Elijah Young RB | BUF
Elijah Young: Cut by Buffalo
The Bills waived Young on Sunday.
Young signed with the Bills on Wednesday after being let go by the Chiefs two days prior. He saw extended action during the Bills' preseason finale against the Buccaneers on Saturday, when he logged 16 carries for 53 yards while adding three catches on as many targets for 40 yards. With James Cook, Ray Davis, Ty Johnson and Frank Gore occupying the Bills' four running backs on the depth chart, there simply wasn't enough room for Young on the 53-man roster. Assuming he clears waivers, Young will look to catch on with a team looking for backfield depth, though he could return to Buffalo to serve on the practice squad.

Jase McClellan RB | TB
Jase McClellan: Let go by Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers waived McClellan on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
McClellan signed with Tampa Bay in mid-August and gained one yard on his only carry during Friday's preseason loss to Buffalo. The Alabama product was a sixth-round selection by Atlanta in the 2024 NFL Draft and played in two contests with the Falcons last season, gaining 32 yards on 13 carries, before ending the year on IR due to a knee injury.

Owen Wright RB | TB
Owen Wright: Doesn't make Bucs' roster
Tampa Bay waived Wright on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Wright got a long look during the exhibition slate, as he led the team with 26 carries over three games. On those rushes, the 26-year-old gained a modest 100 yards on the ground (3.9 YPC) while scoring one touchdown. Wright was one of several Tampa Bay roster cuts Sunday, and he's a candidate to land on the team's practice squad if he clears waivers.

Jacardia Wright RB | SEA
Seahawks' Jacardia Wright: Breaks off 61-yard run
Wright rushed five times for 65 yards in Saturday's 20-7 preseason loss to the Seahawks.
The Seahawks couldn't get much going on offense in the preseason finale, but Wright's 61-yard run in the second quarter was a bright spot for the team. Kenneth Walker, Zach Charbonnet and George Holani all sat out Saturday and appear locked into roster spots, so it's likely between Wright and rookie seventh-round pick Damien Martinez for the No. 4 role.

Jaydon Blue RB | DAL
Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Diagnosed with low-ankle sprain
Blue suffered a low-ankle sprain in Friday's preseason win over Atlanta, though he's hopeful to be able to play Week 1, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.comreports.
Blue suggested after the exhibition contest that he wasn't worried about the injury, but the diagnosis of a sprain casts at least some doubt about his availability for the regular-season opener. The rookie out of Texas is slated to be part of a Dallas backfield that also includes veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders (shoulder), though with both Sanders and Blue currently dealing with injuries, the Cowboys may need to call upon Deuce Vaughn, Phil Mafah and/or Malik Davis for some early-season work.

Michael Carter RB | TEN
Cardinals' Michael Carter: Efficient on ground in loss
Carter rushed five times for 47 yards and brought in one of three targets for minus-6 yards in the Cardinals' 20-10 preseason win over the Raiders on Saturday night.
Carter gained 38 of his yards on one carry, but his performance was still a marked improvement over the 10 yards he netted on eight carries last Saturday night in the second preseason game against the Broncos. The veteran back is battling fellow veterans like DeeJay Dallas and Emari Demercado for a spot in the latter portion of the Cardinals' depth chart, and it remains to be seen if he's done enough to get past cutdown day after doing little on the ground over the first two preseason contests.

Emari Demercado RB | KC
Cardinals' Emari Demercado: Garners 30 total yards in loss
Demercado rushed seven times for 22 yards and brought in two of three targets for eight yards in the Cardinals' 20-10 preseason win over the Raiders on Saturday night.
Demercado, who was the first Arizona running back to log a touch Saturday, finished the preseason by upping his yardage total over that of the previous game for the second straight week, but he still finished with a modest yardage total. The third-year pro has proven capable of filling a complementary role in the Cardinals' backfield over the past two seasons, but with Zonovan Knight breaking off a 67-yard touchdown run and Michael Carter averaging 9.4 yards per carry Saturday, it remains to be seen if one or both will vault over Demercado come final roster cuts.
-
Zamir White RB | LV
Raiders' Zamir White: Impressive in preseason loss
White rushed nine times for 42 yards and brought in his only target for three yards in the Raiders' 20-10 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.
White co-led the Raiders in rush attempts with veteran Raheem Mostert, but it was the former that notably was in on the first possession alongside rookie first-round pick Ashton Jeanty. White had been having a very quiet preseason until Saturday night's productive showing, so it remains to be seen if the 2022 fourth-round pick will survive final roster cuts, and if so, whether he'll slot in ahead of Mostert on the depth chart behind Jeanty.

Cody Schrader RB | DEN
Rams' Cody Schrader: Struggles in final showcase
Schrader rushed nine times for 13 yards and returned one kick for 29 yards during Saturday's 19-17 preseason loss to the Browns.
Schrader's momentum came to a halt with a disastrous outing against the Browns. After starting the preseason hot with 140 total yards on offense in his first two appearances, he averaged a paltry 1.4 YPC against Cleveland and failed to record a target for the first time all preseason. Saturday's performance will leave the second-year running back from Missouri in a precarious position with final roster cuts looming soon, as Kyren Williams and Blake Corum are locks to make the team and fourth-round pick Jarquez Hunter (who started the preseason finale for the Rams) is almost certain to join them.
-
Ashton Jeanty RB | LV
Raiders' Ashton Jeanty: Two carries in preseason finale
Jeanty rushed twice for five yards in the Raiders' 20-10 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.
Jeanty logged the Raiders' first touch from scrimmage and shared time with Zamir White on the drive. Jeanty, the rookie first-round pick, had a relatively quiet first preseason as a pro, rushing 12 times for 37 yards and a touchdown while recording one catch for two yards over three games. That type of sparse usage should be a distant memory as soon as the regular season begins, as Jeanty is expected to handle a robust role in the Raiders' ground attack beginning with a Week 1 road matchup against the Patriots on Sunday, Sept. 7.
