Daniel Jones QB | IND
Colts' Daniel Jones: Receives transition tag
Jones (Achilles) received the transition tag from the Colts on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The transition tag allots Jones a fully guaranteed $37.83 million salary for 2026 but allows him to negotiate with other teams, though Indianapolis retains the right to match any offer sheet. Jones carries a 6-8 month recovery timeline after undergoing Achilles surgery in December, so he could be ready for the start of training camp in July. Across 13 regular-season games in 2025, Jones completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 3,101 yards and a 19:8 TD:INT while also adding 45 carries for 164 yards and five scores. The former Giant was on pace for a career year, though a fibula injury suffered in Week 10 hampered his production even prior to his Achilles tear.

Drew Dalman C | CHI
Bears' Drew Dalman: Announces surprise retirement
Dalman informed the Bears on Tuesday that he has decided to retire from the NFL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dalman's decision comes out of left field, as the 27-year-old center joined Chicago via a three-year, $42 million contract last March and played at an extremely high level in 2025. The loss of Dalman leaves the Bears with a significant hole in the middle of an otherwise stellar O-line. Expect Chicago to heavily prioritize searching for a replacement in free agency or during April's draft.

Trey Hendrickson DE | BAL
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Not being tagged
The Bengals will not place the franchise tag on Hendrickson (hip/pelvis) by Tuesday's deadline, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
After two contentious offseasons between the two sides, Cincinnati will allow the veteran pass rusher to reach free agency. Injuries limited Hendrickson to just seven regular-season games in 2025, in which span he tallied 16 tackles (11 solo) including 4.0 sacks, plus one pass defensed and one forced fumble. However, he played all 17 regular-season games in both 2023 and 2024 and tallied 17.5 sacks each of those years, a ceiling that will make the 31-year-old defensive end one of the top available free agents on the open market. He's recovering from December core-muscle surgery, but it isn't expected to be an issue once his new team's offseason program begins in earnest.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Officially gets non-exclusive tag
The Jets officially placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Hall (knee) on Tuesday, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports.
It was initially reported that New York would place the franchise tag on Hall, but the non-exclusive variation allows the running back to negotiate with other teams. The Jets will retain the right to match any offer and be entitled to two first-round picks as compensation from any team he signs with, a prohibitive enough cost to make any such deal unlikely. Still, Hall's ability to negotiate with other teams could open up trade possibilities in the event that he isn't able to reach terms on a long-term extension with the Jets by the July 15 deadline.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Tagged by Jets
New York is placing the franchise tag on Hall (knee) on Tuesday, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Jets general manager Darren Moughey said at the NFL Scouting Combine that Hall would get tagged if an agreement on a contract extension couldn't be reached by Tuesday's deadline. It's significant that the running back will receive the franchise tag rather than the transition tag, which will guarantee him at least a $14.29 million salary for 2026. Hall and New York will have until mid-July to continue negotiating on a potential multi-year extension. While Hall's fantasy prospects may have improved with a new organization, the Jets are clearly invested in keeping him as a focal part of the offense. Hall carried the ball 243 times for 1,065 yards and four TDs across 16 regular-season games in 2025, adding 36 catches for 350 yards and another score on 48 targets.

Jimmie Ward SAF | HOU
Jimmie Ward: Slated for release
The Texans plan to release Ward (foot), Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Ward didn't play at all last season, as he opened the campaign on the Commissioner Exempt List and was later moved to the reserve/PUP list while rehabbing from foot surgery he underwent in December 2024. By releasing the veteran safety, Houston will save $750,000 in cap room, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. It's unclear where Ward is in his recovery or what his prospects are for next season. He'll turn 35 years old in July.

Harrison Mevis K | LAR
Rams' Harrison Mevis: Gets tender from Los Angeles
The Rams tendered Mevis on Monday.
Mevis was lined up to be an exclusive rights free agent, but it's no surprise the Rams decided to tender him, which will prevent him from being able to negotiate with other teams. The undrafted kicker out of Missouri latched on with Los Angeles' practice squad in November last year and eventually earned his way to a role as the team's starting kicker. He debuted Week 10 against San Francisco and finished the regular season having converted 12 of 13 field-goal tries and all 39 of his point-after attempts. Mevis then went 6-for-6 on FG tries and 9-for-9 on PATs in the postseason, all but assuring that he'll enter training camp as the frontrunner for the team's kicking job in 2026.

Xavier Smith WR | LAR
Rams' Xavier Smith: Tendered by Rams
The Rams tendered Smith on Monday.
Smith was slated to be an exclusive rights free agent, and by receiving a tender, he's now locked in with Los Angeles for another season. The Florida A&M product has served as a depth wideout for the Rams during his two campaigns in the NFL, and he saw his role expand last year with an 18-303-0 receiving line over 16 regular-season games. Smith also was a key component of the Rams' special-teams unit, racking up 301 kick-return yards and 251 punt-return yards. He'll likely be deployed in a similar role next season.

Kader Kohou CB | KC
Dolphins' Kader Kohou: Deemed fully cleared from injury
Kohou's agents deemed him fully cleared medically Monday from the partially torn ACL he suffered late last July, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Kohou missed all of last season due to the injury, which took place during training camp. Prior to getting hurt, Kohou was slated to work as the Dolphins' starting slot cornerback. He's now set to be an unrestricted free agent, so being declared fully healthy should boost his appeal to teams interested in his services.

Ty Okada DB | SEA
Seahawks' Ty Okada: Gets tendered by Seattle
The Seahawks tendered Okada to a one-year, league-minimum contract Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
By being tendered as an exclusive rights free agent, Okada will not have the ability to negotiate a contract with another team this offseason. The Montana State product played in nine regular-season games from 2023 to 2024 and saw limited playing time. However, Okada started in 11 of 17 regular-season games in 2025 due to various injuries in the Seahawks' secondary and finished with 65 tackles (46 solo), including 1.5 sacks, six pass defenses (one interception) and one fumble recovery. Given his strong play last season, Okada should have a shot at earning a more permanent role on defense in 2026.
