Kenjon Barner RB | TB
Eagles' Kenjon Barner: Placed on IR
Barner (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.
Barner injured his hamstring in Sunday's game against Baltimore and was initially ruled out for just Week 16. With the Eagles eliminated from playoff contention and Barner unlikely to recover in just two weeks, the move is likely an attempt to simply open up a roster spot and not due to the severity of the injury. It isn't expected that Barner's injury will linger into the offseason or prevent him from being a full participant in offseason activities. Byron Marshall will take over as Philadelphia's No. 3 option at running back with Barner out.

Shane Vereen RB | NO
Giants' Shane Vereen: Slated for triceps surgery
Vereen will undergo surgery on his triceps injury, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports.
After supposedly completing his rehab from an injured triceps, Vereen returned from a nine-game absence in Week 14, only to aggravate the concern in just his second outing back in the fold, getting over a concussion in between that. He'll thus end his second campaign with the Giants with 33 carries for 158 yards and one touchdown, which was accompanied by a typical 11 receptions (on 19 targets) for 94 yards across five appearances.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Doesn't practice Tuesday
Gordon (hip/knee) didn't participate in the open portion of Tuesday's practice, Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
On Monday, head coach Mike McCoy told Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune that Gordon is "champing at the bit" to play through left leg injuries. In particular, Gordon's sprained knee and strained hip continue to conspire against his quest to play again this season. Due to the short respite afforded most teams, including the Chargers, in Week 16, he may have just two more opportunities to prove his health before Saturday's game against the Browns rolls around. If so, Kenneth Farrow and Ronnie Hillman should manage as a competent duo in place of Gordon.

Shane Vereen RB | NO
Giants' Shane Vereen: Placed on IR
Vereen (triceps) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports.
After re-injuring his triceps in Sunday's win over the Lions, the Giants determined that Vereen wouldn't be on track to return before the end of the season and opted to shut him down permanently. The team added running back George Winn to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move, but most of Vereen's duties as the Giants' third-down back figure to fall to either Paul Perkins or Bobby Rainey.

Rob Kelley RB | NO
Redskins' Rob Kelley: Scores despite being stifled
Kelley rushed nine times for eight yards and a touchdown, while catching all four of his targets for 47 yards in Monday night's loss to the Panthers.
Kelley was consistently stuffed in the running game, but he at least was able to score Washington's lone touchdown Monday with a 5-yard rush to close the second quarter. After that end zone trip, Kelley has now scored seven touchdowns in his last eight games, and he's still averaging over four yards per carry. Kelley also went for career highs through the air Monday, compensating for his lack of running lanes in another way.

Kerwynn Williams RB | KC
Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Records 49-yard TD run Sunday
Williams notched three carries for 63 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown run, during Sunday's loss to the Saints.
Digging deep into the playbook with postseason hopes hanging by a thread, head coach Bruce Arians used Williams on the second play from scrimmage, during which the running back fumbled on an aborted play due to offsides on the defense. Five plays later, though, Williams capped the drive with a lengthy dash to the end zone from midfield without one of his shoes. Later, on the Cardinals' first possession of the second half, he lined up in the wildcat formation, handing off to David Johnson for a five-yard gain. Although 12 (of 59) offensive snaps is indicative of his standing in a backfield dominated by Johnson, Williams was the primary running back in situations in which Johnson was lined up as a wide receiver, which could forecast his usage over the final two games of the campaign.

Matt Jones RB | WAS
Redskins' Matt Jones: Inactive Monday
Jones is inactive Monday against the Panthers.
Jones, who last suited up in Week 7, presumably remains an injury away (to Robert Kelley or Chris Thompson) from returning to Washington's backfield mix.

Shane Vereen RB | NO
Giants' Shane Vereen: Re-injures triceps
Coach Ben McAdoo relayed Monday that Vereen has re-injured his triceps.
Vereen, who underwent surgery on a torn triceps earlier this season, saw action in two games since coming off IR, but with news that he's aggravated the injury, the running back's status for the rest of the season could be in jeopardy.
-
Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Scores both Titans touchdowns
Henry rushed nine times for 58 yards and two touchdowns, but wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Chiefs.
Henry found the end zone from four yards in the second quarter, and from one yard out in the fourth. He got half as many carries as starting running back DeMarco Murray, but averaged a robust 6.4 yards per carry and got the important work in close. Murray is still the alpha dog for the Titans, but Henry's powerful running style could make the rookie their preferred option by the goal line down the stretch.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Chargers' Melvin Gordon: Practice status uncertain
When asked about Gordon (hip/knee) practicing later this week, Coach Mike McCoy noted Monday, "we're going to see how it goes...I know one thing: He's champing at the bit," Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Gordon's status for Saturday's game against the Browns thus remains unclear, but if the running back is able to return to practice this week and feels good in doing so, he could return to action as soon as this weekend after missing just one game. Through 13 games played, Gordon is three yards shy of the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
