  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

49ers' Jeff Wilson: Returning to practice soon

The 49ers are expected to open the practice window for Wilson (knee) this week, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wilson has resided on the PUP list since the start of training camp due to May surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Such a listing required him to spend at least the first six contests of the season on the sideline, but he wasn't expected to be ready for game action until midseason in any case. If the 49ers designate Wilson to return in the coming days, he'll have a three-week window in which to prove the health of his knee. The team is down Raheem Mostert for the season with chipped cartilage in his left knee, leaving Elijah Mitchell (ribs), JaMycal Hasty, Trey Sermon and Trenton Cannon as the running backs on San Francisco's active roster.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Tending to rib injury

Mitchell is dealing with a rib injury and is expected to be limited in practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Mitchell ran roughshod over the Bears on Sunday, turning 18 carries into 137 yards and one touchdown. It marked his third 100-yard game in five appearances as a pro, but he's also now poised to appear on the 49ers' injury report for the second time this season. With practice limitations set to be placed on Mitchell, the team's healthy running backs are JaMycal Hasty, Trey Sermon and Trenton Cannon, while Jeff Wilson's (knee) practice window to return from the PUP list may open this week and Raheem Mostert (knee) is out for the season.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Just four touches Sunday

Mattison had two carries for five yards and lost five yards on two receptions in Sunday's 20-16 loss to Dallas.

Mattison played eight snaps on offense as he had a minimal role with Dalvin Cook fully healthy. Mattison eclipsed 100 rushing yards in both spot starts when Cook has sat out this season, so he's one of the more valuable backups in the league. However, Mattison likely will have minimal fantasy value most games when Cook is healthy.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Titans' Derrick Henry: Officially on IR

Henry (foot) has been placed on IR by the Titans, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

This was an expected move, with Wyatt having previously noted that the running back is slated to undergo foot surgery Tuesday. Though coach Mike Vrabel didn't offer a timetable for Henry's recovery, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has suggested that Henry is expected to miss 6-10 weeks. In the meantime, Jeremy McNichols, Dontrell Hilliard and practice-squad member Mekhi Sargent are internal options to see added backfield work, while veteran RB Adrian Peterson reportedly is in line to be added to Tennessee's practice squad, with the expectation he'll be promoted to the team's active roster.

  • Colts' Nyheim Hines: Four receptions Sunday

Hines had one carry for two yards and four receptions for 22 yards on five targets in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to Tennessee.

Hines played on 25 of the offense's 80 snaps despite being limited in practice last week due to a rib injury. He was tied for third on the team in targets, but continues to have a limited role in the offense, as he hasn't had a game with more than 10 touches since Week 3.

  • Deon Jackson RB | DET

Colts' Deon Jackson: Signed off practice squad

Jackson was signed to the Colts' active roster ahead of Thursday's Week 9 matchup against the Jets.

Jackson joined the active roster for Sunday's overtime loss to the Titans but played just 13 snaps on special teams. He's unlikely to have a significant role against the Jets.

  • Jaguars' Dare Ogunbowale: Three touches Week 8

Ogunbowale had two carries for nine yards and caught his lone target for nine yards during Sunday's 31-7 loss at Seattle.

Ogunbowale played a season-high 15 offensive snaps with James Robinson (ankle) exiting early Sunday, while Carlos Hyde dominated the snaps and backfield touches the rest of the way. Robinson is considered day-to-day and appears to have avoided a serious injury, but Ogunbowale would still only be in line for a change-of-pace role if Hyde were forced to be the fill-in starter.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Logs eight carries Sunday

Stevenson carried eight times for 25 yards and caught one of his two targets for five yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Chargers.

Stevenson was on the field for 12 off a possible 77 snaps on offense in the contest, while lead back Damien Harris was out there for 41 snaps en route to carrying 23 times for 80 yards and a TD, and Brandon Bolden (25 snaps) ran four times for 26 yards. As long as Harris remains available, Stevenson's volume figures to remain sporadic, and another variable to consider is that different weeks and different game plans could lead to J.J. Taylor reentering the team's backfield mix as well.

  • Patriots' Brandon Bolden: No catches in Week 8

Bolden was on the field for 25 off a possible 77 snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Chargers en route to carrying four times for 26 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

A week after catching six passes on seven targets for 79 yards and a TD in New England's 54-13 win over the Jets, Bolden wasn't targeted at all Sunday. Meanwhile, lead back Damien Harris (41 snaps) carried 23 times for 80 yards and a TD and didn't catch his only target, while Rhamondre Stevenson (12 snaps) ran eight times for 25 yards and caught one pass (on two targets) for five yards. Looking ahead, Bolden figures to have some PPR-worthy efforts as the season progresses, but that's something that will hinge on weekly game plans and game flows, making him a hit-or-miss fantasy option.

  • Jets' La'Mical Perine: One carry in Week 8 win

Perine rushed once for three yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Bengals.

Perine worked as New York's third-string running back with Tevin Coleman sidelined by a hamstring injury and could do so again if Coleman's not ready to go Thursday against the Colts. The Jets are content with their backfield timeshare between Michael Carter and Ty Johnson, leaving little to no playing time for Perine.
