  • Byron Pringle WR | WAS

Commanders' Byron Pringle: Still on roster

Pringle has a spot on Washington's initial 53-man roster, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.

The Commanders are carrying seven wide receivers, including undrafted rookie Mitchell Tinsley. That may not last, but it's not a total shock given that No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin (toe) is uncertain for Week 1 against the Cardinals. Pringle likely would be only fourth or fifth on the depth chart even if McLaurin were to miss the game.

  • Commanders' Mitchell Tinsley: Gets spot on initial roster

Tinsley has a spot on Washington's initial 53-man roster, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Tinsley survived cutdown day and the first round of waivers, riding a strong preseason (6-129-1) to a spot on the team despite going undrafted in April. He's on the old side for a rookie, turning 24 in September, and is more likely to get snaps on special teams than offense this season.

  • Isaiah McKenzie: Let go by Indianapolis

The Colts released McKenzie on Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

The move doesn't come as a total shock, given the lack of guaranteed money on McKenzie's one-year contract. Rookie Josh Downs locked down the No. 3 wideout job for Indianapolis, and he and cornerback Dallis Flowers can handle any return work that might otherwise have gone to McKenzie.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Could land on IR

Thornton (shoulder) isn't practicing Wednesday and may soon be placed on injured reserve, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Thornton is in danger of missing the start of the season but should be healthy at some point this fall. It isn't clear Thornton would be handling a key role even if healthy, as he appeared to slide down the receiver depth chart this summer even before missing practice. The Patriots have three veterans starters in JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne, plus two sixth-round rookies in Demario Douglas (shoulder) and Kayshon Boutte.

  • Jake Bobo WR | SEA

Seahawks' Jake Bobo: Gets 53-man spot

Bobo earned a spot on Seattle's initial 53-man roster, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Bobo recorded 57-817-7 receiving line at UCLA in 2022 but then ran a 4.99-second 40-yard dash during the pre-draft process, resulting in him going undrafted in the spring. He caught on with Seattle and impressed during training camp and finished with the 14th-most receiving yards (125) among all players this preseason, earning a depth spot with the Seahawks to open the season. He might even get some snaps Week 1, given all the other injuries the Seahawks have at wide receiver behind starters DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Clears concussion protocol

Shenault said Wednesday he has fully cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Shenault returned to practice as a non-contact participant Tuesday, and he's now gained full clearance. DJ Chark (hamstring) and Terrace Marshall (back) both also returned to practice Tuesday, so Carolina's receiving corps as a whole is approaching full health. In the event that either Chark or Marshall is still limited during the Sept. 10 season opener against the Falcons, Shenault would be in line for an expanded role. Otherwise, he stands to handle a versatile depth gig.

  • Grant DuBose WR | BUF

Grant DuBose: Joins Green Bay's practice squad

DuBose is signing with the Packers' practice squad Wednesday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.

DuBose was let go by the Packers on Tuesday but will rejoin the organization a day later after going unclaimed on waivers. The rookie seventh-round pick will attempt to make an impression on Green Bay's practice squad.

  • Phillip Dorsett: Joining Denver's practice squad

Dorsett is signing with the Broncos' practice squad Thursday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

Dorsett was released by the Raiders on Tuesday, and he'll remain in the AFC West as part of Denver's practice squad. He appeared in 15 games with the Texans last year and secured 20 of 40 targets for 257 yards and a touchdown.

  • Mecole Hardman WR | BUF

Jets' Mecole Hardman: Could be moving down depth chart

Hardman doesn't appear in line to enter the season with a top-three role at receiver, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Randall Cobb reportedly has seen more first-team work than Hardman, who injured a finger while playing with the second-stringers in a preseason-closing win over the Giants last Saturday. Hardman should get a few touches as a return man and as a No. 4 receiver when the Jets host the Bills in Week 1, but Cobb, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard (plus tight end Tyler Conklin) are all more likely to lead the New York's pass-catching corps in targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

  • Randall Cobb WR | NYJ

Jets' Randall Cobb: May serve as No. 3 receiver

Cobb appears likely to enter the season with a top-three role at receiver, while Mecole Hardman is expected to begin the campaign as a backup and gadget player, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Cobb was initially projected to be a depth signing when he followed Aaron Rodgers to New York this spring, but the Jets receiver room ended up less crowded than expected following Corey Davis' recent retirement and Hardman's apparent failure to take a step forward with his new team. As a result, Cobb is left as the probable No. 3 receiver behind Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard (shoulder) heading into a Week 1 home game against the Bills on Sept. 11.
