Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ
Bears' Khalil Herbert: Splash play in TNF loss
Herbert rushed seven times for 75 yards and did not draw a target during the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday night.
A significant chunk of Herbert's production came on a 64-yard run in the Bears' first offensive play of the second quarter, one in which he got the ball down to the Commanders' six-yard line. However, Chicago would walk away empty-handed from that drive when Herbert was stopped twice for no gain inside the five-yard line, including on fourth down a yard shy of the end zone. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old now has three rushing tallies of at least 75 yards in the last four games, yet he seems destined to once again play a clear complementary role to David Montgomery in a Week 7 road matchup versus the Patriots on Monday night, Oct. 24.

David Montgomery RB | HOU
Bears' David Montgomery: Solid night in loss
Montgomery rushed 15 times for 67 yards and brought in his only target for 13 yards in the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday night. He also recovered a fumble.
Montgomery was once again the clear lead back in the Bears' ground attack, although Khalil Herbert actually outgained him with 75 yards -- 64 of those coming on one run. Montgomery's contributions were much steadier, and the third-year back was appreciably more efficient than in his Week 5 return from an ankle injury (12 carries, 20 yards). He'll now have extra time to recover from a busy last four days, as Chicago won't return to action until a Week 7 Monday night road matchup against the Patriots on Oct. 24.

Brian Robinson Jr. RB | ATL
Commanders' Brian Robinson: Scores TD in first start
Robinson rushed 17 times for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders' 12-7 win over the Bears on Thursday night.
The rookie had a tough time with efficiency against a surprisingly stout Bears front Thursday night, but he did put an exclamation point on his first pro start with a one-yard touchdown run with 7:21 remaining. The score was the first of Robinson's career following the delayed start to his rookie season due to leg injuries suffered in a late-August robbery attempt, but his workload Thursday night suggests there will be plenty more opportunity for him to visit the end zone moving forward. Robinson now will have extra time to rest up from having logged 26 touches in a span of four days, as the Commanders don't take the field again until they host the Packers a week from Sunday.

Rico Dowdle RB | PIT
Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Misses practice Thursday
Dowdle (ankle) was unable to practice Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Dowdle missed a second consecutive practice Thursday due to an ankle injury, and leaving his status for Sunday night's divisional showdown against the Eagles up in the air. Expect rookie running back Malik Davis to make his NFL debut against Philadelphia if Dowdle can't suit up.

James Conner RB | ARI
Cardinals' James Conner: Doesn't practice, may miss Week 6
Conner (ribs) didn't practice Thursday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
After sitting out Wednesday's walk-through session. Conner followed it up with another absence at an official session one day later, giving him just one more opportunity to join his teammates on the field this week. Considering his veteran status and familiarity with the offense, he may not need to practice to be available on game day, though Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports that Conner is expected to sit out Sunday's game in Seattle. Friday's injury report should provide more clarity on Conner's status one way or the other, but if he ends up sitting out this weekend, Eno Benjamin is in line to lead the Cardinals backfield. With Darrel Williams (knee) also unlikely to play, the team's other running backs are rookie sixth-round pick Keaontay Ingram and practice-squad members Corey Clement and Ty'Son Williams.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Logs limited practice
Mostert (knee) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Mostert didn't practice Wednesday, but the running back's return to the field Thursday has him trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Mostert indicated that his knee is fine and that he plans to play this weekend, a notion that could be solidified Friday if he heads into the weekend minus a Week 6 injury designation.
-
Alexander Mattison RB | MIA
Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Stays limited Thursday
Mattison (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
Mattison maintained his activity level from Wednesday's session, giving him just one more opportunity to get back to full this week. Even if he enters the weekend with a game-day designation, there's been no indication that he's in danger of sitting out Sunday at Miami. Assuming he's available, Mattison would be poised for modest work behind starting running back Dalvin Cook, which has amounted to 7.4 touches for 30.4 yards from scrimmage per game and two total TDs across five contests this season.
-
Mike Boone RB | MIA
Broncos' Mike Boone: Limited practice Thursday
Boone (foot) was listed as limited at practice Thursday.
The same goes for fellow running back Melvin Gordon (neck/ribs), with the Broncos having listed 18 players on their initial Week 6 injury report. Boone and Gordon now have two more chances to up their practice participation level in advance of Monday night's game against the Chargers, but assuming both are active for the contest, Boone will be in line to continue to handle his share of complementary work behind Gordon. In his team's Week 5 loss to the Colts, Boone carried seven times for 38 yards and caught all three of his targets for 47 yards.
-
Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Limited Thursday
Gordon (neck/ribs) was listed as limited at practice Thursday.
As was fellow running back Mike Boone (foot), with the duo among 12 players listed as limited by the Broncos on Thursday. Gordon, who has taken over as Denver's lead back with Javonte Williams (knee) out for the season, now will have two more chances to upgrade to full practice participation ahead of Monday night's game against the Chargers. If so, he should approach the contest minus an injury designation, as was the case leading up to his team's Week 5 loss to the Colts.

Nyheim Miller-Hines RB | NO
Colts' Nyheim Hines: Still limited at practice
Hines (concussion) remained limited at practice Thursday.
Per Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Hines continued to practice in a red non-contact jersey Thursday, suggesting that the running back has yet to fully clear the NFL's concussion protocols. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Hines and/or top back Jonathan Taylor (ankle, limited) approach Sunday's game against the Jaguars with injury designations or cleared for Week 6 action.
