Penny rushed eight times for 22 yards and a touchdown and brought in all three of his targets for 15 yards in the Seahawks' 23-15 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday.

All of the Seahawks' healthy running backs saw time Saturday, with Penny checking in behind only Travis Homer in carries. While the 2018 first-round pick wasn't efficient on the ground by any stretch, he did make a solid impact in the passing game. Chris Carson seemingly has a firm hold on the lead-back role to start the season, but Penny is certainly projected for a notable boost in the 85 carries and 12 targets he logged across 14 games in his rookie season.

Kelly rushed 10 times for 32 yards and brought in his only target for 12 yards in the Rams' 10-6 preseason win over the Broncos on Saturday.

Kelly saw six more touches overall than Justin Davis, his primary competition for the No. 4 running back job. While he wasn't very efficient on the ground, he did double up Davis in rushing attempts. The job battle appears headed for a final chapter in Thursday's preseason finale versus the Texans.

Kamara rushed twice for four yards and caught two of three targets for 29 yards in Saturday's 28-13 preseason win over the Jets.

Kamara did all his damage on the opening drive, breaking away from linebacker Neville Hewitt to get free for a 25-yard third-down catch on his biggest play. With Mark Ingram now in Baltimore, the explosive Kamara could see an increase in workload in 2019 after totaling 1,592 scrimmage yards and 18 touchdowns on 275 touches last season.

Wilson ran for 45 yards on 12 carries, scoring two rushing touchdowns during Saturday's 27-17 preseason win against the Chiefs.

With Saturday night's performance in the books, Wilson now leads the 49ers in rushing yards over the past two weeks, while logging three combined scores on the ground against Denver and Kansas City. He didn't account for a single rushing or receiving touchdown in six regular-season appearances for San Francisco last year, though he did average north of four yards per carry, while having one explosive receiving performance -- eight catches for 73 yards against Seattle in Week 13. Wilson has been productive when granted opportunities within Kyle Shanahan's offense, but competing within one of the most top-loaded position groups in the NFL, he isn't guaranteed substantial playing time if he's able to secure a roster spot behind presumed No. 1 and 2 options Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida.

Higdon gained 28 yards on 13 carries and failed to bring in his only target during Saturday's 34-0 preseason loss to the Cowboys.

Higdon recorded 10 more carries than any other running back on the roster, though he came away with an underwhelming average of 2.2 yards per carry. His futility looks even worse considering the rest of the ball carriers for the Texans racked up 57 yards on just nine totes. Perhaps the most important news for Higdon was that of a potentially serious injury to Lamar Miller, which could give him a shot to make the team when the regular season rolls around. To do that he will need to come through with a strong performance in the exhibition finale against the Rams.

Williams ran for two yards on his one carry, but hauled in all three of his targets for a game-high 74 receiving yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 27-17 preseason loss to San Francisco.

A fantasy revelation over the final quarter of 2018, Williams looked explosive in his second preseason appearance of 2018. Patrick Mahomes flipped the ball out to Williams on a third-down wheel route near midfield, and the 27-year-old back did the rest, scampering 45 yards after the catch and picking up a block from teammate Demarcus Robinson en route to the first score of the night. Over his past six regular, post and preseason appearances -- excluding last week's brief appearance against the Steelers in which he was targeted once but received zero offensive touches -- Williams has averaged 108 yards from scrimmage per game with nine total touchdowns.

Pollard gained 26 yards on six carries and added two catches for 10 yards during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

Pollard averaged a respectable 4.3 yards per carry and looked especially explosive on a 20-yard carry in the first quarter. He also added a pair of five-yard receptions before taking a seat in the second period. The exciting rookie has certainly caught some eyes during the preseason and seems to be the likeliest option to step into a prominent role during the duration of Ezekiel Elliott's holdout. Should it extend into the regular season, Pollard would be poised to start in Week 1 against the Giants.

Washington sustained a concussion in Saturday's preseason matchup with the Jets, Luke Johnson of USA Today reports.

It's unclear how long Washington will need to recover and pass through the league's concussion protocol. The 25-year-old carried the ball eight times for 29 yards (3.6 YPC) before exiting the game. While Washington's sidelined, Jacquizz Rodgers seems to be the candidate to receive extra reps.

Boone carried the ball 10 times for 41 yards and found the end zone in the Vikings' third preseason game against the Cardinals on Saturday. He also added one reception for six yards.

Boone was the most productive back on the team besides Dalvin Cook, highlighted by a 20-yard gain towards the end of the third quarter. He also added a seven-yard rushing touchdown to put the Vikings ahead for good one quarter later. While still situated behind Alexander Mattison, Boone's status on the team could depend on what the team decides to do with previously touted Ameer Abdullah.

Mostert didn't play in Saturday's preseason game at Kansas City due to a minor quadriceps injury, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Mostert already missed some time during training camp with a concussion, but this marks his first DNP of exhibition season. While just Jerick McKinnon (knee) had a known health concern before this contest, the 49ers backfield has been in regular flux in both of coach Kyle Shanahan's seasons to date. Mostert will look to shed the injury before the team's preseason finale Thursday versus the Chargers.
