  • Bryce Young QB | CAR

Panthers' Bryce Young: Leads scoring drive in preseason win

Young completed five of six passes for 49 yards in Friday's 34-17 preseason win over the Jaguars.

The Panthers played their starters for the first quarter while their opposition didn't, and it paid off when Young led a scoring drive on his second and final possession, capped by a one-yard TD plunge by Jonathon Brooks. That could be Young's last tune-up of the preseason, as Carolina plays one more exhibition game next Friday against Houston before turning its attention to Week 1 and the Bears.

  • Rico Dowdle RB | PIT

Steelers' Rico Dowdle: Five carries Friday, just like Warren

Dowdle rushed five times for 18 yards and caught his only target for two yards in Friday's 17-0 preseason loss to the Jets.

Dowdle posted a similar stat line to Jaylen Warren (five carries for 17 yards) as Pittsburgh's top two running backs split carries throughout the first half. The Steelers are poised to open the regular season with Warren and Dowdle operating in a timeshare. It's unclear if either of the two will suit up for Thursday's preseason finale at Buffalo.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Splits with Dowdle in first half Friday

Warren rushed five times for 17 yards in Friday's 17-0 preseason loss to the Jets.

Warren was the first running back into the game for the Steelers but split carries with Rico Dowdle throughout the first half. The two running backs had similar stat lines, as Dowdle rushed five times for 18 yards and added a two-yard catch. Pittsburgh's entire offense struggled with Will Howard and Drew Allar at QB, but things should improve in the regular season with Aaron Rodgers under center. Warren and Dowdle appear poised for a near-even split barring injury or the emergence of a hot hand.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: Perfect on lone drive Friday

Smith completed all seven of his pass attempts for 65 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 17-0 preseason win over the Steelers.

After sitting out the preseason opener due to a sore ankle, Smith saw the first game action of his second stint with the Jets. He played only the opening drive but was sharp during his brief time in the game, completing all seven of his passes to six different targets, including a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jelani Woods. Smith looks like he's in midseason form already, so it remains to be seen if the veteran QB will get any action in next Friday's preseason finale against the Giants.

  • Garrett Wilson WR | NYJ

Jets' Garrett Wilson: One catch in first action with Smith

Wilson caught his only target for 10 yards in Friday's 17-0 preseason win over the Steelers.

The Jets' starters played the opening drive, which resulted in a touchdown. Geno Smith hit all seven of his pass attempts, including a 10-yard pass to Wilson to convert on third-and-6 in Pittsburgh territory. The offseason addition of Smith gives the Jets' entire passing game a higher ceiling heading into 2026, and Wilson remains the team's top WR.

  • Chase Curtis TE | NYJ

Jets' Chase Curtis: Won't return Friday

Curtis (knee) is out for the remainder of Friday's preseason contest at Pittsburgh.

The severity of the injury is unknown at this point, but it will at least keep Curtis off the field for the rest of the game. In his absence, fellow undrafted rookie free-agent tight end Connor Hulstein may see an uptick in snaps.

  • Riley Moss CB | DEN

Broncos' Riley Moss: Suffers rib injury

Moss (ribs) is questionable to return to Friday's preseason contest versus the Packers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Per Stevens, Moss walked straight to Denver's locker room after consulting with trainers in the medical tent. The team will wait for further details on the injury, and in the meantime, 2025 first-rounder Jahdae Barron could see increased reps on the boundary with the first team.

  • Jayden Reed WR | GB

Packers' Jayden Reed: Will not suit up Friday

Reed won't play in Friday's preseason game in Denver, per Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site.

Reed briefly missed some practice time earlier this month but was able to play in preseason Week 1 at Pittsburgh, when he hauled in one of two targets for 19 yards. The Packers are resting only Reed among their receiving corps Friday, meaning all of Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, among others, will be available for QB Jordan Love.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Packers' Josh Jacobs: Won't suit up Friday

Jacobs (groin) won't play in Friday's preseason game at Denver, according to Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site.

Jacobs returned to practice Tuesday after missing time with a groin issue, so Green Bay appears to be taking a cautious approach with its lead running back at this point during exhibition season. His absence Friday is notable for workload management, but he remains on track for regular-season duties if he avoids setbacks.

  • Chiefs' Matt Waletzko: Reverts to Chiefs' IR

Waletzko (undisclosed) reverted from waivers to Kansas City's injured reserve list Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Waletzko did not get claimed after the Chiefs waived him with an undisclosed injury Thursday, and he's now in line to spend the entire 2026 on IR. He last suited up for a regular-season contest back in 2024 with the Cowboys.
