  • Islanders' Semyon Varlamov: Toppled by Kings

Varlamov made 24 saves in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to Los Angeles.

The Kings had a clear book on Varlamov, as two of the shots that got past him went over his shoulder on the glove side as he was dropping into his butterfly, including Brandt Clarke's OT winner. Despite his lengthy layoff, the 38-year-old netminder has been solid as Ilya Sorokin's backup, and Varlamov's gone 0-1-2 with a 2.25 GAA and .899 save percentage through three starts to begin the season.

  • Jets' Stuart Skinner: Makes 35 saves in overtime defeat

Skinner stopped 35 of 38 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars.

Skinner delivered an impressive performance despite the defeat, posting a .921 save percentage while facing nearly twice as many shots as Dallas' Jake Oettinger. The veteran netminder made a remarkable glove save on Roope Hintz late in the second period to preserve Winnipeg's lead, but couldn't prevent Dallas' late comeback. His substantial workload creates opportunities for strong save totals, though the Jets' recent struggles could continue to limit his fantasy value in leagues that emphasize wins. It's worth noting that Skinner has been productive despite the team's struggles, posting a single-game save percentage of at least .900 in five of his last six starts.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Stands on head in OT win

Kuemper stopped 41 shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders.

The Kings were out-shot 43-27 on the night by the home side, but Kuemper made more than 40 saves in a regular-season game for the first time since April 5, 2024 to steal a win for his team. He even picked up an assist on Brandt Clarke's OT winner. The 36-year-old netminder had a bumpy beginning to 2026-27, coughing up eight goals in Colorado in the season opener, but since then Kuemper's gone 2-2-1 in five starts with a 2.52 GAA and .924 save percentage.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Dials up second shutout of season

Silovs made 26 saves in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers.

The 25-year-old netminder came through with some big stops while the outcome remained in some doubt, but Evgeni Malkin's tally early in the third period gave the home side a 3-0 lead and removed most of the suspense. The shutout with Silovs' second in seven starts to begin the season, tying his career high, and he sports a 4-3-0 record, 3.01 GAA and .885 save percentage as Pittsburgh's No. 1 option between the pipes.

  • Cooper Black G | FLA

Panthers' Cooper Black: Gets no help in NHL debut

Black turned aside 17 of 20 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Penguins, with Pittsburgh's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

Making his NHL debut. Black held his own but got no help from a Panthers roster that had played the night before and lost an emotional return to Ottawa for Brady Tkachuk. The 25-year-old goes into the record books as the tallest goalie in league history at 6-foot-9, and he could get some additional starts while working behind Akira Schmid until Jacob Markstrom (upper body) is cleared to return, which is expected to happen in early November.

  • Nicolas Daws G | WPG

Devils' Nico Daws: Cruises to second win

Daws made 16 saves in Thursday's 4-1 win over Anaheim.

The road-weary Ducks didn't put up much of a fight, and Daws took a shutout into the third period until Tim Washe tipped home a shot from the blue line by Jackson LaCombe. Daws has won two straight starts, and over four outings to begin the season he's 2-2-0 with a 2.77 GAA and .874 save percentage, positioning him as more of a 1B option behind Jake Allen rather than the clear backup.

  • Ville Husso G | ANA

Ducks' Ville Husso: Downed by Devils

Husso stopped 25 of 28 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to New Jersey. The Devils' final goal was scored into an empty net.

The Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, and while Husso kept the Ducks in the contest, his offense never got going while playing its third game in four nights on an east coast road swing. Husso has gone 1-2-0 in his first four outings of the season with a 3.09 GAA and .888 save percentage, numbers which won't put any pressure on Lukas Dostal at the top of the depth chart.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Can't fend off Kraken

Vejmelka allowed four goals on 22 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Kraken. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Vejmelka took consecutive losses for the first time this season. He's allowed nine goals on 39 shots in those games. It's a little early in the campaign for workload to be a concern, but Vejmelka has only rested in full for two of the Mammoth's 11 games. He is 5-3-0 with a 3.04 GAA and an .872 save percentage. Fantasy managers will hope he can get back to winning soon, but don't expect shining ratios from the veteran netminder. The Mammoth are slated to host the Lightning on Saturday in what would be a tough matchup should Vejmelka get the start.

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Prevails over Mammoth

Grubauer stopped 33 of 36 shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Mammoth.

Grubauer picked up a second straight win with this performance. He's now started four of the Kraken's last five games, earning seven of a possible eight standings points in that stretch. That makes him the hot hand, though head coach Lane Lambert has made sure Joey Daccord doesn't sit for too long. Grubauer is 4-1-1 with a 2.76 GAA and a .907 save percentage over seven games. With the Kraken off to a 7-3-1 start as a team, whichever goalie is starting is a viable fantasy option for managers chasing wins. The Kraken will be tested in their next game when they host the Wild on Saturday.

  • Dylan Garand G | NYR

    Rangers' Dylan Garand: Last-minute heartbreaker

Garand made 30 saves Thursday in a 5-4 loss to Toronto.

It was a sloppy game through and through, and the winning goal was a heartbreaker -- it came with 28 seconds left in the third period. Neither Garand nor Sergei Bobrovsky of the Leafs got real support from their respective squads in this game. Garand is now 4-3-1 with one shutout, 2.30 GAA and .915 save percentage.
