• Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Could open camp with starters

  13H ago • By RotoWire

Lillard may open training camp with Portland's starting group, according to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire. With Lillard coming off an Achilles injury and now with a questionable fit alongside Ja Morant, the Portland backcourt has been one of the league's top camp storylines. The Trail Blazers open their preseason Wednesday against Golden State, and perhaps their first exhibition starting lineup will offer a hint to their plans for the regular season. Jrue Holiday is already expected to spend more time on the wing, so Portland could experiment with three-guard lineups featuring Lillard, Morant and Holiday at times.

Lillard (Achilles) is expected to enter training camp without limitations, according to Jason Quick of The Athletic. Toumani Camara has matched up with Lillard during pre-camp workouts and was particularly impressed by the veteran guard's first step and speed following his lengthy rehabilitation. Lillard appears to be making significant progress ahead of his return to game action, though his workload and availability during the preseason will still be worth monitoring.

• Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Wins 3-Point Contest

  02/14/2026 • By RotoWire

Lillard (Achilles) defeated Devin Booker (ankle) and Kon Knueppel in the final round of Saturday's 2026 State Farm 3-Point Contest, taking home his third title. After losing to Tyler Herro (ribs) in 2025, Lillard won his third 3-Point Contest in four years. He's now tied with Larry Bird and Craig Hodges for the most 3-Point Contest wins in NBA history. The star point guard posted 27 points in the first round and 29 in the second, when he beat Booker by two and Knueppel by 12. Lillard knocked down seven of his final 10 shots in Round 2 and made one shot from the logo. The 35-year-old is still recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon he sustained with the Bucks in the opening round of the playoffs last season, and he'll aim to return to action for Portland by the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

• Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Appearing in 3-Point Contest

  02/12/2026 • By RotoWire

Lillard (Achilles) is scheduled to participate Saturday in the 2026 State Farm 3-Point Contest at All-Star weekend in Los Angeles. While he isn't on track to play in games at any point this season after undergoing surgery May 2 to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, Lillard is thus far moving along in his rehab program as anticipated and evidently made enough progress for the Trail Blazers to sign off on him taking part in All-Star festivities. Earlier this week, Lillard was reluctant to provide many details about where he stands in his recovery process, but he's posted social media videos throughout the season that have shown him shooting, sprinting and dunking, per Jason Quick of The Athletic. After taking part in the 3-Point Contest, Lillard could be cleared to practice in some fashion before the end of the season, which would likely set the stage for him to be a full participant at the beginning of training camp next fall.

• Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Not expected to play this season

  09/25/2025 • By RotoWire

Lillard (Achilles) won't be back on the court for the 2025-26 season, as he made clear during an interview with YouTube influencer iShowSpeed on Wednesday. Lillard underwent surgery on a torn Achilles tendon in his left foot over the summer after suffering the injury during the first round of the NBA playoffs with the Bucks against the Pacers. The veteran guard was then waived by Milwaukee on July 1, making him an unrestricted free agent. The future Hall of Famer then decided to return to the Blazers on a three-year contract worth $42 million with a player option for the 2027-28 season. He also has a no-trade clause in his deal.
