  • Chase Edmonds RB | WAS

Cardinals' Chase Edmonds: No practice Wednesday

Edmonds (hamstring) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Meanwhile, David Johnson practiced fully and noted afterward he's "definitely playing" Sunday at Tampa Bay, per Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site. With Johnson past his ankle injury and Kenyan Drake coming off a dynamic debut with the team, the Cardinals can proceed cautiously with Edmonds. Still, a decision on Edmonds' Week 10 availability may not come until the end of the week.

  • Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Doesn't practice Wednesday

McCaffrey was held out of practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Last week, McCaffrey tended to a knee issue, which limited his practice reps in the Panthers' first session before he returned in full one day later. His status bears monitoring as the current week progresses, but there doesn't seem to be any worry about his availability for Sunday's visit to Green Bay. McCaffrey will draw a favorable matchup against a defense that has given up 158.2 yards from scrimmage per game and 11 touchdowns to running backs in nine contests this season.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Boost in blocking incoming

Breida and co-starter Tevin Coleman are set to receive huge boosts in the rushing game with the potential returns of left tackle Joe Staley (lower leg), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (knee) and right tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee) as soon as Monday's game against the Seahawks, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

All three key cogs in the 49ers' blocking unit returned to practice Tuesday after lengthy layoffs. McGlinchey's status is still in question, but Staley and Juszczyk claimed that they are both "100 percent" heading into a pivotal matchup against the Seahawks. San Francisco has been making do while its starting tackles and fullback remained sidelined, but some (or all) of their returns will provide a huge boost in producing running lanes for both Breida and Coleman, who have been splitting touches and gashing defenses fairly evenly this season. Breida has performed well in the seven contests since Staley went down to injury, rushing for 487 yards (5.8 yards per carry) and scoring two total touchdowns over that span. That said, there is no doubt that having both All-Pro tackles and a fullback -- a position key to Kyle Shanahan's power-run scheme -- will make life easier for both of San Francisco's running backs for the second half of the campaign.

  • Bears' Cordarrelle Patterson: Snags one pass in loss

Patterson caught a five-yard pass on his only target and added 34 yards on two kick returns during Sunday's 22-14 loss to Philadelphia.

Patterson is among the league's best kick returners, ranking first in the NFL with 451 return yards and second with 30.1 yards per kick return, but that explosiveness hasn't translated to the offense. Patterson is averaging just one catch per game and 4.9 yards per catch. The Bears' passing attack, in general, has been weak due to the regression of Mitchell Trubisky and it's difficult to imagine Patterson's talents as a returner transferring over to offense at this point in his career, even Sunday against Detroit's 30th-ranked pass defense.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Records first catch of 2019

Wilson caught a two-yard pass during Thursday's 28-25 win over Arizona.

Wilson's target was just his second of the season after 15 targets in six games in 2018. Wilson has had some big games in his first two seasons in the league, including back-to-back two-score games in Weeks 2 and 3 when San Francisco's backfield was banged up. The sophomore back can produce in Kyle Shanahan's offense when given the opportunity, but at the moment there are too many other weapons available to give Wilson those opportunities. Next up is a Seattle defense surrendering 4.7 yards per carry, sixth worst in the league.

  • Craig Reynolds: Waived by Washington

Reynolds was waived by the Redskins on Tuesday, The Athletic's Rhiannon Walker reports.

Reynolds did not log a single offensive snap in three games after being promoted to the Redskins' active roster, but he'll now potentially be a candidate to rejoin the practice squad. The roster move indicates an expectation that fellow running back Derrius Guice (knee) will return for a Week 11 matchup against the Jets.

  • Josh Jacobs RB | GB

Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Turns in full workout

Jacobs (shoulder) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.

Jacobs' unrestricted showing clears up any concern about his health heading into Thursday's game against the Chargers. The rookie should be in store for another sizable workload after earning no fewer than 17 touches in any of the Raiders' past five games.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Steelers' James Conner: Could be back Week 10

Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he's "optimistic" Conner (shoulder) will be ready to play Week 10 against the Rams, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Per Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site, Tomlin noted that Conner would remain limited in the early portion of the team's practice schedule this week, but the coach expects the running back will be able to ramp things up as Sunday's game approaches. If Conner incurs no setbacks with his sprained right shoulder during practice, he could be ready to step back into his normal lead role out of the backfield right away after a one-game absence. Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds (ribs) split the backfield reps in the Week 9 win over the Colts, with the former making his biggest impact in the passing game and the latter leading the Steelers' ground attack.

  • Benny Snell RB | DET

Steelers' Benny Snell: Won't play in Week 10

Snell (knee) has already been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Rams, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.

Shortly after the Steelers' Oct. 28 win over the Dolphins, Snell underwent surgery to trim the meniscus on his injured knee. The recovery timeline for the procedure is estimated at 2-to-3 weeks, so it comes as little surprise that the rookie will be sidelined for a second straight game. Trey Edmunds will continue to operate as the No. 3 option on the depth chart for the duration of Snell's absence.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Reclaims minor role against Pats

Hill had three carries for seven yards Sunday against the Patriots.

After seeing his usage bottom out in Seattle, Hill got himself slightly more involved in the offense coming off the bye against New England. He played 10 snaps and got work on three of those plays, though Hill was ineffective on those runs as he averaged just 2.3 yards per carry. Hill hasn't played more than seven snaps in any game this season and has has played five-or-less snaps in four of his last five outings.
