Twins' Brent Rooker: Slugs another homer in loss
Rooker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run Wednesday in the Twins' 17-14 loss to the Tigers.
The home run was Rooker's third in four games and one of seven on the day for Minnesota. With a 1.271 OPS in six starts for Minnesota since his July 23 call-up, Rooker looks secure in an everyday role at either designated hitter or in the corner outfield.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Not starting Thursday

Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, two walks, and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Rockies.
Ohtani reached base in all but one plate appearance Wednesday, starting with a base knock in the first. He came around to score that inning to give the Angels their first run of the game. The 26-year-old then delivered his league-best 37th home run in the fourth. Ohtani has an extra-base hit in four of his last five games and has seven RBI over that span. Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR
White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Pulled as precaution
Jimenez exited Wednesday's game with right groin tightness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to departing.
The team called the removal precautionary. Given that Jimenez made his season-debut Monday after recovering from a serious shoulder injury, it makes sense that the team is proceeding with caution. Gavin Sheets entered the game to replace Jimenez.

Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM
Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Gets Wednesday off
Choi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Choi will take a seat after he went 6-for-16 with a pair of home runs, two doubles and six RBI while starting at first base in each of the past four games. He'll cede first base to Yandy Diaz with a lefty (Nestor Cortes) on the hill for the Yankees, but the lefty-hitting Choi should remain a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching.

Pederson was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to an upset stomach, but he'll return to action following a one-game absence. Across his last four starts, he's gone 7-for-17 with a home run, a double, five RBI, three runs and five strikeouts.
