  • Jalen Reagor WR | MIA

Vikings' Jalen Reagor: Four receptions in preseason debut

Reagor had four receptions for 55 yards on four targets in Thursday's preseason loss at Seattle.

Minnesota declined Reagor's fifth-year contract option for 2024, so he's no lock to make the final roster. However, he improved his stock with Thursday's performance to try and win a reserve receiver role. His larger battle may be trying to justify a roster spot by winning the punt return role again.

  • Jalen Nailor WR | LV

Vikings' Jalen Nailor: Misses game with leg injury

Nailor (leg) did not play in Thursday's preseason loss to Seattle.

Nailor hurt his leg in training camp July 29 and hasn't returned to practice. Head coach Kevin O'Connell originally said Nailor would be back soon, but few details have been given on his status. Nailor may be missing out on crucial playing time in preseason games that could have helped him win the No. 4 receiver role.

  • Jalen Brooks WR | ARI

Cowboys' Jalen Brooks: Making push for roster spot

Brooks would likely be on the Cowboys' initial 53-man roster if the season started this weekend, Jon Machota and Saad Yousef of The Athletic report.

The 2023 seventh-round pick has stood out in training camp so far, notably outperforming the inconsistent but more athletic Simi Fehoko in the battle for the No. 6 spot on the wide receiver depth chart. Brooks will need to keep building momentum through the preseason to secure a roster spot, but so far so good for the South Carolina product.

  • Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba: Three catches against Vikings

Smith-Njigba caught three of four targets for 25 yards in Thursday's 24-13 preseason win over the Vikings.

Smith-Njigba was the only Seahawk with more than two targets in the first half and finished tied for the team lead in that category, as Seattle made a concerted effort to get the 2023 first-round pick involved while he was in the game. Most importantly, Smith-Njigba is healthy after a hamstring injury limited him to just three appearances in his final season at Ohio State. He projects to occupy the slot role while DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett (undisclosed) start on the outside in the regular season. Smith-Njigba should continue to be a featured option out of the slot in Seattle's next preseason game against the Cowboys on Aug. 19.

  • Jordan Addison WR | MIN

Vikings' Jordan Addison: One catch in NFL debut

Addison caught one of three targets for 22 yards in Thursday's 24-13 preseason loss to the Seahawks.

Addison nearly secured a nice gain with a toe drag along the sideline in the first quarter, but the play was ruled out of bounds. His first NFL catch came on the first play of the second quarter and resulted in a 22-yard gain. Despite this modest stat line in his NFL debut, the 2023 first-round pick projects to play a prominent role in his rookie season. After seeing limited action Thursday, Addison may get more usage in Minnesota's second preseason game, Aug. 19 against Tennessee.

  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Makes visit to hospital

Johnson (head/neck) was transferred from Lumen Field to a Seattle area hospital during Thursday's preseason game against the Vikings, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.

It's unclear when Johnson sustained the injury, but he spent some time in the sideline tent before being removed from the field on a stretcher while his head and neck were immobilized. The Seahawks announced that Johnson is in stable condition, so the team appears to be taking the utmost caution with the third-year wide receiver.

  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Stretchered off field Thursday

Johnson needed a stretcher to get off the field during halftime of Thursday's preseason contest versus the Vikings, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

An unknown Seahawk was in the blue medical tent for about 20 minutes before halftime, at which point Johnson was immobilized and placed on a stretcher, per Henderson. The nature of Johnson's injury is unknown, but the 2021 undrafted free agent was in the running for one of the final spots at wide receiver for Seattle.

  • Texans' John Metchie: Takes field for preseason

Metchie caught his only target for five yards in Thursday's 20-9 preseason-opening win over the Patriots.

Metchie returned to action after missing his rookie year while battling leukemia. He caught a pass on Houston's touchdown drive to end the second quarter. While third-round wideout Tank Dell impressed with five catches for 65 yards and the aforementioned score, Metchie could compete with him for the No. 3 receiver job behind probable starters Nico Collins and Robert Woods.

  • Tank Dell WR | HOU

Texans' Tank Dell: Impresses in first action

Dell caught five of eight targets for 65 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night's 20-9 win over the Patriots in the preseason opener.

Dell's performance was highlighted by a juggling six-yard touchdown reception along the sideline to end the first half. The local third-round pick has drawn praise during camp and had a long gain of 24 yards Thursday, ultimately leading the Texans in all major receiving categories. For good measure, Dell also returned a punt for 13 yards. In a relatively fluid receiving corps behind Nico Collins and Robert Woods, Dell will strive to keep his momentum going in Houston's second preseason game versus Miami next Saturday.

  • Seahawks' Dee Eskridge: Hurts leg Thursday

Eskridge (suspension) suffered an apparent right leg injury during the opening kickoff of Thursday's preseason contest against the Vikings, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.

Operating on kick coverage, Eskridge remained on the turf at the end of the play before making his way to the blue sideline tent, per Brady Henderson of ESPN.com. The nature of Eskridge's injury is unknown, but it could be another setback after the NFL handed him a six-game suspension last week for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.
