  • Broncos' Javonte Williams: Avoids active/PUP list

Williams won't be placed on the active/PUP list to start training camp, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.

Williams was hoping to be ready for the start of training camp, and it appears that'll be the case, as he's avoided the PUP list for now. However, the running back's participation to begin camp remains unclear. Williams suffered season-ending ACL and LCL tears in Week 4 last year and was a limited participant during OTAs in May. He's previously mentioned that he'll continue to wear a brace on his surgically repaired right knee, and the Broncos will presumably be cautious during the preseason. Regardless, Williams appears on pace to be full go for Week 1 and will look to reclaim his form from 2021, when he tallied 203 carries for 903 yards and caught 43 passes for 316 yards as a rookie.

  • Greg Bell RB | PIT

    Greg Bell: Cut loose

Bell was waived by the Lions on Saturday.

The move coincides with the Lions signing running back Justin Jackson. Bell was placed on IR last August and missed the 2022 season with a hamstring injury. He'll look to catch on with another NFL roster as training camp begins.

  • Zonovan Knight RB | ARI

Jets' Zonovan Knight: Healthy for start of camp

Knight (undisclosed) is participating in training camp, Eric Allen and Ethan Greenberg of the Jets' official site report.

Knight missed most of OTAs due to an undisclosed injury, but he has healed up for the beginning of training camp. He rotated in on kick returns, as did fellow running backs Michael Carter and Travis Dye. The Jets also have Breece Hall (knee) -- who opened training camp on the PUP list -- and rookie fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda in the backfield, so Knight will need a strong performance in training camp and preseason to secure a roster spot after appearing in seven games with the Jets as a rookie in 2022.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Placed on active/PUP list

The Ravens placed Dobbins (undisclosed/knee) on the active/PUP list Friday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.

Dobbins was held out of June minicamp with a soft tissue injury, and he appears to still be working his way back to 100 percent. The Ravens are expected to be cautious with the 2020 second-round pick, who missed the entire 2021 campaign after tearing his ACL during training camp and was never able to hit his stride in 2022. The state of his current injury remains unclear, but Dobbins is eligible to practice and/or play at any point during the preseason.

  • Giants' James Robinson: Plans to join Big Blue

Robinson (undisclosed) is slated to sign with the Giants on Friday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Robinson presumably has to pass a physical before the deal is completed. The undrafted product out of Illinois State started 27 of 28 games for Jacksonville prior to tearing his Achilles late in Dec. 2021. He returned for Week 1 of 2022 and was productive through three games, totaling 263 yards and four scores, but he struggled after that and was eventually traded to the Jets. Robinson was a nonfactor for New York, but he still landed a two-year deal with the Patriots in March, only to be let go three months later. Nonetheless, Robinson is still only 25 years old and will have a chance to compete during training camp for a spot in the Giants' running back room, which could be in flux if Saquon Barkley opts not to join the team before Week 1.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Ravens' Melvin Gordon: Headed to Baltimore

Gordon agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $3.1 million with the Ravens on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

From 2020-2021, Gordon submitted back-to-back seasons with at least 900 rushing yards and totaled 20 touchdowns during that stretch. The veteran running back was competing for touches with Javonte Williams to begin 2022, but Gordon struggled with fumbling issues when given a full-time workload following Williams' season-ending injury and was ultimately released in mid-November. In Baltimore, Gordon figures to start out as a depth option behind J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, who are both expected to be healthy after battling serious injuries the past two years; however, the Wisconsin product could carve out a role if he can rectify his fumbling concerns, which have plagued him his entire career.

  • Breece Hall RB | NYJ

Jets' Breece Hall: Hits 23 mph on GPS

Hall (knee) reached 23 miles per hour while working out Thursday, Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports reports.

Coach Robert Saleh mentioned it while talking to reporters, adding that Hall looks "really good" and is trending toward being cleared for practice. The second-year pro is limited to individual drills, workouts and meetings for now, after the Jets placed him on the PUP list to start training camp. He technically can be kept on the list into the regular season, which would mean missing at least four games, but so far both Hall and Saleh have sounded optimistic about the running back's Week 1 availability. The Jets nonetheless are reported to have interest in free-agent RB Dalvin Cook, who would join a backfield that currently has Hall, Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight, fifth-round rookie Israel Abanikanda and undrafted rookie Travis Dye.

  • Isiah Pacheco RB | DET

Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: To be 100 percent for Week 1

Pacheco (hand/shoulder) said Thursday he will "absolutely" be 100 percent for Week 1 versus the Lions, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Pacheco continues to practice in a yellow non-contact jersey as he works his way back from offseason surgeries to address a broken hand and a torn labrum, but it looks like he has no real concerns about his regular-season availability. Barring any setbacks in his recovery, Pacheco looks to be facing a real opportunity to cement himself as the top man in Kansas City's backfield, which also houses Jerick McKinnon, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, La'Mical Perine and Deneric Prince. Coach Andy Reid previously said Pacheco could be a candidate to start training camp on the PUP list, so his participation level still warrants monitoring.

  • Lions' Mohamed Ibrahim: Contending for roster spot

Ibrahim showed enough during spring practices to be in the running for a roster spot, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

While Ibrahim went undrafted this spring, the hefty $100,000 guaranteed deal Detroit gave him is roughly equivalent to the compensation of a seventh-round draft pick. Even more promising for Ibrahim's chances of making the roster is the fact that Justin Jackson remains unsigned, which largely limits Ibrahim's competition for the No. 3 RB job to Craig Reynolds and Jermar Jefferson. With No. 1 running back Jahmyr Gibbs seemingly headed for Alvin Kamala-like usage, the winner of this competition could be an interesting fantasy option as the possible direct backup to David Montgomery (undisclosed), who is dealing with an injury entering training camp and has missed at least one game in each of the past three seasons.

  • Isiah Pacheco RB | DET

Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Gets in work Wednesday

Pacheco (hand/shoulder) worked out with Kansas City's quarterbacks and rookies Wednesday, Jesse Newell of The Kansas City Star reports.

Pacheco was on the field one day after head coach Andy Reid suggested that the second-year running back was a candidate to start training camp on the PUP list. According to Newell, Pacheco, who led the Chiefs with 830 rushing yards as a rookie, didn't mix into 7-on-7 drills and participated in much of Wednesday's session while sporting a yellow non-contact jersey. Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com notes that the team will limit Pacheco early on in training camp, but barring any setbacks, the 24-year-old will have an opportunity this summer to cement his status as the top option in a Kansas City backfield that also includes Jerick McKinnon, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, La'Mical Perine and Deneric Prince.
