  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Big rushing performance Sunday

McCaffrey rushed 28 times for 184 yards and hauled in both of his targets for 10 more yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Bengals.

McCaffrey was surprisingly quiet as a receiver, but he made up for it with a huge game on the ground. He set up a first-quarter Cam Newton touchdown with a career-long, 45-yard run. Newton's prowess as a short-yardage rusher (he scored two in this one), limits McCaffrey's scoring upside, but the second-year running back is a threat to pick up massive chunks of yardage in all situations. He'll have a chance to rest up after this heavy rushing workload with a bye next week.

  • Vikings' Latavius Murray: Struggles to produce versus Bills

Murray carried twice for one yard and caught five of seven targets for 30 yards during Sunday's 27-6 loss to the Bills.

Though Murray got the start in place of Dalvin Cook (hamstring), the Vikings surprisingly trailed all day and abandoned the running game rather early on. He saw his share of targets in the passing game, finishing second on the team in that category, but he finished with a relatively modest receiving output. Murray failed to take advantage of what looked like a favorable matchup on paper, although the game flow didn't exactly allow him to get going as a runner. Cook's injury doesn't seem likely to keep him out for an extended period of time, meaning he could return to take the lion's share of the backfield touches Thursday against the Rams.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Totals 190 scrimmage yards in Week 3 shootout

Kamara rushed 16 times for 66 yards and caught 15 of 20 targets for 124 yards in Sunday's 43-37 overtime win over the Falcons.

Kamara could've had an even bigger day, but he had two short touchdowns vultured on the ground by quarterback Drew Brees, including a one-yard score in overtime after a would-be Kamara touchdown was ruled just short. Still, it's tough for owners to complain about this effort, especially in PPR formats. The second-year running back has a whopping 430 scrimmage yards through three games heading into next week's road tilt against the Giants.

  • Corey Grant RB | JAC

Jaguars' Corey Grant: Quiet in Week 3 loss

Grant rushed six times for 11 yards and caught one of two targets for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 9-6 loss to Tennessee.

Grant got one fewer carry than T.J. Yeldon, but Yeldon outgained him 44-11 on the ground. Both running backs should stay involved against the Jets next week if Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is unavailable again.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Titans' Derrick Henry: Leading rusher in Week 3 win

Henry rushed 18 times for 57 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Jaguars.

Henry led his team in scrimmage yards, as offense was hard to come by in this low-scoring affair. This was nearly a mirror image of last week's performance, when Henry turned 18 carries into 56 yards. The power back is averaging just 3.0 yards per carry through three weeks, which doesn't bode well for his chances of finding success against a stout Eagles run defense next week.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Reenters Sunday's contest

Breida (knee) returned to Sunday's game in Kansas City, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Breida appeared to suffer a non-contact injury to his right knee in the first half, but after an evaluation, he tested it out with some jogging and cutting on the sideline and reentered the contest after halftime. As long as he doesn't aggravate the issue, he's poised to split running back reps with Alfred Morris.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Suffers apparent knee injury

Breida left Sunday's game at Kansas City with an apparent right knee injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Like teammate Jerick McKinnon in late August, Breida seemed to suffer the injury as his leg got caught before taking any contact, and he spent time in the sideline medical tent, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. The 49ers will do their due diligence to hone in on a diagnosis, but it's a good sign that the second-year back was doing some light jogging on the sideline after he was evaluated. Nevertheless, Alfred Morris will head the backfield for the foreseeable future.

  • Corey Grant RB | JAC

Jaguars' Corey Grant: Opportunity knocks with Fournette out

With Leonard Fournette (hamstring) inactive, Grant figures to see added opportunities in the Jaguars offense Sunday against the Titans.

T.J. Yeldon is slated to play through his ankle issue and figures to head the team's rushing attack, but Grant should see his share of touches in Week 3, after rushing four times for 13 yards and catching six of his seven targets for 56 yards in last Sunday's win over the Patriots. He's thus an option in PPR formats and for those scrambling for running back help this weekend.

  • Thomas Rawls RB | JAC

Bengals' Thomas Rawls: Won't suit up Week 3

Rawls (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Panthers.

Rawls missed some practice time this week due to general soreness, but he was back on the practice field both Thursday and Friday. This makes his inactive status a bit surprising, especially with regular starter Joe Mixon (knee) on the shelf. This move will leave Mark Walton as the only remaining healthy running back on the active roster behind presumed starter Giovani Bernard.

  • Corey Clement RB | ARI

Eagles' Corey Clement: Will serve in starting role Week 3

Clement (quadriceps) will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Colts, Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com reports.

With the quad injury Clement picked up Friday not considered a major concern, he'll suit up Week 3 and have a prime opportunity awaiting him with the top two backs on the depth chart, Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring), both ruled out for the afternoon. Clement shined in a supporting role in last week's win over the Buccaneers with 85 total yards and a touchdown on 11 touches (six carries, five receptions), but he should see his involvement on the ground pick up considerably while Ajayi is sidelined. Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams are also on hand to provide depth behind Clement, though it's unclear if head coach Doug Pederson plans to take a true committee approach to the backfield or lean heavily on Clement as the team's lead back.
