  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Pair of scores after Dobbins exit

Hill rushed eight times for nine yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens' 25-9 win over the Texans on Sunday.

Hill received an unexpected bump in opportunity after J.K. Dobbins was forced from the game with what has now been confirmed as a season-ending Achilles tendon tear. The fourth-year back took advantage of the extra touches, recording his first two touchdowns since his rookie 2019 campaign on a pair of two-yard runs in the third quarter. Given Dobbins' unavailability the rest of the way, Hill should slot into a relatively consistent complementary role behind Gus Edwards, although there's a possibility Melvin Gordon and/or Owen Wright are summoned from the practice squad ahead of a Week 2 road matchup against the Bengals.

  • Jaguars' Travis Etienne: Seals win with late TD

Etienne carried the ball 18 times for 77 yards and a touchdown and caught all five of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Colts.

The running back had trouble finding running room early, but after a Tyson Campbell interception in the fourth quarter gave the Jaguars a chance to put the game away, Etienne broke free for a 26-yard TD scamper to score the final points of the afternoon. If there was a small yellow flag for his fantasy value, it's that rookie RB Tank Bigsby looked good in the red zone and scored a one-yard touchdown of his own, but the Jacksonville offense figures to be productive enough to give both backs opportunities to shine. Next up for Etienne and the Jags is a Week 2 matchup at home against a Kansas City defense still missing holdout DT Chris Jones, and which had trouble containing David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs in a Week 1 loss to the Lions.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Titans' Derrick Henry: Big play as pass catcher

Henry rushed the ball 15 times for 63 yards in Sunday's 16-15 loss to the Saints. He added two receptions on three targets for 56 yards.

Despite facing only a small deficit throughout the game, the Titans surprisingly abandoned the run in the second half, limiting Henry's workload. He made up for that with a few big plays, the longest of which came on a 46-yard gain on a screen pass late in the second quarter, ultimately setting up a field goal. Though his production came in an unexpected way, Henry put together a fine performance and should be more involved in Week 2 against the Chargers.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Ravens' Gus Edwards: Eight carries after Dobbins' exit

Edwards rushed eight times for 32 yards in the Ravens' 25-9 win over the Texans on Sunday.

The veteran backup was thrust into a larger role than expected when J.K. Dobbins was forced from the game with what has now been confirmed as a season-ending Achilles tendon tear. Edwards has never averaged under 5.0 yards per carry in his previous four seasons as a complementary option, but he'll now potentially have a chance for the heftiest workload of his career moving forward. Edwards could be in line to serve as the team's primary early-down back in a Week 2 road matchup against the Bengals, although Justice Hill should see his fair share of touches, and there's a possibility Melvin Gordon and/or Owen Wright are summoned from the practice squad.

  • Chiefs' Jerick McKinnon: Minimal impact in opener

McKinnon didn't record a carry but reeled in one of his two targets for 10 yards during Thursday's 21-20 loss to the Lions.

McKinnon is typically involved as a receiver, but he received just a pair of targets on 20 offensive snaps to open his 2023 campaign. He should continue to work in a committee with Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, working primarily as a receiving specialist.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Suffers season-ending Achilles' injury

Coach John Harbaugh confirmed Sunday that Dobbins has a torn Achilles and will miss the rest of the season.

With Dobbins out for the rest of the campaign, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next up for the team's carries going forward, while Melvin Gordon and Owen Wright are candidates to be elevated from Baltimore's practice squad ahead of Week 2 action..

  • Bijan Robinson RB | ATL

Falcons' Bijan Robinson: Logs 16 touches in debut

Robinson rushed 10 times for 56 yards and caught all six of his targets for 27 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Panthers.

Making his NFL regular-season debut, Robinson saw fewer rushing attempts than Tyler Allgeier, but as expected, the Robinson was heavily involved in the passing game, leading the team with six receptions. Fantasy managers who selected Robinson in the first round shouldn't be overly concerned with Allgeier's role in Week 1. While it's disappointing to cede goal-line snaps right away, Robinson will still get plenty of looks in the red zone as the season progresses and should be utilized in a multitude of ways as the season unfolds.

  • Tyler Allgeier RB | ARI

Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Scores twice in Week 1

Allgeier rushed 15 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 24-10 win over the Panthers. He also caught all three of his targets for 19 yards.

Allgeier finished with more rushing attempts and rushing yards than Bijan Robinson, and the two running backs accounted for all three of the Falcons' touchdowns. Overall, Allgeier recorded 18 touches for 94 yards, while Robinson finished with 16 touches for 83 yards. Robinson is certainly the more dynamic back, but Allgeier consistently gets the job done and figures to have a solid role in Atlanta's run-heavy attack moving forward. It's also extremely encouraging to see Allgeier involved in the passing game, as he caught three or more passes just three times across 16 appearances last year.

  • Najee Harris RB | LAC

Steelers' Najee Harris: Logs six carries in blowout loss

Harris rushed six times for 31 yards while securing both of his targets for two yards during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.

Harris was reportedly on track to share playing time with Jaylen Warren ahead of Sunday's matchup, but neither running back got much work during the regular-season opener since the Steelers fell behind early. Harris should see more work in closer games, but it's possible Warren also garners a role in the offense after logging three carries against San Francisco. The Steelers have a more favorable matchup against the Browns on tap in Week 2, although Cleveland's defense held the Bengals in check during the regular-season opener.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Torn Achilles feared

Dobbins is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday's game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Ravens ruled the running back out for the rest of the contest, and initial reports suggest that he could miss extended time, pending the result of an MRI. If Dobbins is indeed sidelined beyond Week 1, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next up for the team's carries, with Melvin Gordon and Owen Wright candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.
