  • Parker Meadows CF | DET

Tigers' Parker Meadows: Hitting bench Wednesday

Meadows is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Matt Vierling will receive the starting nod in center field while Meadows sits for just the second time in the Tigers' first 12 games. With five hits over his previous four starts, Meadows has raised his season average from .167 up to .267.

  • Angel Martinez LF | CLE

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Big day in big win

Martinez went 4-for-5 with a double, a grand slam and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-2 rout of the Royals.

Getting the start in left field and batting second against southpaw Cole Ragans (thumb), Martinez's big blow came in the eighth inning, when he capped a five-run frame by dropping a slider from right-hander Steven Cruz into the right-field seats with the bases loaded. It was Martinez's first homer and first RBI of the year, and after a 3-for-21 (.143) start to the season he's racked up six hits in the last two contests.

  • Bryan Woo SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryan Woo: Stuck with first loss

Woo (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.

Woo pitched well for the most part Wednesday, holding Texas off the board through four innings. However, he'd run into trouble in the fifth, allowing three consecutive one-out hits before giving up a pair of runs on a Connor Joe error. The Rangers would tack on a third run in the frame on a Corey Seager sacrifice fly. While he remains without a win through three starts, Woo's gotten off to another strong start in 2026, allowing just three earned runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 17 over 18 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Padres on the road in his next outing.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Red Sox's Sonny Gray: Fires 6.1 scoreless frames

Gray (2-0) earned the win Wednesday versus the Brewers, allowing three hits and two walks over 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two.

The veteran right-hander induced just seven whiffs on 90 pitches (53 strikes) but gave up only two singles and a double to Milwaukee. It's the second straight quality start and victory for Gray, who now has a 2.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB over 16.1 innings through his first three outings with the Red Sox.

  • Matt Festa RP | CLE

Guardians' Matt Festa: Falls into first save

Festa walked one and struck out one in 1.1 scoreless innings of relief Wednesday to record his first save of the season in a 10-2 win over the Royals.

The right-hander got the final out of the eighth inning with the Guardians ahead 5-2, then watched his offense erupt for five more runs in the bottom of the frame, eliminating the need for closer Cade Smith to work the ninth. Festa has had a bumpy beginning to the season, getting tagged for runs in two of his five appearances, but Wednesday's usage was encouraging, even before he backed into the save. Through six innings, he sports a 6.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 5:1 K:BB.

  • Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Checking back into starting nine

Carpenter (illness) will start in right field and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Though Carpenter remained out of the starting nine for a second straight day during Tuesday's 4-2 loss while he battled a stomach illness, he was able to come off the bench for a pinch-hit appearance. Carpenter has now been deemed healthy enough to play a full nine-inning game, and the Tigers' decision to use him in the outfield rather than at designated hitter offers further evidence that he's close to 100 percent.

  • Joey Cantillo SP | CLE

Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Fans nine in first win of 2026

Cantillo (1-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 10-2 rout of the Royals, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.

The southpaw dominated over 88 pitches (54 strikes), racking up 32 called or swinging strikes along the way. Cantillo fell just short of his first quality start of 2026, but he's had an impressive beginning to the campaign, posting a 2.45 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB through 14.2 innings over three outings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come on the road early next week in St. Louis.

  • Cole Winn SP | TEX

Rangers' Cole Winn: Notches save Wednesday

Winn earned the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Mariners, allowing one hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Winn became the third Rangers pitcher to record a save this season as he worked around a leadoff single to cap the shutout victory. Texas' ninth-inning plan has been fluid early this year, as Winn, Jakob Junis, Chris Martin and Robert Garcia are in the mix for closing duties. However, Winn is certainly making his case for the job -- after posting a 1.51 ERA over 41.2 innings last year, the right-hander has delivered 5.1 scoreless frames to open the 2026 campaign.

  • Nick Yorke 3B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Yorke: On base four times Wednesday

Yorke went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Padres.

Getting the start at third base before shifting across the diamond to first in the eighth inning, Yorke accounted for half of the Pirates' hits on the afternoon, including a leadoff single in the seventh that left his bat at 109.8 mph. The 24-year-old worked hard this offseason to improve the quality of his contact, both by getting physically stronger and by tweaking his swing mechanics, and so far it seems to be paying off. Yorke has begun 2026 by batting .381 (8-for-21) with two doubles, three runs, two RBI and more walks (five) than strikeouts (four). He's currently splitting starts at the hot corner with Nick Gonzales while Jared Triolo (knee) is on the shelf, but Yorke could push for a bigger share of the playing time if he keeps scalding the ball.

  • MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX

Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Dominant in second win

Gore (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

Gore turned in his best outing of the young season Wednesday, as he mowed through the Seattle lineup before leaving the game after five innings and 82 pitches while punching out nine in a second straight outing. Through three starts with Texas, Gore's ERA sits at 2.76 with an impressive 0.86 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB across 16.1 innings. The left-hander is currently lined up to face the A's on the road his next time out.
