  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Remains out Sunday

Jimenez (foot) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.

Manager Rick Renteria said Jimenez was unlikely to play this weekend after suffering the mild right foot sprain Thursday, and he's been held out of the lineup all three games, as expected. Assuming he won't appear off the bench, the 23-year-old finishes 2020 with a .296/.332/.559 slash line, 14 homers, 26 runs and 41 RBI in 55 games. According to Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald, Renteria indicated Jimenez looks "much better" Sunday and is cautiously optimistic he'll be ready for the start of the playoffs Tuesday.

  • Miguel Cabrera DH | DET

Tigers' Miguel Cabrera: Not starting Sunday

Cabrera is out of the lineup Sunday against the Royals, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera receives the day off in what could be the final game of the season, but he'll be good to go should Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals be deemed necessary. Christin Stewart will serve as the designated hitter while Jorge Bonifacio starts in left field Sunday.

  • Phillies' Andrew McCutchen: Nearly hits for cycle

McCutchen went 4-for-5 with a home run, an RBI and three runs scored Saturday against the Rays but the Phillies still lost, 4-3.

McCutchen led the way offensively for the Phillies, as he put up a four-hit night that was highlighted by a fifth-inning solo home run to left. The 33-year-old is hitting .258/.329/.441 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI in 56 games, as he's had a nice bounceback season after suffering a torn ACL in June of 2019.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Two-hit performance Saturday

Belt went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Saturday's loss against San Diego.

Belt started another hitting streak and has hit safely in seven of the Giants' last eight games. Despite enduring a slow start to the season, Belt will end the 2020 campaign as one of San Francisco's top offensive threats. He enters the final game of the year hitting .315 with a 1.032 OPS, each of which are career-best marks for the 32-year-old veteran.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Launches three-run homer

Pederson went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's win over the Angels.

Pederson went deep for the first time since Sept. 4, but he is hitting a meager .147 in 12 games this month and enters the final game of the regular season hitting well below the Mendoza Line at .185 with a career-worst .671 OPS in 42 games.

  • Brewers' Daniel Vogelbach: Homers Saturday

Vogelbach went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-0 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Vogelbach took Adam Wainwright deep to the opposite field in the fourth as he and Ryan Braun went back-to-back in the inning to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead. Vogelbach seems to have found a home in Milwaukee as he's hitting .345/.429/.600 with four home runs, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored in 18 games since being claimed by the Brewers on Sept 3.

  • Nick Solak 1B | PIT

Rangers' Nick Solak: Collects three hits

Solak went 3-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a stolen base Saturday as the Rangers beat the Astros 6-1.

Solak reached base successfully in all four plate appearances Saturday and drove home Joey Gallo in the sixth to give his team a 1-0 lead. The 25-year-old is hitting .267/.326/.345 with 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 57 games.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Optimism for return remains strong

Choi (hamstring) went through what manager Kevin Cash labeled a "lighter day" of workouts Saturday, and optimism remains high for his availability early in the postseason, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Choi ran the bases and hit live pitching Friday, and although he wasn't as active Saturday, he remains on track to suit up sooner rather than later. Cash noted Choi and fellow injured infielder Yandy Diaz will have a more comprehensive workout again Monday, at which point there will be more clarity on both players for a postseason that begins Tuesday.

  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mariners' Luis Torrens: Heads to bench for second game

Torrens is not in the lineup for the second half of Saturday's doubleheader against Oakland, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Torrens went 0-for-4 in the first game of the day, though the Mariners likely wouldn't have asked him to catch twice on the same day regardless of how the afternoon game went. Joseph Odom will start behind the plate in his absence.

  • Kyle Lewis DH | ARI

Mariners' Kyle Lewis: On bench for evening game

Lewis is not in the lineup for the second half of Saturday's doubleheader against Oakland, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Lewis went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the day's first game. Braden Bishop takes over in center field in the nightcap.
