Mayfield (undisclosed) could be able to gain clearance from the reserve/COVID-19 list in time to practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Mayfield's placement on the COVID-19 list came as a result of being in close proximity with an infected staff member, rather than the result of testing positive himself, so it's possible that he could be back on the field for Wednesday's practice. Such a quick turnaround would of course require Mayfield to continue testing negative and remain asymptomatic, but it would be beneficial for the third-year quarterback to get in a normal three-day practice week ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Texans.

Allen will undergo surgery to repair his dislocated/fractured left ankle and won't return this season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Allen's injury isn't as bad as it was initially feared, but he'll need surgery to repair the dislocation, which is expected to require a four-month recovery. Alex Smith will start under center Week 10 against the Lions, while 2019 first-rounder Dwayne Haskins serves as the backup for the time being. Allen's final stat line for the season reads 610 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception, plus 26 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The 24-year-old quarterback is expected to make a full recovery for the 2021 season, and he'll be an exclusive-rights free agent in March.

Coach Doug Marrone said Monday that Minshew (thumb) is "unlikely to be available" in Green Bay on Sunday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.

Minshew has yet to resume throwing as he works to recover from multiple fractures and a sprained ligament in his right thumb, and while the Jaguars have yet to offer an official timeframe for his return, it looks like he's trending in the wrong direction for Week 10. If Minshew indeed can't go in Green Bay, rookie sixth-round pick Jake Luton will get another opportunity under center. Luton impressed in his first NFL action against the Texans on Sunday, as he threw for 304 yards and one interception while accounting for two scores (one passing and one rushing).

With Gardner Minshew (thumb) trending in the wrong direction for Week 10, it looks like Luton will get another chance to prove himself under center, albeit against a Packers secondary that's proved much stingier than Houston's.

Allen (ankle) is expected to have surgery and could miss the rest of the season, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

The fracture in Allen's left ankle reportedly isn't too severe, but it sounds like the dislocation will require surgery, something he'd initially hoped to avoid. With the 24-year-old likely out for the rest of the season, Alex Smith will take over as the starting quarterback for Week 10 at Detroit. There's also a decent chance Dwayne Haskins gets another shot to play at some point this year.

Lock completed 25 of 48 passes with 313 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, adding seven rushes for 47 yards and an additional score during Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Falcons.

Lock has contributed six touchdowns over his past five quarters of play, though his team has only emerged victorious in one of the two contests involved -- that of course coming last week when he threw a walk-off one-yard TD pass to KJ Hamler. It is inarguable Lock has been a more explosive passer of late, with a 5:2 TD:INT ratio and 280.5 passing yards per game his past two outings. Weeks 1 through 7 Lock posted a combined 1:4 TD:INT, with 219.7 passing yards per game in the three outings he was able to complete during that span. The Missouri product has also pitched in via the ground recently, tallying rushing scores over two of the past three weeks. Upcoming next is a showdown with a Las Vegas defense that surrendered 326 passing yards and a pair of passing scores to the Chargers' Justin Herbert on Sunday.

Carr completed 13 of 23 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Chargers. He also gained 14 rushing yards on two carries.

It's the second straight game in which Carr has thrown for under 200 yards, but the sixth time in eight starts he's tossed multiple TDs. With the Raiders beginning to lean heavily on Josh Jacobs and the running game, Carr might have more low-volume afternoons ahead, but Week 10's clash with a Broncos defense that's been stingier on the ground than through the air could give him a chance to post better numbers.

Tannehill completed 10 of 21 pass attempts for 158 yards and two touchdowns in Week 9 against the Bears.

The Titans jumped out to a 17-0 lead by the end of the first half, limiting Tannehill to just eight pass attempts across the third and fourth quarters combined. He also lacked his usual efficiency, completing under 50 percent of his pass attempts for the first time this season. Even so, Tannehill played turnover-free football for the fourth time on the campaign, managing the Titans' to a win. He will draw a tough matchup against the Colts in Week 10.

Cousins completed 13 of 20 pass attempts for 220 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 9 against the Lions.

Cousins was limited by game script yet again and has combined to throw only 34 passes in the team's past two games. Even so, he managed his third three-touchdown performance of the season while also racking up 11 yards per attempt. The entire Vikings' offense has benefitted from the return of Dalvin Cook, who has kept the Vikings offense moving and played a significant role on drives that were capped by Cousins' passing scores. Cousins will likely be stuck in another slow-paced matchup in Week 10 against Chicago.

Tagovailoa completed 20 of 28 pass attempts for 248 yards and two touchdowns while adding 35 yards on seven carries during Sunday's 34-31 win over the Cardinals.

Tagovailoa completed an impressive 71 percent of his throws and averaged 8.9 yards per attempt. He completed touchdown passes to Preston Williams and Mack Hollins while also finishing just shy of the team lead in rushing. Tagovailoa was perhaps a bit overshadowed by Kyler Murray's gaudy numbers on the other side, but his own production jumped quite a bit after an underwhelming effort last week against the Rams. He's also led the team to a pair of victories since taking over under center and will look to continue his ascent next Sunday against a Chargers defense that hasn't lived up to expectations this year.
