Kahnle (forearm) will likely require Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a UCL issue, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Kahnle was unavailable for Thursday's game and placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, but manager Aaron Boone revealed that the right-hander will likely require surgery to fix his significant injury. The 30-year-old will undergo further testing to confirm the need for surgery, but Kahnle will miss all of 2020 and most or all of next season if he indeed requires surgery.

Pressly (elbow) could be available for Saturday's game against the Angels, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Pressly hasn't appeared in a game for the Astros this season as he deals with elbow soreness, but manager Dusty Baker said that the right-hander could be available Saturday. However, Roberto Osuna has a firm hold on the closer's role despite his absence for the first several games.

Lopez was placed on the bereavement list Friday.

Lopez had made one appearance out of the bullpen to begin the season, but he'll now miss several days while on the bereavement list. The right-hander allowed two runs on three hits while recording two outs in his one relief appearance so far this year.

Rodney signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 43-year-old spent most of 2019 with Washington and had a 4.05 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 35:16 K:BB over 33.1 innings, and he remained unsigned throughout the elongated offseason. It would be Rodney's 18th season in the big leagues should he make his way to the major-league roster.

Bolanos will start Saturday's game against the White Sox, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old will make his second start of the season with Mike Montgomery (lat) on the injured list and Brad Keller and Jakob Junis not yet ready after arriving late to summer camp due to COVID-19. Bolanos allowed two unearned runs on three hits and one walk with one strikeout over two innings during his first outing, and he's unlikely to have the workload of a traditional starter Saturday.

Kahnle was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with right forearm tightness, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander hasn't seen game action since making his season debut Sunday, and he remains without a timetable for his return. According to James Wagner of The New York Times, Kahnle underwent an MRI on Friday and is scheduled to be evaluated by the team doctor later in the day.

Jurado was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Friday.

The 24-year-old was unable to secure a spot on the team's Opening Day roster and doesn't appear close to rejoining the big-league club. Jurado made 32 appearances (18 starts) for Texas in 2019 and had a 5.81 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 81:36 K:BB across 122.1 innings.

Loaisiga (1-0) earned the win against Baltimore on Thursday, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out four.

Four days after throwing three innings as a starter, Loaisiga was brought on in relief to start the sixth inning Thursday. A two-run homer off the bat of Pedro Severino in the eighth frame saddled Loaisiga with a blown save, but the Yankees responded with three runs in the top of the ninth to help the right-hander earn his first win. Loaisiga threw 45 pitches in the outing, only six less than in Sunday's start, and he figures to fill a similar long-relief role moving forward with Masahiro Tanaka (concussion) ready to return to the rotation.

Chapman (illness) cleared the league's COVID-19 protocols and can rejoin the Yankees, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

The veteran southpaw joined the Yankees early in summer camp but was placed on the COVID-19 injured list July 11 after testing positive and showing mild symptoms. Chapman should head to the team's alternate training site to begin participating in workouts, though he figures to require some time before reaching game readiness. Zack Britton has two early season saves and should continue operating as the fill-in closer until Chapman is ready for game action.

Merryweather is progressing well in his recovery from an oblique strain and could be a depth option for the Blue Jays before too long, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Merryweather has been dealing with the injury since mid-July. Even when healthy, he isn't expected to play a major role for Toronto, as he's yet to make his big-league debut and struggled to a 6.58 ERA in his only taste of Triple-A baseball back in 2017 before missing most of the past two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
