Snell did not dress for Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Snell returned to practice Tuesday and was expected to be active for the contest. It's not clear what caused the change in his status, but it may not bode well for his chances to secure the backup running back role in Pittsburgh.

McCaffrey suited up but did not play in Saturday's preseason game against Baltimore.

The Panthers were content to let their star runner rest through two preseason games, and it wouldn't be surprising if that applies to the third and final preseason game as well. Carolina will likely put big mileage on McCaffrey once the regular season arrives, and he has nothing to prove in the meantime.

The Raiders might view Jacobs and Kenyan Drake similarly to coach Jon Gruden's Tyrone Wheatley and Charlie Garner backfields, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com.

While Jacobs might match the Wheatley aesthetic more than the speedy, pass-catching skill set of Garner, Jacobs is still the heavy favorite to remain the clear leader between himself and Drake. Drake, meanwhile, is expected to play an off-the-bench role with a pass-catching emphasis. Particularly if the Raiders cut or bench Jalen Richard, there could be room for Jacobs and Drake to coexist.

Cook was seen without a helmet and wearing a mask prior to Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, Judd Zulgad of SKOR North Minneapolis reports.

The Vikings released a list of players who were not expected to play in the game, and Cook was absent from that list. However, this more recent development suggests he may not get game action after all. Justin Jefferson (shoulder) also will be sidelined, while Kirk Cousins is expected to start under center.

Henry is suited up but is not expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Henry of course has nothing to prove, so the Titans would be served better by handing reps to his backup candidates than Henry himself. Brian Hill, Jeremy McNichols and Mekhi Sargent are fighting for the spot behind Henry and Darrynton Evans (knee).

Taylor won't see action in Saturday night's preseason game against the Vikings, per Larra Overton of the Colts' official site reports.

The same applies to WR T.Y. Hilton and TE Jack Doyle. Taylor also may be held out of the Colts' preseason finale, so the running back may not see his next game action until Week 1 of the regular season.

Cook is not listed among the players the Vikings indicated aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins is expected to start at QB for the Vikings on Saturday, while WR Justin Jefferson (shoulder) is in line to sit. Assuming Cook does take the field Saturday, it remains to be seen how many touches he might see, but it seems unlikely he'll handle a heavy workload for the team until Week 1 of the regular season.

Per Steve Reed of the Associated Press, the same applies to QB Sam Darnold and WRs DJ Moore and Robby Anderson, but it remains to be seen how much action they're in line to see. In McCaffrey's case, if he does see the field Saturday night, it likely wouldn't be for long.

The Raiders might view Drake and Josh Jacobs similarly to coach Jon Gruden's Charlie Garner and Tyrone Wheatley backfields, according to ESPN.com.

The Raiders have invested a lot in Jacobs and paid up for Drake in free agency, so they likely intend to make both players productive in 2021. With Jacobs as the starter and bruising power runner between the two, Las Vegas will look to Drake to change up the pace and offer a leaner, more speedy look in the backfield when Jacobs needs a breather. Garner was a much better pass catcher and much better player generally than Drake is, but Drake could still hold a sizeable presence as the lightning element to Jacobs' thunder in 2021.

Montgomery did not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Bills, Larry Mayer of the Bears' official site reports.

Montgomery overcame an undisclosed injury to return to practice earlier in the week, though the team decided to play it safe with its workhorse back. Damien Williams worked as the primary back in Montgomery's place and carried the ball five times for eight yards. It remains to be seen whether Montgomery will get touches in the team's final preseason game against Tennessee, though the focus presumably will be on him maintaining his health for the regular season.
