Montgomery rushed 21 times for 89 yards and caught two passes for 16 yards in the Bears' 26-23 loss in overtime to the Saints on Sunday.

For the first time since Week 2, Montgomery rushed for over 3.4 yards per carry, as he consistently was able to fight through initial contact to produce positive yardage. He was also targeted five times, which represents the fifth straight game he's had that many looks in the passing game, and he continues to perform as a volume-based running back option with a solid scoring floor for fantasy managers.

Perine rushed eight times for 27 yards and caught both of his targets for six more in Sunday's 35-9 loss to Kansas City.

Perine and Frank Gore (hand) split the backfield workload with 10 touches apiece. It would make sense for the winless Jets to give the 22-year-old rookie most of the work over the 37-year-old Gore, but coach Adam Gase seems to have other ideas. With a Patriots team that has lost four consecutive games coming to town in Week 9, New York has a better chance of avoiding a negative game script and staying committed to the run.

Gaskin rushed 18 times for 47 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of six targets for 16 yards in the Dolphins' 28-17 win over the Rams on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

Gaskin struggled for running room against the Rams' typically accommodating run defense, but he helped fantasy managers with his one-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. That score atoned for a lost fumble, the first of Gaskin's career, earlier in the period. The 2019 seventh-round pick now has logged double-digit carries in five straight games, leaving no doubt as to his leading status in Miami's backfield. He'll look put together another productive performance versus the Cardinals in Week 9.

Conner registered 47 rushing yards and one touchdown on 15 carries, adding three catches for 13 yards during Sunday's 28-24 win against the Ravens.

Conner scored rushing TDs in four consecutive appearances between Weeks 2 and 6, but he was unable to break into the end zone during Pittsburgh's preceding game against Tennessee despite fielding a season-high 23 offensive touches. The fourth-year back notched an important score in Sunday's AFC North clash, pushing the Steelers ahead 21-17 with 5:38 to go in the third quarter by way of his one-yard TD plunge. He's enjoyed a prominent offensive role of 18.3 touches per game as Pittsburgh readies for a Week 9 matchup against Dallas' 32nd-ranked rush defense.

Hines carried five times for eight yards while adding three receptions (on five targets) for an additional 54 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.

Hines did little with the handful of carries he received but made a splash as a receiver with touchdown receptions of 22 and 29 yards in the second quarter. He had generated just 57 scrimmage yards with no touchdowns over the last two games, so this performance came as something of a surprise for fantasy managers who were eyeing this week's matchup. Jordan Wilkins also contributed quite a bit in this one while taking the reins from an ineffective Jonathan Taylor, but Hines' role as the team's pass-catching specialist out of the backfield seems secure heading into next Sunday's matchup with the Ravens.

Singletary rushed 14 times for 86 yards and caught his only target for another six in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots.

Singletary was heavily involved from the get-go with blustering winds creating run-friendly conditions. Buffalo's first four offensive plays were handoffs to Singletary, and the fifth was a pass to the second-year running back. Singletary mustered only 18 yards on those five plays, however, and the pendulum swung Zack Moss's way from there. Moss capped the opening drive with a touchdown and added another score in the third quarter, though Singletary had one more touch and six more scrimmage yards than the rookie. Singletary has scored just one touchdown in eight games compared to Moss's three in five appearances, but they should maintain close to an even split in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Dillon carried the ball five times for 21 yards and caught his only target for 16 yards in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Vikings.

The 37 scrimmage yards were a career high for the rookie, but for the second straight game Dillon's touches were limited while working behind Jamaal Williams, even with Aaron Jones (calf) sidelined. If Jones is able to return to action in Week 9, Dillon's role could shrink even further.

Williams carried the ball 16 times for 75 yards and caught all six of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Vikings. He also ran in a two-point conversion.

It was a strong performance, but Davante Adams ended up scoring all three of Green Bay's TDs, preventing Williams from putting together an even bigger day. The fourth-year back has now topped 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games, but his workload and production in Week 9's road trip to San Francisco will depend on the health of Aaron Jones (calf).

Edwards registered 87 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries during Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Steelers.

Edwards was inserted into a prominent role Week 6 against the Eagles as Mark Ingram (ankle) exited after nine offensive snaps. The Miami product garnered a season-high 14 carries during a 30-28 win over Philadelphia, and Sunday he again set a 2020 best in that category while establishing a 5.4 yards-per-carry average. There's no guarantee Ingram returns next Sunday against the Colts, as he continues to recuperate from a high-ankle issue. In a scenario in which Ingram sits again, Edwards would likely continue to split carries with J.K. Dobbins atop the Baltimore backfield. It's a challenging matchup upcoming, as Indianapolis held Detroit to a measly 29 team rushing yards during Week 8.

Wilkins carried 20 times for 89 yards and a touchdown while turning his only target into a 24-yard catch during Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.

Wilkins had received just two carries over the previous two games but got more of a look in this one due to the struggles of rookie Jonathan Taylor, who generated just 31 yards on his 13 touches. He averaged a much more respectable 4.5 yards per carry and converted a one-yard touchdown a single play after Taylor was stuffed from the same distance. Nyheim Hines also scored a pair of touchdowns in this one, so the team's backfield picture has become quite unclear heading into next Sunday's tough matchup with the Ravens.
