  • Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that Cowboys starters won't play in the preseason, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Schottenheimer didn't specify any particular players, but Prescott is the leader of Dallas' offense and will aim to ensure the unit is running on all cylinders by Week 1 against the Giants on Sunday, Sept. 13. Prescott likely will be joined by RB Javonte Williams, WRs CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens and TE Jake Ferguson, among others, on the sideline during exhibition action.

  • Prescott (knee) is participating in Wednesday's training camp session, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports. Prescott isn't wearing a brace on his leg or showing any signs of still managing the knee soreness that caused him to be limited during Dallas' mandatory minicamp back in June. It had been reported upon his initial injury disclosure that Prescott was expected to be a full-go for camp, which appears to be the case. The 33-year-old veteran will spend camp working to improve his chemistry with top wideouts CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in preparation for what's expected to be one of the league's top scoring offenses.

  • Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Managing sore knee
    By RotoWire

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Prescott will be limited at mandatory minicamp due to knee soreness, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports. Schottenheimer downplayed the severity of Prescott's injury, saying it's a "sore knee, nothing we're concerned about." By all appearances, Dallas is simply taking a cautious approach to the health of the veteran quarterback, who will turn 33 years old in July. It doesn't look like the team has any concerns about Prescott's availability for the start of training camp. Meanwhile, George Pickens has reported to mandatory minicamp after skipping the voluntary portion of the offseason program, though the wideout won't participate in any team drills, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

  • Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Clears up cap space
    By RotoWire

Prescott agreed to terms Wednesday on a restructured contract with the Cowboys, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Prescott and offensive lineman Tyler Smith's (knee) combined restructures free up $47 million in cap space for 2026, and Dallas is also expected to restructure CeeDee Lamb's deal. These restructures presumably involve converting future guarantees into signing bonuses. Prescott is entering his age-33 season fresh off a 2025 campaign in which he completed 67 percent of his passes for 4,552 yards and a 30:10 TD:INT, in addition to rushing 532 times for 177 yards and two scores. With the Cowboys having retained George Pickens for 2026 via the franchise tag and re-signed running back Javonte Williams (shoulder) to a three-year, $24 million deal, Prescott will benefit from significant continuity on offense in 2026.

  • Prescott completed seven of 11 passes for 70 yards and rushed twice for minus-1 yard, in addition to losing a fumble, in Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Giants. He finishes the 2025 season with 4,552 passing yards and a 30:10 TD:INT. Prescott came into the regular-season finale with the most passing yards, completions and pass attempts in the NFL. With the Cowboys eliminated from playoff contention, he didn't add much to those totals before being replaced by backup Joe Milton at halftime. Prescott is set to carry a cap hit slightly north of $74 million in 2026, but the Cowboys have little choice but to stick with the 32-year-old quarterback despite the team's lack of playoff success.
