Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: Considered 'doubtful' to play Week 6
Coach Kyle Shanahan called Breida (ankle) "doubtful" for next Monday's game at Green Bay, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
After Breida was diagnosed with a mid-ankle sprain earlier Monday, the 49ers seem to be coming to their senses with the running back, who has tended to a separated shoulder, hyperextended right knee and another shoulder injury since the preseason opener. Despite having the benefit of an extra day to prepare for a visit to Lambeau Field, Shanahan seems resigned to the fact Breida will be hard-pressed to be cleared to play Week 5. A bit of rest should be welcomed by Breida with the 49ers schedule offering up three games in the span of 12 days from Weeks 6-8. Barring an addition to the backfield, expect Alfred Morris to be the lead runner, Kyle Juszczyk to act as the pass-catching back and Raheem Mostert to provide support during Breida's likely absence.

Samaje Perine RB | CIN
Redskins' Samaje Perine: Remains inactive Week 5
Perine (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Monday at New Orleans.
Perine has yet to be on the Redskins' 46-man active roster for gamedays this season, likely due to the effective backfield duo of Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. The preceding likely will be Perine's reality unless something befalls Peterson or Thompson.

Brandon Wilds RB | JAC
Jaguars' Brandon Wilds: Could see increased role
Wilds rushed twice for six yards after Corey Grant exited Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Chiefs with a foot injury.
Grant is headed to injured reserve after suffering a Lisfranc injury, leaving Wilds and T.J. Yeldon as Jacksonville's only healthy running backs since Leonard Fournette continues to battle a hamstring injury. Yeldon dominated the playing time Sunday -- he was on the field for 93 percent of offensive snaps -- but Wilds could be in line for an increased role while Fournette remains sidelined. The Jaguars are likely to add another running back in the near future to bolster their depth at the position.

Doug Martin RB | LV
Raiders' Doug Martin: Accumulates one total yard Sunday
Martin rushed for one yard on two carries and failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Chargers.
Martin was generally uninvolved Week 5 as the Raiders played from behind for most of the contest, while starter Marshawn Lynch logged only nine carries of his own. Oakland failed to get anything going on the ground as they rushed for 41 yards on 13 carries as a team, though fellow backup Jalen Richard hauled in a team-high six passes. Martin's usage figures to remain limited heading into a Week 6 matchup against the Seahawks.
-
C.J. Anderson RB | LAR
Panthers' C.J. Anderson: Continues to be used sparingly
Anderson rushed four times for nine yards in Sunday's 33-31 win over the Giants.
Anderson continues to play a bit part as Christian McCaffrey's backup, featuring for only eight offensive snaps Sunday. Through four games, he's been handed just 16 carries, gaining a respectable 84 yards.

Saquon Barkley RB | PHI
Giants' Saquon Barkley: Injury not a concern
Barkley, who evidently tweaked his back late in Week 5 action, is "fine, healthy and ready to go," according to coach Pat Shurmur, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
It's great news for those stressing over the fact that Barkley came out of Sunday's 33-31 loss to the Panthers a little banged up, especially with the Giants playing again Thursday night against the Eagles. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft hauled in four passes for 81 yards and two scores, to go along with 15 carries for 48 more yards Sunday.

Corey Clement RB | ARI
Eagles' Corey Clement: Could see added work with Ajayi on IR
Clement's teammate, Jay Ajayi (knee), has been placed on IR.
Clement was active, but did not see any snaps, in Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Vikings, as he's been dealing with a quad injury. Once fully healthy, however, he'll be a candidate for added work in the wake of Ajayi's injury, as will Wendell Smallwood. Meanwhile, Darren Sproles, who has missed time with a hamstring injury, should reclaim a share of the team's change-of-pace duties upon his return.

Matt Breida RB | SF
49ers' Matt Breida: Gets good news from MRI
Breida received good news from an MRI on Monday, revealing that his injury is a mid-ankle sprain without any significant damage, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
This doesn't mean Breida will avoid missed time, but it's at least worth noting he's already played at a high level this season while battling through a hyperextended knee and a separated shoulder. He also gets a bit of assistance from the schedule, with the Niners traveling to Lambeau Field for Monday Night Football in Week 6. Alfred Morris will get more work if Breida isn't able to play, with Raheem Mostert and fullback Kyle Juszczyk also candidates for expanded roles. Despite the good news Monday afternoon, Breida doesn't seem likely to practice Thursday when the 49ers need to release their initial Week 6 injury report. The team's 1-4 record and minimal playoff chances might encourage a cautious approach, especially given that Breida probably has some lingering discomfort from the other injuries.

Kenjon Barner RB | TB
Patriots' Kenjon Barner: Rejoins New England
Barner re-signed with the Patriots on Monday, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports.
Barner has now signed with the Patriots three times in the past month, with each of his last two stints lasting less than two weeks. This may end the discussion about New England re-signing Mike Gillislee, who might have posed a threat to Sony Michel's workload near the goal line. Barner shouldn't have much impact on either Michel or James White.

Thomas Rawls RB | JAC
Bengals' Thomas Rawls: Zero offensive snaps in Bengals debut
Rawls logged two snaps on special teams during Sunday's 27-17 victory over the Dolphins.
Rawls, who signed with the Bengals in mid-September, was active for the first time this season to provide depth at running back with Giovani Bernard (knee) sidelined. However, Cincinnati was content with letting Joe Mixon handle the entirety of the rushing workload. While Rawls may stick on the active roster until Bernard returns in the coming weeks, don't expect him to get many, if any, chances on offense as long as Joe Mixon is healthy.
