  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Sitting out preseason opener

Gilgeous-Alexander will not play in Tuesday's preseason opener against the Pelicans, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.

Gilgeous-Alexander will travel with the team to Tulsa but won't see game action. The absence appears to be part of Oklahoma City's plan to manage its primary rotation players throughout a five-game preseason slate, and there's no injury to report.

  • Ben Simmons SG | SAC

Kings' Ben Simmons: Unlikely to debut Monday

Simmons (not injury related) is not expected to play in Monday's preseason game against the Lakers, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.

There is no injury to report, but Spears is hearing that the Kings want to ramp Simmons up cautiously. The point forward is targeting a return Oct. 8 against the Lakers or Oct. 10 against Golden State.

  • Nets' Joshua Jefferson: Dealing with back issue

Jefferson (lower back) is out for Tuesday's preseason game against Charlotte, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

The severity of the issue is unknown, but the Nets may be opting for caution during the preseason. The No. 28 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft will be looking to carve out a rotation role in a crowded frontcourt.

  • Nets' Mikel Brown: Sitting out for Tuesday

Brown (ankle) will miss Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.

Brown recently just began taking contact in practices and continues to trend in the right direction. His next chance to play comes Thursday against the 76ers in another exhibition.

  • Warriors' Brandon Williams: Speed impressing Warriors

Williams has made an early impression on the Warriors with his speed and ability to put pressure on opposing defenses, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Williams recorded 11 points (4-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 16 minutes during Sunday's preseason loss to the Clippers. Coach Steve Kerr has called Williams the fastest player he's coached with Golden State, and his ability to attack in transition and off high pick-and-rolls could give the Warriors a dimension they've lacked in recent seasons.

  • Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Frustrated by contract talks

Towns expressed frustration Sunday regarding his ongoing contract negotiations with the Knicks, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.

"Simply put, I want to do something that can keep the team together, and that can work with the Knicks and also values me," Towns said. "And, I mean, none of those things have come close to happening." Towns is eligible for a four-year extension worth roughly $277 million and has indicated a willingness to take less than the maximum to help New York retain its championship core, but the Knicks have reportedly offered around $200 million. The 30-year-old remains under contract for 2026-27 and holds a $61 million player option for 2027-28, so the stalled negotiations don't create an immediate availability concern.

  • Kris Dunn PG | LAC

Clippers' Kris Dunn: Minor role in preseason

Dunn recorded three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), one rebound, one steal and one block in six minutes off the bench during Sunday's 104-101 preseason win over Golden State.

Dunn saw only six minutes while Darius Garland handled the bulk of the point-guard duties with the first unit. However, Max Strus exited with an injury after starting at shooting guard, potentially opening additional opportunities for Dunn as the Clippers work through several early-season injuries.

  • Warriors' Gary Payton: Records two steals

Payton finished with six points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two steals and one assist in 11 minutes during Sunday's 104-101 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Payton made his usual impact defensively in limited action, recording two steals without committing a turnover. The 33-year-old re-signed with Golden State on a one-year deal during the offseason and should remain a situational defensive option in a crowded Warriors backcourt.

  • Jalen Suggs PG | ORL

Magic's Jalen Suggs: Dealing with illness

Suggs remains under the weather but appears to be improving, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Coach Sean Sweeney said Sunday that Suggs can do "a little bit, but not much" at the moment, though the expectation is that he'll ramp up his activity soon. With Orlando's preseason opener against Memphis set for Wednesday, Suggs' participation over the next couple of practices should provide a better indication of his availability.

  • Svi Mykhailiuk SF | UTA

Jazz's Svi Mykhailiuk: Hits three triples

Mykhailiuk recorded nine points (3-9 FG, 3-8 3Pt), three assists and no turnovers in 15 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 109-97 preseason win over Denver.

Most of Mykhailiuk's field-goal attempts came from beyond the arc, and he knocked down three triples as Utah consistently generated open looks through ball movement. The veteran wing remains primarily a floor-spacing option in a crowded Jazz rotation.
