Harris gained 29 yards on six carries in Sunday's preseason game against the Texans.

Though he had a solid night, Harris worked behind Mike Davis, who gained 72 yards on five carries. Davis looks like the early favorite for the No. 3 job, and if he were to eventually lock it down, Harris would have to compete with Kendall Gaskins and sixth-round rookie Kelvin Taylor for what would likely be one roster spot.

Washington could earn a roster spot due to his competence on special teams, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Washington is currently competing for Detroit's No. 4 RB job behind starter Ameer Abdullah (shoulder), Theo Riddick, and presumably one of either Zach Zenner or Stevan Ridley, as the two appear to be competing for one job as the team's power back. However, Washington, who housed a 96-yard kickoff return during the Lions' preseason opener versus the Steelers, is able to distinguish himself due to his effectiveness in the return game. Ridley, Zenner and George Winn can't say the same. However, Washington's edge on special teams may prove irrelevant if he can't prove himself to be consistently effective when given opportunities throughout the remainder of the preseason.

Brown (hamstring) got some individual work in on Sunday, WEEI.com reports.

Brown did not play Thursday against the Saints in the Patriots' preseason opener as he continues to nurse a hamstring issue. While there hasn't been any indication that Brown's injury is significant, the sooner the veteran back gets up to speed, the better, in terms of his chances of securing a role in the New England backfield.

Murray carried four times for 21 yards in Friday's preseason opener.

Murray remains slated to head the Raiders' 2016 backfield, which is unsurprisingly supported by his placement atop the team's RB depth chart. What is less certain is how the rest of the team's backs will end up slotting. It's generally assumed that DeAndre Washington will emerge as the team's No. 2 back, with the likes of George Atkinson, Jalen Richard and Taiwan Jones also in the depth mix.

Zenner has taken the lead over Stevan Ridley for the Lions' power-back role, MLive.com reports.

This competition is likely far from over, but after alternating first-team reps throughout training camp thus far, Zenner received most of the work out of the backfield during Detroit's preseason opener last Friday against Pittsburgh. Ridley, however, didn't even take the field until the second half. Ultimately, it is still just Week 1 of the preseason and depth charts are far from finalized, but Zenner nonetheless appears poised to claim the Lions' No. 3 RB job behind Ameer Abdullah (shoulder) and Theo Riddick.

The Colts have placed Toure (undisclosed) on injured reserve.

Toure was signed in the wake of Tyler Varga's retirement earlier this offseason, but was always considered a long-shot to make the Colts' active roster. The details of his injury remain guarded, though, and thus it is unclear whether he will have time to get healthy and latch on with another team in advance of the regular season.

Gillislee rushed three times for 25 yards in Saturday's preseason opener against the Colts.

Gillislee averaged over eight yards per carry, which isn't surprising given his elite production on 47 totes in 2015. While the former Florida Gator will have to earn the No. 3 running back role over fifth-round rookie Jonathan Williams and veteran Reggie Bush, it's tough to imagine him not making the roster given last season's success.

Cunningham contributed 23 yards and a touchdown on four carries and added 20 yards on his sole reception in Saturday's 28-24 preseason victory over the Cowboys.

The backup tailback looked impressive while receiving the start in place of Todd Gurley, particularly on the Rams' second possession. Cunningham notched his 20-yard reception on that drive, and capped off the downfield march with a 14-yard touchdown run that served as the Rams' first points in their return to Los Angeles. The 26-year-old has proved serviceable over his first three campaigns as a rotational back, and figures to slot in a similar role in 2016 considering the ample workload that Gurley should command.

Rawls could share carries this season with Christine Michael, who had an impressive game in Seattle's preseason opener Saturday, the Seattle Times reports. "When Thomas gets back out there, those guys give you a little 1-2 punch that we are kind of excited about," coach Pete Carroll said.

Carroll didn't elaborate, but a "1-2 punch" insinuates a significant role for Michael, taking carries away from Rawls. How Michael and Rawls would be used together is unclear. Rawls (ankle) is not expected to play in preseason. If he is less than 100 percent healthy entering the season, that would give Michael an even bigger opportunity to state his case for a timeshare. But considering how great Rawls played last season, it would be surprising if Michael was used more than just to keep Rawls fresh.

How Michael and Rawls would be used together is unclear. Rawls (ankle) is not expected to play in preseason. If he is less than 100 percent healthy entering the season, that would give Michael an even bigger opportunity to state his case for a timeshare. "He really has made it clear to us about the work," Carroll said. "He's serious about the consistency. He's taken great pride in the way he's brought it to practice. He's an explosive, dynamic athlete so we're just going to keep going with him."
