  • Mike Strachan WR | WAS

Mike Strachan: Let go by Washington

Strachan was waived by the Commanders on Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Strachan has appeared in 23 regular-season games split between the Colts and Panthers, but he didn't play a single regular-season snap in 2024 and won't get a chance to suit up with Washington in 2025. The 28-year-old wide receiver will hope to get an opportunity with another NFL team during the preseason.

  • River Cracraft WR | WAS

Commanders' River Cracraft: Signs with Washington

Cracraft (undisclosed) signed with the Commanders on Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Cracraft was released with a non-football injury designation by the Seahawks in May, but he has subsequently recovered. The 30-year-old wide receiver has 53 games of regular-season experience under his belt but will be fighting an uphill battle to make Washington's 53-man roster.

  • Tyreek Hill WR | MIA

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill: Not practicing Thursday

Hill (oblique) won't practice Thursday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

The report suggests that Hill, who has been managing an oblique injury, made a push to be on the field Thursday, but the Dolphins training staff is inclined to play it safe with the wideout in order to avoid a setback. With coach Mike McDaniel having indicated that at this stage he's not planning on using his starters this weekend, per Dante Collinelli of SI.com, Hill's next chance to see game action will occur Saturday, Aug. 23 against the Jaguars.

  • Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Participating in team drills

Waddle is taking part in team drills at Thursday's joint practice with the Lions, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Waddle returned to practice Wednesday, also a joint session with the Detroit, though coach Mike McDaniel said his rep count was limited, per David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. While Waddle's overall workload may still be being managed Thursday, he essentially appears back to full health after having been banged-up during a collision with a Bears defender in last week's joint practices. If McDaniel opts to play the starters during Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Lions, it doesn't appear injuries would prevent Waddle from suiting up.

  • Rashee Rice WR | KC

Chiefs' Rashee Rice: Likely available Weeks 1-4

Rice (groin) is expected to have his disciplinary hearing with the NFL scheduled for Tues., Sept. 30, making him likely to play in Kansas City's first four games of the regular season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Rice's disciplinary hearing with the NFL is expected to result in a multi-game suspension relating to his involvement in a multi-car crash that occurred in Dallas during the 2024 offseason, and a scheduling date of Sept. 30 likely now means that any missed time would come either in the middle of the 2025 campaign, or be deferred until 2026. That at least provides clarity that Rice, who missed the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Cardinals due to what coach Andy Reid described as a minor groin injury, should be available for the first four games of the regular season at a minimum, beginning Week 1 against the Chargers on Friday, Sept. 5. The status of both Rice and Hollywood Brown (ankle) remains uncertain for Friday's exhibition matchup against Seattle.

  • A.J. Brown WR | PHI

    Eagles' A.J. Brown: Not practicing

Brown (hamstring) isn't practicing Thursday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

After missing a week of training camp, Brown returned to practice as a limited participant Sunday and Tuesday, but the Eagles are now playing it safe and holding him out from joint practices with the Browns. It'll be more concerning if Brown remains out of practice next week, following Saturday's preseason game against Cleveland.

  • Keon Coleman WR | BUF

Bills' Keon Coleman: Making strides entering Year 2

Bills quarterback Josh Allen said Tuesday that Coleman is "having a really good camp," Mike Moraitis of SI.com reports.

Allen said Coleman is "still seeing a lot of growth in his game and just the nuance to playing the receiver position and doing the things that we're asking him to do," and that the second-year pro has "consistently" been "a guy that can go and win" in one-on-one situations. With top wideout Khalil Shakir expected back for Week 1, but considered week-to-week due to a high-ankle sprain and currently not practicing, Coleman appears to be making the most of his increased opportunities. The 2024 second-round pick was primarily deployed as a downfield target as a rookie, but Buffalo's addition of deep threat Joshua Palmer in free agency could open up a path for Coleman to see more flexible, fantasy-friendly utilization Year 2. Coleman's size, body control, and potential to dominate in one-on-one situations provide him the upside of developing into a go-to red zone target for Allen, something the Bills lacked last season.

  • Colts' D.J. Montgomery: Lands on injured reserve

The Colts placed Montgomery (undisclosed) on the injured reserve list Wednesday.

By being placed on injured reserve, Montgomery will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached. He spent the entire 2024 season on the Colts' practice squad but hasn't seen regular-season action since 2023 with Indianapolis, when he caught three passes (on eight targets) for 56 yards and a touchdown across seven games.

  • Chase Cota WR | CLE

Chase Cota: Let go by Cleveland

The Browns waived Cota on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Cota caught on with the Browns in late July, but he'll be on the lookout to join a new team assuming he clears waivers. He has not seen NFL regular-season action since signing with the Lions as an undrafted free agent in May of 2023.

  • Bub Means WR | NO

Saints' Bub Means: Lands on injured reserve

The Saints placed Means (lower leg) on the injured reserve list Wednesday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.

Means suffered the injury during the Saints' preseason contest against the Chargers on Sunday. By being placed on injured reserve, Means will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached with the Saints. He appeared in seven regular-season games for New Orleans in 2024 and posted nine catches (on 15 targets) for 118 yards and one touchdown.
