Kenyan Drake RB | GB
Colts' Kenyan Drake: Five carries in preseason opener
Drake had five carries for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
Drake worked with the second team as he tries to win a final reserve roster spot after joining the Colts last week. He's a long shot to win a roster spot but may be needed with Zack Moss and Jonathan Taylor out due to injury.

Jake Funk RB | JAC
Colts' Jake Funk: Nine touches in preseason opener
Funk had seven carries for 13 yards, including a one-yard touchdown, and two receptions for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
Funk was the third running back to get a carry in the game, which may say more about Indy's running back depth than his chances to make the team. With Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss out due to injury, Funk may see a lot of work during the preseason. However, he may not make the final roster if Taylor returns to action.

Tank Bigsby RB | PHI
Jaguars' Tank Bigsby: Leads team in rushing
Bigsby rushed nine times for 52 yards in Saturday's 28-23 preseason win over the Cowboys.
Bigsby was already having a strong camp prior to Saturday's impressive rushing performance, drawing praise from coaches for his work in the film room. The rookie out of Auburn was the second back to enter the game behind Travis Etienne (five carries for 22 yards), so he hasn't jumped higher than potentially second on the depth chart as of now. With a 6-foot, 210-pound frame, Bigsby adds some size to Jacksonville's backfield, potentially warranting goal-line looks. The rookie's next chance to impress will come on the road against the Lions on Saturday.

Royce Freeman RB | CHI
Rams' Royce Freeman: Scores in Saturday's win
Freeman rushed seven times for 26 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target during the Rams' 34-17 preseason loss to the Chargers on Friday night.
The veteran recorded a three-yard scoring rush late in the third quarter, with Freeman the third running back into the contest for the Rams after Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans. The 27-year-old Freeman may need Los Angeles to keep four running backs in order to stick on the roster, so he'll have to continue making an impact during next Saturday night's preseason home matchup versus the Raiders in order to keep his chances strong.
-
Evan Hull RB | HOU
Colts' Evan Hull: Gets start in preseason opener
Hull had seven carries for 15 yards and two receptions for 18 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
Hull started the game at running back ahead of Deon Jackson in a mild surprise and held his own in his first professional game. With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Zack Moss (arm) sidelined, Hull could have a large role to begin the regular season. His first preseason game should give the Colts confidence he can be part of the mix at least as a pass catcher. The Northwestern product was an outstanding receiver out of the backfield with the Wildcats (55 receptions in 2022) .

Zach Evans RB | NYJ
Rams' Zach Evans: Spearheads ground attack Saturday
Evans rushed eight times for 34 yards in the Rams' 34-17 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday night.
The rookie sixth-round pick was the second running back for the Rams to log a touch behind the player that might be his primary competition for a roster spot, Ronnie Rivers. Evans finished with a team-high rushing yardage total, but he logged just three more yards than Rivers on two additional carries. Rivers is also capable of filling a returner role, so Evans will have to continue making a convincing case during next Saturday night's home preseason matchup against the Raiders.

Corey Clement RB | ARI
Cardinals' Corey Clement: Records nine touches Friday
Clement had six carries for 15 yards and hauled in all three targets for 13 yards during Friday's 18-17 preseason victory against the Broncos.
Clement handled the first touch of the game for the Cardinals (a five-yard connection with quarterback Colt McCoy) and received touches in three of the team's initial four possession. The overall output was nothing to write home about -- 2.5 yards per carry, 4.3 yards per catch -- but with James Conner and Keaontay Ingram (abdomen) unavailable, Clement may be the current leader for the No. 3 RB role in Arizona. Ty'Son Williams, Clement's main competitor, did have 10 rushes for 51 yards, but he got run in every quarter, while Clement was out of the game by the middle of the second quarter. Clement will continue to work toward locking down the aforementioned gig on Saturday, Aug. 19 versus the Chiefs.

Isaiah Spiller RB | LV
Chargers' Isaiah Spiller: Solid with seven touches Saturday
Spiller rushed five times for 27 yards and brought in both targets for 11 yards in the Chargers' 34-17 preseason win over the Rams on Saturday night.
The 2022 fourth-round pick was the second running back to receive a touch behind Joshua Kelley, with Spiller entering on the second possession of the game. Kelley, his primary competition for the No. 2 running back role, logged four more carries and gained twice as many rushing yards, but Spiller helped offset that to an extent with his pair of receptions. The job battle between the two will continue to unfold during a preseason home matchup against the Saints on Sunday night, Aug. 20.
-
Joshua Kelley RB | TEN
Chargers' Joshua Kelley: Efficient in preseason opener
Kelley rushed nine times for 54 yards and failed to bring in his only target during the Chargers' 34-17 preseason win over the Rams on Saturday night.
Kelley was the first Chargers running back with a touch Saturday night and ended up pacing the team in carries. The 2020 fourth-round pick's long run was only 13 yards, so he consistently generated solid gains during his time in the contest. Kelley has been afforded only modest opportunity during his first three seasons, and this summer, he's battling Isaiah Spiller for the No. 2 running back role behind Austin Ekeler. The job battle will continue in Los Angeles' second preseason contest Sunday night, Aug. 20 at home against the Saints.

Justice Hill RB | BAL
Ravens' Justice Hill: Game-long run in preseason opener
Hill rushed three times for 48 yards in the Ravens' 20-19 preseason win over the Eagles on Saturday night.
Hill got the first running back touch of the night for the Ravens and ended up with a game-high rushing yardage total thanks in large part to a 37-yard run. The 2019 fourth-round pick, who re-signed with the Ravens on a two-year deal this offseason, is likely to fill the No. 3 running back role once again this coming season unless veteran Melvin Gordon unexpectedly pushes him off the roster.
