scott Mayfield or Matt Kessel to play far more often this campaign than they might have otherwise.

William Wallinder D | DET
Red Wings' William Wallinder: Earns helper in NHL debut
Wallinder logged an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Senators.
Wallinder dressed as a seventh defensemen Tuesday, which could happen on occasion since the Red Wings' forward group has sustained some injuries. The 24-year-old blueliner logged 9:07 of ice time in his NHL debut. Wallinder will likely be limited to third-pairing minutes at best as he adjusts to the NHL.
-
Nate Danielson C | DET
Red Wings' Nate Danielson: Logs first assist of season
Danielson produced an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Senators.
Danielson has opened the season on the fourth line, logging less than 10 minutes of ice time in each of Detroit's first three games. He's added just two shots on net and two PIM from that spot. The 22-year-old center won't carry much fantasy value while he's buried in the lineup, and it wouldn't be surprising for him to end up at AHL Grand Rapids once the Red Wings get healthier up front.

Juraj Slafkovsky LW | MON
Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Tallies late in loss
Slafkovsky scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Hurricanes.
Slafkovsky has played on the second line to begin the year, following the Canadiens' signing of Chris Kreider. The 22-year-old Slafkovsky is still on the top power-play unit and should find success, but he's been limited to one goal, five shots, three hits and a plus-1 rating over three contests. Given his established chemistry with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, it's a bit of a surprise to see Slafkovsky on the second line, but he should benefit the first time there's a shuffle in the Canadiens' top six.
