  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Leaves with left hamstring tightness

Rodriguez's injury that forced him to be removed from Tuesday's game is being called left hamstring tightness, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

Rodriguez was spinning a gem at the time of his removal, having not allowed a hit nor run while striking out seven through four-plus innings.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Leaves game with apparent injury

Rodriguez left Tuesday's game in the fifth inning with an apparent injury, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

It wasn't obvious what was ailing Rodriguez but he left the field with a trainer two pitches into the fifth, having not allowed a hit nor a run through the first four frames. Matt Barnes was called upon to pitch in relief.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Slated for bullpen session Thursday

Paxton (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The M's were forced to make a DL move with Paxton on Tuesday (retroactive to Aug. 8), but if he makes it through Thursday's bullpen and a subsequent live session, he should return next week shortly after his 15 days are up. Cody Martin will serve as Seattle's fifth starter on a temporary basis.

  • Astros' Lance McCullers: Will remain shut down for another week

McCullers (elbow) will not throw for another week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Now close to two weeks into his DL stay, McCullers remains shut down from throwing and it will be another week before he even picks up a baseball. From there, McCullers will need to gradually ramp up his throwing, ultimately facing live hitters before heading out on a rehab assignment. It seems safe to assume at this point that he won't be back until after rosters expand.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Lands on 15-day DL

Paxton (elbow) was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, retroactive to Aug. 8.

Things were trending in this direction as Paxton was ruled out for Tuesday's start due to lingering forearm tightness, and the Mariners went ahead and made the move, recalling Cody Martin to fill Paxton's roster spot. It's uncertain if Martin or Joe Wieland will toe the rubber Wednesday. With a backdated stint, Paxton will be eligible to return as soon as Aug. 23.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Will undergo surgery, miss 2017 season

Eovaldi (elbow) is dealing with a partially torn UCL and a completely torn flexor tendon in his pitching arm, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports. He will undergo surgery to repair both injuries.

There was concern about Eovaldi's health as of Friday when he was sent in for an MRI that revealed an injury severe enough to land the flame thrower on the DL. Tuesday's official diagnosis confirms that Eovaldi is dealing with a significant injuries to multiple ligaments and tendons. According to ESPN's Wallace Matthews, Eovaldi will miss all of the 2017 season.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Rays' Alex Cobb: Making sixth rehab start Tuesday

Cobb (elbow) will make his sixth rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Cobb was lit up his last time out, surrendering four earned runs on eight hits, including two homers, over three innings against Pawtucket. He'd yielded just two earned runs over the six innings encompassing his three prior appearances, so the poor outing may ultimately prove to be an outlier. The 28-year-old still retains a chance of a callup to the big league club before the campaign concludes.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Takes 10th loss against Mariners

Nolasco (4-10) allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings in a loss Monday to the Mariners.

Nolasco has been predictably mediocre since he was dealt to the Angels. Despite a solid 13:4 K:BB, Nolasco has now allowed a 5.19 EERA and 1.38 WHIP over 17.1 innings. He was tagged for a home run by Nelson Cruz, giving Nolasco four homers allowed in just three starts. Too many hits and too many homers -- these are the same problems he had in Minnesota and has had for much of his career, and there's little reason to expect that he'll turn it around now.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Evens record with win Monday

Perez (8-8) evened his record by holding Oakland to two runs (one earned) on five hits, with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings in a win Monday.

Perez got his act together nicely after allowing a run in each of the first two innings, and was rewarded with his first in nine starts. He seems to be clear of that rough patch after holding the opposition to exactly one earned run in three of those last starts, but still has just one road win in 2016. That doesn't bode well for his chances Sunday in Tampa Bay.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rays' Drew Smyly: Dominates for seven innings

Smyly (5-11) was dominant in a winning effort on Monday, allowing just one run in seven innings. He surrendered just one hit, walked two, and struck out four against the Padres.

Smyly allowed a first-inning homer to Alexei Ramirez and then proceeded to hold the Padres hitless for the next six innings. The lefty has had his share of troubles this season, but in his last five starts he has allowed a total of just eight runs. Smyly will try to keep his hot streak in tact when he takes the mound against the Rangers on Sunday.
