  • Alec Regula D | EDM

Oilers' Alec Regula: Lands on LTIR

Regula (undisclosed) was designated for long-term injured reserve Thursday.

Regula continues to work his way back from offseason surgery that caused him to miss the entire preseason. With the shift to LTIR, the 26-year-old defenseman can be expected to miss at least the next nine games, having already been out of action for one, though it could be longer, considering the team hasn't provided a specific update.

  • Sabres' Olen Zellweger: Shifts to IR

Zellweger (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Zellweger had already been ruled out versus the Blue Jackets on Thursday, though his availability for Saturday's clash with Chicago remains in question thanks to the team using a retroactive IR designation. With the open roster spot, the Sabres brought up Dennis Gilbert from the minors.

  • Kings' Brian Dumoulin: Lights lamp Wednesday

Dumoulin scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the Avalanche.

Dumoulin tallied the first goal of the season for the Kings. The 35-year-old defenseman is hardly a regular on the scoresheet -- he was limited to two goals and 17 points across 82 regular-season outings in 2025-26. Dumoulin also doesn't add much in the way of hits, though he could bounce back from having just 89 blocked shots last year. Overall, he's not the type of blueliner most fantasy managers will need to roster this year.

  • Devon Toews D | COL

Avalanche's Devon Toews: Earns pair of power-play assists

Toews logged two power-play assists and two PIM in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Kings.

With this performance, Toews already has more points with the man advantage in 2026-27 than he did in all of 2025-26, when he was limited to a single power-play goal. He's rarely been a big producer in that scenario, but last year was a bad one by most metrics for the veteran blueliner, who was limited to just 24 points in 68 regular-season appearances. Toews' main value comes from playing alongside Cale Makar at even strength as well as his individual ability to carry a strong plus-minus rating. Given his prominent role on a strong team, Toews should be able to bounce back to around the 40-point mark if he can avoid injuries. He may not carry as much fantasy value as he used to since his non-scoring production has steadily declined in recent years.

  • Cale Makar D | COL

Avalanche's Cale Makar: Puts up two assists

Makar registered two assists, including one on the power play, and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Kings.

Makar was limited by a lower-body injury during the preseason, appearing in just one exhibition game. The 27-year-old has battled a few injury issues over the years, though he's played in at least 75 regular-season contests in each of the last three years. His offense came down a bit last year with 79 points in 75 regular-season games, compared to 92 points in 2024-25. Makar is one of a few defensemen who annually threatens for 20 goals and a point-per-game pace, and he'll also be a force with the man advantage in addition to his prolific even-strength work.

  • Tyler Tucker D | STL

Blues' Tyler Tucker: Undergoes knee procedure

Tucker had arthroscopic knee surgery and will be re-assessed in six weeks, the team announced Wednesday.

Based on Tucker's timeline, he shouldn't be expected back until mid-November, though it could certainly be longer. With Logan Mailloux (hand) also sidelined long-term, Adam Jiricek could see an extended run on the blue line. For his part, even once cleared to play, Tucker is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value given his limited offensive upside.

  • Kings' Joel Edmundson: Good to go

Edmundson (undisclosed) is good to play Wednesday in Colorado, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site.

Edmundson had two goals, 23 points, 25 PIM, 97 hits and 111 blocks in 82 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2025-26. Erik Gustafsson might have been inserted into the lineup if Edmundson were unavailable, but Gustafsson is now projected to be a healthy scratch Wednesday.

  • Noah Warren D | ANA

Ducks' Noah Warren: Called up Wednesday

Warren was called up from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.

Warren had two goals, 12 points and 26 PIM in 61 AHL regular-season appearances with San Diego in 2025-26. Anaheim summoned Warren, along with defensemen Travis Mitchell and Tristan Luneau, because Drew Helleson (lower body) and Ian Moore (lower body) are on injured reserve. It wouldn't be surprising if Warren was a healthy scratch as the Ducks' seventh defenseman for Friday's game in Vegas.

  • Ducks' Travis Mitchell: Up from minors

Mitchell was called up from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.

Although Mitchell successfully cleared waivers, it seems he won't be in the minors when Anaheim opens the 2026-27 campaign in Vegas on Friday. The 26-year-old had a goal, 17 points and 87 PIM in 58 regular-season outings with AHL Bridgeport in 2025-26. He also recorded a goal and six PIM in nine NHL regular-season appearances with the Islanders last year. Mitchell might be part of the third pairing versus Vegas.

  • Ducks' Tristan Luneau: Promoted Wednesday

Luneau was summoned from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.

Luneau was sent to the minors Tuesday in what might have been simply a paper move. The 22-year-old blueliner had 10 goals and 41 points in 70 AHL regular-season appearances with San Diego in 2025-26. Luneau might play against Vegas on Friday as part of Anaheim's third pairing.
