  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

    Bengals' Joe Mixon: Labeled day-to-day

Coach Zac Taylor said Sunday that Mixon (migraine) is day-to-day. Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.

Mixon has not practiced since Monday while dealing with migraines, and he also sat out Sunday's scrimmage. He was at least present on the sidelines at the Bengals' most recent session, which could be considered a step in the right direction given that he was completely absent earlier in the week.

  • Travis Homer RB | PIT

Seahawks' Travis Homer: No practice Sunday

Homer (undisclosed) was held out of Sunday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Homer and Carlos Hyde were both unable to practice Sunday, leaving DeeJay Dallas and Patrick Carr as the only available options behind top running back Chris Carson. Barring injury, the 2019 sixth-round pick looks to be in the mix for the No. 3 backfield gig.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Still not practicing

Mixon (migraine) is still out for Sunday's scrimmage, but was present on the sidelines, James Rapien of SI.com reports.

Earlier in the week coach Zac Taylor affirmed that he believed Mixon's absence was legit, and not contract-related. Mixon previously hadn't been on the sidelines earlier in the week, so his physical presence Sunday can be construed as a positive.

  • Saints' Dwayne Washington: Lands on COVID-19 list

The Saints placed Washington on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.

It's unclear whether Washington has contracted the virus or come in contact with someone who has, but he'll need to pass the necessary protocols to return to the team. Washington is fighting to retain a depth role after the Saints signed Ty Montgomery and undrafted free agent Tony Jones this offseason.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Needs MRI for ankle

Perine is scheduled for an MRI after suffering an ankle injury Sunday afternoon, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.

Perine was able to exit the practice field without assistance, but he reportedly wasn't putting much pressure on his injured leg. His work with the second-string offense has earned the attention of beat writers, but it's nonetheless been Le'Veon Bell and Frank Gore dominating reps with the first unit. Any absence for Perine would open the door for Kalen Ballage and/or Josh Adams (hamstring) to step up as the No. 3 RB, a role that could largely be limited to special teams work if Bell and Gore stay healthy.

  • Zack Moss RB | CIN

Bills' Zack Moss: Neck injury surfaces

Moss was listed as a non-contact participant Sunday due to a neck issue, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.

Moss's injury at first glance appears more minor than some of the other injured Bills, as they were all listed as missing practice while Moss was the only non-contact participant. We'll see if he can shake that label in the coming days as he continues to work toward a chunk of playing time to open the season in tandem with Devin Singletary.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: Exits with possible leg injury

Perine limped off the field at Sunday's practice with an apparent left leg injury, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.

Hughes says the injury "did not look great," with Perine's leg awkwardly bending under him. The rookie was able to limp off the field to be examined by the training staff, at least showing that he didn't need to be carted off. Perine made a strong impression on beat reporters with a 79-yard touchdown and a 36-yard scamper in Wednesday's scrimmage, but he mostly seems to be working with backups, solidly behind Le'Veon Bell and Frank Gore. It isn't clear if the No. 3 backfield job will entail any snaps or touches at the beginning of the season.

  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Back at practice

Jones (ankle) is taking part in Sunday's practice, donning full pads in the session, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Jones' presence on the field suggests the left ankle sprain he picked up in Friday's scrimmage was only a minor concern. Assuming he enters the regular season healthy, Jones should be slated to start for the Buccaneers after coach Bruce Arians identified the 23-year-old as the team's "main guy" in the backfield in 2020.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Drops two passes in scrimmage

Taylor had two dropped passes in Saturday's scrimmage, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports.

While Taylor has drawn raves in training camp, he'll need to improve as a receiver to claim a larger share of the touches in the backfield, where he's expected to split time with Marlon Mack. Taylor had issues with drops in college, so his 4-5 drops during training camp, according to Bowen, are a cause for concern.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Misses time again with rib injury

Gordon did not practice Saturday during the team's scrimmage due to a rib injury, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.

Gordon suffered a rib injury a little less than two weeks ago, but he was cleared to return to practice Monday. While it's unclear if the veteran suffered some sort of setback, it's at least somewhat concerning that Gordon didn't participate in the team's scrimmage. Coach Vic Fangio also seemed to echo that concern but suggested Gordon would be back "sooner rather than later." Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay split the first-team reps in Gordon's absence Saturday.
