  • Terrance West RB | BAL

Ravens' Terrance West: Misses practice as expected

West (calf) didn't practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

After aggravating a calf injury in Sunday's 30-17 win over the Raiders, West is expected to miss at least one game, though the Ravens remain optimistic he won't require a long-term absence. It will be a surprise if West practices in any capacity this week as the team prepares for a home game against the Bears. Javorius Allen and Alex Collins are expected to split snaps and touches.

  • Thomas Rawls RB | JAC

Seahawks' Thomas Rawls: Has 'equal status' with Lacy

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Rawls and Eddie Lacy will both share the workload fairly evenly to compensate for the likely season-ending injury to Chris Carson (lower leg/ankle), Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. "There's no reason to have any criteria for [who starts and who doesn't] right now because we like our guys, and really, equal status now is good for us," Carroll said of Rawls and Lacy. "We'll see how they do."

Carroll's comments about "equal status" were more or less supported by how he doled out the offensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Rams, the first game the Seahawks played without the services of Carson. Rawls, who had been a healthy scratch in the Week 4 win over the Colts, was on the field for 32 snaps to Lacy's 19. Neither back produced particularly well, however, as Rawls tallied 24 yards on 13 carries to go with two catches for 15 yards, while Lacy managed 19 yards on nine handoffs and hauled in his lone target for nine yards. The duo should split most of the carries in Week 6 against the Giants, but don't be surprised if Carroll eventually settles on one of the two as the lead back if Rawls dramatically outperforms Lacy, or vice versa.

  • Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Loses yardage against Eagles

Williams lost two yards on three carries in Sunday's 34-7 loss to Philadelphia.

Williams has carried the ball five times in the past three weeks and has no yardage. He was a lower-level player even after David Johnson's injury with just five offensive snaps on Sunday. It's probably safe to assume that those snaps will fade into oblivion with the arrival of Adrian Peterson.

  • Shane Vereen RB | NO

Giants' Shane Vereen: Totals 45 yards in loss

Vereen nabbed four of five targets for 27 yards and added 18 yards on four carries in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Chargers.

The nine touches tied a season high for Vereen, but don't be surprised if that climbs in the coming weeks. Both Paul Perkins (ribs) and Orleans Darkwa (calf) are on the mend and questionable to start the week with injuries. In the meantime, the Giants' receiving options are dropping like flies. Always best used as a scat back, Vereen might be the Giants' answer to the production lost by injuries. In fact, they seem a sprained ankle away from not having much of a choice but to lean on Vereen.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Should be ready for training camp

The Vikings are optimistic that Cook (knee), who underwent season-ending surgery Monday to repair a torn left ACL, will be 100 percent healthy for the start of the 2018 campaign, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "No real further damage in Cook's knee, thankfully," Vikings athletic trainer Eric Sugarman said Tuesday. "Pretty straight ACL. And I'd hope to expect him at training camp next year."

Cook, a second-round pick out of Florida State, emerged as one of the top backs in the league through the first quarter of the season, racking up 444 total yards and two touchdowns to revive a Vikings ground game that struggled mightily in 2016. However, after tearing his ACL in Week 4, the rookie will now embark on a nine-plus-month recovery process, resulting in Jerick McKinnon and Latavius Murray taking over as the Vikings' primary rushers. While McKinnon in particular impressed in the Week 5 win over the Bears, neither player boasts a comparable all-around skill set to Cook, who should take back the starting gig in 2018 if his knee heals as anticipated.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Texans' D'Onta Foreman: Totals 37 yards

Foreman rushed for 34 yards on four carries and added a three-yard catch in Sunday's 42-34 loss to the Chiefs.

The big rookie got loose midway through the second quarter for a 25-yard gain to set up a Texans touchdown. Despite his beefy exterior, Foreman has rattled off three plays of at least 25 yards in three weeks at this point. Still, it's hard to get too excited, no matter his talent, when he only gets nine offensive snaps out of 64. Through five weeks, starter Lamar Miller is averaging 19 touches per game. Foreman is averaging just over eight. Unless and until he begins vulturing goal-line carries, do not go all-in on Foreman.

  • Marlon Mack RB | ARI

Colts' Marlon Mack: Nursing elbow injury

Mack said that he hurt his elbow in the Colts' Week 5 win over the 49ers but doesn't expect to miss Sunday's game against the Titans as a result, Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star reports.

It doesn't look like the injury will put much of a damper on what was a breakout Week 5 performance for Mack, who returned from a two-game absence due to a shoulder issue to register a career-high 91 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. After the contest, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano hinted that Mack would see more involvement in the offense, according to George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin, putting the rookie's fantasy value on the rise. With lead back Frank Gore averaging a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry, the more explosive Mack should cut into the veteran's workload in the weeks to come if health prevails and he continues to provide big plays.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Undergoes ACL surgery

Cook posted on his personal Twitter account that his surgery Monday to repair the torn ACL in his left knee was successful.

Cook was on his way to an electrifying rookie campaign before suffering the injury in the Vikings' Week 4 loss to the Lions, resulting in an early end to his season. In the club's first game without Cook on Monday against the Bears, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer leaned primarily on Jerick McKinnon, who compiled 146 total yards and a touchdown on 22 touches, to fill the void. Meanwhile, free-agent pickup Latavius Murray amassed 43 yards on 14 touches, so he and McKinnon could factor prominently into the backfield mix as the Vikings look to replace Cook's production on the ground and through the air.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Could pick up extra snaps after Peterson trade

Kamara could earn a slightly larger workload out of the Saints' backfield after New Orleans traded Adrian Peterson to Arizona on Tuesday, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Because of the value Saints head coach Sean Payton places on the versatility in his running backs, Mark Ingram and Kamara, both of whom are superior pass catchers than Peterson, had already outpaced the 2012 NFL MVP in snaps through the team's first four games. Peterson nonetheless picked up 27 carries across those contests, so his departure should open up a few additional touches per game for both Ingram and Kamara, raising their overall fantasy ceilings.

  • Terrance West RB | BAL

Ravens' Terrance West: Set to miss Week 6

West (calf) isn't in line to suit up for the Ravens in their Week 6 matchup with the Bears, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Ravens haven't formally ruled West out yet, but that seems inevitable after he aggravated an existing calf injury in Sunday's win over the Raiders, resulting in him playing three snaps before departing. In anticipation of West's expected absence for at least one week, the Ravens signed Bobby Rainey on Tuesday to provide additional depth in the backfield, but it's likely that Alex Collins and Javorius Allen will handle the lion's share of the snaps at running back.
