Homer should rotate with DeeJay Dallas in Sunday's game against the Rams following news that Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (hamstring) are out, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.

Homer looked fully healthy in last week's loss to the Bills. While he gained just 16 yards on six carries, he caught all three targets for 64 yards, including a 50-yard reception. The game script favored him, too, as the Seahawks dug a deep hole right away and passed more than usual, keeping Homer on the field for his pass-blocking acumen. The second-year back out of Miami should have a handful of opportunities this Sunday, especially if it turns into a shootout, but Dallas may have more upside as an early down and goal-line back.

The Seahawks will play a third straight week with their top two running backs on the sidelines. Last week when the Seahawks were trailing almost the entire game, Homer led the backfield with a 48 percent snap share, and the two backs both handled nine touches. Homer finished with 80 total yards, including a 50-yard reception, and Dallas totaled 39 total yards and a score. While Dallas doesn't get much work in the passing game, he's the designated goal-line back and has rushed five times within the five-yard line over the past two games. He should have solid upside once again with a potentially high-scoring game on tap.

Breida (hamstring) isn't expected to play Sunday against the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The 25-year-old is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's contest, but it appears he hasn't progressed well since injury designations were announced Friday. Breida could step into the starting role if able to play since Myles Gaskin (knee) is sidelined, but he instead seems likely to miss his second straight contest due to the hamstring injury. If Breida is indeed unable to play against Los Angeles, Salvon Ahmed is poised to lead the backfield while Jordan Howard handles short-yardage and goal-line work.

Drake (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Bills but will have his availability determined after a pregame workout, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday the 26-year-old would be a game-time decision Sunday, and his outlook appears largely unchanged. Drake missed last week's loss to Miami due to the slight ligament tear in his ankle, but thanks to the Week 8 bye he may only end up missing one game. Chase Edmunds handled nearly all the backfield reps in his place and figures to do so again versus Buffalo should Drake be unable to take the field.

Mixon (foot) was officially ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The only thing surprising about this designation is that it didn't come sooner considering Mixon was unable to practice all week. Giovani Bernard will once again get the start in a difficult matchup with Samaje Perine expected to aid as a complementary piece.

Patterson could be in line for more opportunities after David Montgomery (concussion) was ruled out ahead of Monday's game.

Patterson is technically listed as the No. 2 option behind Montgomery, but it's fair to question if the Bears would expect the nimble specialist to operate in a similar capacity. The 29-year-old did carry the ball 21 times over a two-week stretch with the Patriots back in 2018, but he's otherwise seen more than six carries one either time in his career -- Week 2 against the Giants following Tarik Cohen's season-ending knee injury. While Patterson will likely play the most snaps of any Bears running back, expect to see a combination of Ryan Nall, Artavis Pierce and even practice-squad call-up Lamar Miller also take a handful of carries in a clear committee approach.

Montgomery (concussion) will not play in Monday's matchup against the Vikings.

Montgomery was unable to practice all week, and it looks like the team will err on the side of caution with its second-year running back. The team has a Week 11 bye, so his next chance to return will come in Week 12 versus the Packers. In his absence, Chicago will go to Cordarrelle Patterson as their primary option in the backfield, while Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce will also be available. It should be noted the team could also elevate Lamar Miller from the practice squad.

Chubb (knee) will be activated off injured reserve and play in Sunday's game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Coach Kevin Stefanski suggested Chubb would need to receive approval from the medical staff to play, so Saturday's designation should give fantasy managers plenty of confidence to insert the star running back into their lineups. It's entirely possible the Browns could still be cautious with Chubb's workload, particularly with Kareem Hunt's more-than-adequate stint as a starter, but it's hard to believe the team would activate Chubb if it didn't plan to play in some capacity. The matchup certainly couldn't be much better to get Chubb some confidence, as the Texans allow the most rushing yards per game in the NFL.

McKinnon may be in line for a significant workload with Tevin Coleman (knee) ruled out for Sunday's contest at New Orleans, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

McKinnon handled a 74-percent share of the snaps on offense Week 9 against the Packers with Coleman sidelined and Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson on IR with ankle sprains. The result was 15 touches for 68 yards from scrimmage and one TD, while JaMycal Hasty played 26 percent of the plays en route to six touches for 13 yards. A similar breakdown of RB reps seems likely Sunday against a Saints defense that has yielded 100.8 total yards per game and five touchdowns to running backs in eight games this season.

Coach Matt Rhule is hopeful McCaffrey (shoulder) can return for a Week 11 game against the Lions, ESPN's David Newton reports.

McCaffrey was held out of practice this week and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, but the Panthers remain hopeful his AC joint injury won't require a multi-week absence. The missed game Sunday will be McCaffrey's seventh this season, giving Mike Davis yet another chance to fill the lead backfield role.
