Arvid Soderblom G | CHI
Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Expected to face Utah
Soderblom is slated to start on the road against Utah on Thursday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Soderblom is drawing into Chicago's second game of the season after Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 36 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to Vegas on Tuesday. Knight's likely to get the majority of Chicago's workload this campaign, but Soderblom should end up accumulating over 25 starts in 2026-27. The 27-year-old Soderblom finished the 2025-26 regular season with an 8-13-3 record, 3.80 GAA and .880 save percentage in 26 outings.

Gabriel D'Aigle G | PIT
Penguins' Gabriel D'Aigle: Sent down to AHL
D'Aigle was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday, per the AHL's official site.
D'Aigle battled an injury during training camp, but this move suggests he's now healthy. He'll be in contention for starts with the minor-league team, though he could also ultimately get loaned back to the QMJHL to get more reps.

Tristan Broz C | PIT
Penguins' Tristan Broz: Heads to AHL
Broz (lower body) was taken off non-roster injured reserve and reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday, per the AHL's official site.
Broz had 16 goals, 39 points and 41 PIM in 47 regular-season appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2025-26. The 23-year-old is expected to spend the majority of the campaign in the minors, but there is a real chance of him getting an opportunity to play for Pittsburgh at some point during 2026-27.

Joey Daccord G | SEA
Kraken's Joey Daccord: Starting season opener
Daccord will tend the road twine versus the Flames on Thursday, per Sound of Hockey.
Daccord will get the nod for the season opener as he tries to bounce back from a down year. He went 20-20-6 with a 3.03 GAA and an .896 save percentage over 47 appearances in 2025-26. Should Daccord struggle again in 2026-27, Philipp Grubauer could push to make Seattle's crease an even rotation of starts.

Taylor Makar LW | COL
Avalanche's Taylor Makar: On AHL club's opening roster
Makar is listed on AHL Colorado's Opening Night roster released Thursday, indicating the forward has been activated from non-roster injured reserve and assigned to the minor-league affiliate.
Makar was banged up in the Avalanche's preseason finale. The 25-year-old should be expected to spend most of the 2026-27 campaign with the Eagles. He had 24 points in 52 regular-season games at the AHL level last year.

Jesper Wallstedt G | MIN
Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Slated to start Thursday
Wallstedt is expected to start on the road against Nashville on Thursday, per Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News.
Wallstedt has an 18-9-6 record, 2.61 GAA and .915 save percentage in 35 regular-season appearances with Minnesota in 2025-26. He's likely to be leaned on heavily at the start of the 2026-27 campaign because Filip Gustavsson (hip) is expected to be out until at least early November. Calvin Pickard will serve as the backup Thursday, and he might get the occasional start during Gustavsson's absence.

Alex Lyon G | BUF
Sabres' Alex Lyon: On injured reserve
Lyon (upper body) was put on injured reserve Thursday, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
Mattias Samuelsson was activated off injured reserve in a corresponding move. Lyon sustained the injury during last Thursday's preseason game. His placement on IR is retroactive, so Buffalo has the option of activating him at any time. Head coach Lindy Ruff stated Tuesday that Lyon is expected to miss at least a couple of days. Meanwhile, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is expected to start in Columbus on Thursday, and Colten Ellis is set to serve as the understudy.

Devin Kaplan RW | PHI
Kraken's Devin Kaplan: Flipped in minor-league deal
Kaplan was traded to the Kraken from the Flyers on Thursday in exchange for David Goyette.
Kaplan has appeared in just one NHL game for the Flyers, and that was back in 2024-25. The 22-year-old winger underwhelmed last year, considering he managed just 13 points in 49 minor-league games with AHL Lehigh Valley. The 2022 third-round pick will link up with AHL Coachella Valley, where he figures to play out his current contract.
-
Zach Hyman LW | EDM
Oilers' Zach Hyman: Set for two-week absence
Hyman (undisclosed) is expected to be out of action for two weeks, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports Thursday.
Based on Hyman's timeline, he should be expected to miss at least the next six games, if not longer. With the veteran forward on the shelf, Max Jones looks set to move into a top-six role, especially with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (lower body) on injured reserve. Once cleared to play, Hyman figures to return to his spot on Connor McDavid's wing, a plum assignment that comes with plenty of production.

Tristan Luneau D | ANA
Ducks' Tristan Luneau: Lands long-term extension
Luneau agreed to a six-year, $43.2 million contract extension with the Ducks on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Luneau has made just 14 regular-season appearances at the NHL level, recording two goals, two assists, 15 hits, 14 blocked shots and six PIM while averaging 16:51 of ice time. He spent most of last year at AHL San Diego, where he generated 10 goals, 31 assists and 29 PIM across 70 regular-season appearances. The 22-year-old should see a more regular role with Anaheim during the 2026-27 campaign and will have long-term stability with the organization.
