Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Recalled from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Gelof from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
He's taking the roster spot of the injured Brent Rooker (oblique). Gelof was slashing a blistering .366/.519/.732 with four home runs, three steals and a 13:7 BB:K at hitter-friendly Las Vegas. While those numbers are encouraging, Gelof's .205/.264/.348 line with a 36.1 percent strikeout rate since 2024 with the A's is not. He could see some action at designated hitter and/or second base while Rooker is out.

Brent Rooker DH | ATH
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Shelved by strained oblique
The Athletics placed Rooker on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right oblique strain.
Rooker suffered the injury on a swing during Thursday's game against the Yankees. He will be eligible for activation April 20, though oblique strains often require longer than minimum stints on the IL. Carlos Cortes is getting a start at designated hitter for the Athletics on Friday against the Mets in the team's first game without Rooker.

Drew Rasmussen SP | TB
Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Lined up to start Sunday
Rasmussen (paternity) is tentatively slated to rejoin the Tampa Bay rotation Sunday versus the Yankees, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.
Rasmussen remains on the paternity list, but he'll need to be activated Saturday, and the hope is that he'll be ready to go for Sunday's series finale. If that happens, Shane McClanahan would be pushed back to make his next start Tuesday against the White Sox following the team's off day Monday. Rasmussen has permitted two runs with a 10:1 K:BB over his first 10 innings this season.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Mets' Jorge Polanco: Diagnosed with Achilles bursitis
Polanco underwent an MRI on Thursday and has been diagnosed with Achilles bursitis, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
It's good news for Polanco, as he will not require a stint on the injured list and is expected to be available off the bench Friday against the Athletics. With Polanco getting the night off Friday, Ronny Mauricio is starting at third base, and Bo Bichette will serve as the designated hitter. Through his first 45 plate appearances with the Mets, Polanco is slashing .200/.289/.275 with three doubles, one RBI, two runs scored and a 5:6 BB:K.

Juan Brito SS | CLE
Guardians' Juan Brito: Making third straight start
Brito will start at second base and bat sixth in Friday's game versus Atlanta.
The switch-hitting Brito started each of the first two games against lefties upon his promotion, and he will remain in the lineup as Atlanta sends righty Bryce Elder to the bump. Brito is 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles in the early going and could continue to see regular playing time at second base while Brayan Rocchio shifts over to shortstop to cover for the injured Gabriel Arias (hamstring).

Chandler Simpson CF | TB
Rays' Chandler Simpson: Ascends to leadoff spot
Simpson will start in left field and bat leadoff in Friday's game versus the Yankees.
Simpson spent some time in the leadoff spot for the Rays last season, but this is the first time this year that he's sitting atop the batting order. The speedster earned a move up by slashing .391/.429/.435 with five stolen bases over his first 49 plate appearances this season. Yandy Diaz -- who had hit leadoff in the Rays' first 12 games -- is in the cleanup spot.

Deyvison De Los Santos 1B | MIA
Marlins' Deyvison De Los Santos: Recalled from Triple-A
The Marlins recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.
This was the expected move after Griffin Conine suffered a torn left hamstring Thursday, necessitating a move to the 10-day injured list. De Los Santos made his major-league debut earlier this season, appearing in one game, and went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double.

Griffin Conine RF | MIA
Marlins' Griffin Conine: Officially sent to injured list
The Marlins placed Conine on the 10-day injured list Friday with a torn left hamstring.
Conine was forced from Thursday's series finale against the Reds when he was injured trying to make a diving grab in the outfield. The severity of Conine's tear isn't yet known, but he's likely looking at an absence that extends beyond the 10 days. Deyvison De Los Santos has been recalled in a corresponding move.
