  • Davis Mills QB | HOU

Texans' Davis Mills: Leads comeback effort

Mills completed 23 of his 33 passes for 301 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 28-25 loss to the Titans.

Mills led a vaillant comeback attempt, bringing the Texans back from down 21-0 to ultimately lose by only a field goal. He connected with five different pass catchers for gains of at least 20 yards-- two of which went for touchdowns. While Deshaun Watson's future with the team remains unclear, Mills has made the case to remain the starter in 2022 with the opportunity to prove himself as the long-term quarterback in Houston. Though his Week 17 performance was uninspiring, Mills started the team's last five games and averaged 7.4 yards per attempt with nine touchdowns compared to only two interceptions.

  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Shows promise in upset win

Lawrence completed 23 of 32 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts. He added 10 rushes for 17 yards.

Lawrence helped the Jaguars to an upset win and threw for multiple touchdowns for the first time since Week 1 in the process. He showed particular rapport with Marvin Jones, which culminated in a three-yard score late in the third quarter. While the Jaguars squandered good field position to settle for field goals on a few occasions, Lawrence averaged 7.0 yards per attempt and has hit that mark in three consecutive games to close the campaign. That's a relatively low mark when compared to even mediocre quarterbacks around the league, though Lawrence had accomplished that feat only three times in his first 14 games as a pro. His rookie season didn't go as planned, but Lawrence still showed flashes of promise to suggest that he is the franchise quarterback the Jaguars believed they were selecting with the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Starts hot, finishes poorly

Stafford completed 21 of 32 pass attempts for 238 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to the 49ers.

Stafford came out of the gates firing, completing his first nine pass attempts and finishing 15 of 16 with two scores in the first half. The 49ers made adjustments on both sides of the ball, limiting the Rams' passing game in the second half and securing victory in overtime. Despite the loss, the veteran quarterback finishes the regular season with one of the best efforts of his career. Stafford will carry final totals of 4,886 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions into the first round of the playoffs.

  • Kyler Murray QB | MIN

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Struggles in finale

Murray completed 28 of 39 pass attempts for 240 yards and one touchdown while running for 35 yards on five carries against Seattle on Sunday.

It's a disappointing showing from Murray in a game the Cardinals really wanted to win but got outgunned 37-30 at home. A defensive touchdown by the Cardinals made the game look a little closer than it was, and Murray particularly struggled to get the ball to any of his wide receivers. Despite the Arizona receivers being much bigger than the Seattle corners, Christian Kirk (two catches for 43 yards on three targets), A.J. Green (four catches for 23 yards on nine targets) and Antoine Wesley (two catches for 17 yards on four targets) were all duds. Having dealt with significant separate injuries in each of the last two years (shoulder in 2020, ankle in 2021) and general inconsistency at times in 2021, Murray hasn't been able to turn into the consistently dominant fantasy force his talent otherwise gives reason to expect. He'll try to sharpen up his game and get back in rhythm as the Cardinals begin their playoff run.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Panthers' Sam Darnold: Turns it over twice

Darnold completed 29 of 42 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Buccaneers. He also rushed eight times for 19 yards and lost a fumble.

Darnold threw his first touchdown pass since Week 6 by finding tailback Chuba Hubbard for a two-yard score to cap Carolina's opening drive. While he'd later add to his tally with an impressive 19-yard touchdown to Robby Anderson on a fourth-down play during the fourth quarter, Darnold subsequently coughed the ball up and was picked off. After a rough start to his career with the Jets, the 24-year-old's first season with the Panthers was also marred by turnovers, as Darnold was intercepted 13 times and lost two fumbles in 12 games played. Compared to just nine touchdown passes and five rushing scores, most of which came over the first four weeks, Darnold's underwhelming totals coincided with diminishing returns. With Carolina picking up his fifth-year option prior to the campaign, however, Darnold is under contract for next season. Whether he ultimately remains the starter or not, his decline as this season unfolded dampens his stock's outlook as he embarks on the offseason.

  • Ryan Tannehill QB | TEN

Titans' Ryan Tannehill: Lights up Texans

Tannehill completed 23 of 32 passes for 287 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Texans.

Tannehill led the Titans to the top seed in the AFC with his most impressive performance of the season. He threw for more than two touchdowns for the first time since Week 8, connecting with four different receivers for scores from three, four, five and 14 yards away. The Titans' game plan was regularly centered around the rushing attack and strong defense this season, in turn limiting Tannehill to only 21 touchdowns and 3,734 passing yards -- each of which was lower than his 2020 totals despite one extra contest. Even given that context, Tannehill was mistake-prone by throwing 14 interceptions -- more than his last two seasons combined. He'll look to clean up those mistakes as Tennessee begins its playoff push.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Produced four touchdowns

Wilson completed 15 of 26 pass attempts for 238 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while running for five yards and one touchdown against Arizona on Sunday.

It was a classic Russell Wilson box score: scoring often, including as a dual threat, while dealing with low-usage volume. To produce four touchdowns on 30 snaps isn't a common feat for most players, but with Wilson it's an old story by now. It's not clear whether that story will continue in Seattle, nor whether Seattle will keep the same coaching staff if Wilson does return. The veteran quarterback's situation is one to monitor in the offseason.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Three touchdowns in return

Cousins completed 14 of 22 passes for 250 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Bears.

Cousins returned from a one-game absence while on the reserve/COVID-19 list to end the season on a strong note. He led an impressive comeback, tossing three lengthy touchdowns that went for 44, 45 and 21 yards to three different receivers. Those explosive plays helped Cousins overcome a lack of volume, as his 22 pass attempts were his fewest on the campaign. Though Cousins is highly scrutinized, he's now reached 30 passing touchdowns and 4,000 passing yards in three of his last four seasons.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

Bengals' Brandon Allen: Mediocre in spot start

Allen completed 15 of 29 passes for 136 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Bengals' 21-16 loss to the Browns on Sunday. He also rushed once for three yards and committed a fumble that was recovered by the offense.

Allen drew the start for Joe Burrow (knee) and wasn't asked to do much. The 29-year-old was able to help Ja'Marr Chase set the rookie franchise receiving yardage record and also fired a touchdown throw to Chris Evans from four yards out with just over two minutes remaining in the contest. Burrow will be back under center when the Bengals begin the postseason with a wild-card game next weekend.

  • Jake Fromm QB | DET

Giants' Jake Fromm: Another poor showing in finale

Fromm completed 15 of 31 passes for 103 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in the Giants' 22-7 loss to Washington on Sunday. He also rushed five times for 53 yards and lost a fumble.

The young signal-caller was better than the last time he'd drawn a start Week 16, when he threw for all of 25 yards on a 35.3 percent completion rate before getting the hook. However, with Mike Glennon (wrist) unavailable Sunday, Fromm went the distance and did manage to throw his first career touchdown pass, a 22-yarder to Darius Slayton early in the fourth quarter. Given the forgettable results he generated in his few opportunities this season, it remains to be seen if the 2020 fifth-round pick of the Bills has any type of 2022 opportunity awaiting in New York.
