Jacob Fowler G | MON
Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Starting against Nashville
Fowler will start Thursday's home game against the Predators, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Fowler was called up by the Canadiens on Wednesday, and his starting nod against the Predators suggests that Sam Montembeault (undisclosed) won't be available Thursday. Fowler made 17 regular-season appearances for Montreal last year, going 9-6-2 with a 2.43 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Jonas Johansson G | OTT
Senators' Jonas Johansson: Sent down Thursday
Johansson was demoted to AHL Belleville on Thursday.
Johansson's reassignment to the minors likely means that Linus Ullmark (undisclosed) will be at least healthy enough to serve as the backup, if not the outright starter, against the Flyers on Thursday. If Samuel Ersson continues to struggle out of the gate, the Senators could decide to give Johansson a longer look at the NHL level, but for now he'll remain in Belleville.

Ville Husso G | ANA
Ducks' Ville Husso: Light work in relief outing
Husso stopped both shots he faced in relief of Lukas Dostal in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Oilers.
Husso played the third period after Dostal gave up five goals in the middle frame. This was the first action of the year for Husso, and it'll serve as a tune-up with the 31-year-old likely to start over the weekend. The Ducks have a back-to-back upcoming, as they'll play in Winnipeg on Friday and then in Calgary on Saturday. Beyond that back-to-back, Husso is likely to resume serving in a backup role.

Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Pulled after bad second period
Dostal allowed five goals on 17 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Oilers.
Dostal was pulled after the Oilers put up a five-spot in the second period against him. Ville Husso played the third period and made two saves. This was the first rough patch of the year for Dostal, who is 2-1-0 with 10 goals allowed on 78 shots over three games. He'll likely start one of the next two games -- the Ducks have a road back-to-back up next with stops in Winnipeg on Friday and Calgary on Saturday.

Devon Levi G | EDM
Oilers' Devon Levi: Overcomes rough first period
Levi allowed two goals on 31 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Ducks.
Beckett Sennecke scored twice in the first period, but Levi locked in over the final 40 minutes. The Oilers' offense also stepped up with a five-goal second period to give him support. Levi has won all three of his starts so far despite allowing 10 goals on 73 shots in those games. The Oilers' next game is Saturday versus the Sharks, and if Levi gets the start and plays well in that one, he may be considered the early leader for the No. 1 job between the pipes in Edmonton.

MacKenzie Blackwood G | COL
Avalanche's Mackenzie Blackwood: Handed loss Wednesday
Blackwood stopped 16 of 19 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Jets.
The Jets' top line got all three goals, including Kyle Connor's second snipe of the night with one minute left in the third period. Blackwood has allowed eight goals on 76 shots while going 2-1-0 over his three starts this season. The 29-year-old netminder has received a starter's workload early on, though he'll be due for rest when the Avalanche finish their back-to-back in Calgary on Thursday. Expect Scott Wedgewood to get the nod in that game.
-
Stuart Skinner G | WPG
Jets' Stuart Skinner: Defeats Avalanche
Skinner stopped 32 of 34 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Avalanche.
Skinner faced one of the league's toughest opponents and came away with a win, allowing just a pair of goals to Colorado's third line. That's the second straight win for Skinner, who has faced heavy traffic through three games. He's stopped 91 of 99 shots while going 2-0-1, but the 27-year-old hasn't often displayed extended runs of success, so there may be some luck involved so far. He's taken a firm grasp of the starting job for the Jets, and he's worth rostering in fantasy as long as the results keep going in his favor. The Jets' next game is at home versus the Ducks on Friday.

Arturs Silovs G | PIT
Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Yields five goals in loss
Silovs stopped 22 of 27 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Capitals.
It's tough to lay too much blame on Silovs, as the Penguins' defense had a clear turnover problem in this contest. The team as a whole was charged with 21 giveaways. Silovs is now 2-1-0 with 10 goals allowed on 71 shots over his three games this season, though he also had a shutout in the season opener. The 25-year-old's experience from last year gave him the edge for the starting job to begin 2026-27, but any extended slump will open the door for Sergei Murashov to see more playing time. The Penguins wrap up this two-game road trip in Columbus on Friday.
-
Logan Thompson G | WAS
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Allows three goals in win
Thompson stopped 27 of 30 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Penguins.
The Penguins had a couple of goals in the second period, but Thompson bounced back well in the third to preserve the lead. The 29-year-old netminder has given up five goals on 63 shots over his two outings this season, winning both of them. Thompson is likely to maintain the starter role for the Capitals, and if the team performs up to expectations, he should rack up plenty of wins. The Capitals' next game is at home versus the Rangers on Friday.

Stuart Skinner G | WPG
Jets' Stuart Skinner: Guarding goal Wednesday
Skinner will protect the home goal versus the Avalanche on Wednesday, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Skinner has allowed six goals on 65 shots over two outings to begin his time with the Jets. The 27-year-old netminder will face his toughest test yet against the Avalanche, who have scored 14 goals over their first two games.
