  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mariners' Jesse Winker: Three hits in win

Winker went 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI in Thursday's victory over the Orioles.

Winker started the game with a leadoff double and added an RBI single in the third. Thursday's performance marked the left-hander's second three-hit game and his second contest with multiple extra-base hits this season. Across his first 50 games with Seattle, Winker is slashing .220/.302/.623 with just two homers and 19 RBI.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | TOR

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Closing in on return

Jimenez (hamstring) could be activated from the injured list during the White Sox's next homestand, which begins June 7, Julia Kreuz of MLB.com reports.

Jimenez was in the lineup at Triple-A Charlotte as the designated hitter both Wednesday and Thursday, a good sign that he's getting close to a return after a brief setback. He has yet to play in the outfield on his rehab assignment, something the White Sox presumably would like to have him do prior to being activated. He has collected three hits in 11 at-bats with Charlotte.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Yankees' Matt Carpenter: Slugs third homer

Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Angels.

Carpenter led off the bottom of the first inning with his third home run of the season -- each of which has come since he joined the Yankees on May 26. While he's had a more powerful impact than anticipated, it is worth noting that the long balls are his only three hits across 16 at-bats. Carpenter is also likely to find playing more difficult to come by if Giancarlo Stanton (ankle) is activated Saturday as expected.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Serving as DH in nightcap

Ohtani is serving as the designated hitter in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Ohtani was the starting pitcher during Thursday's matinee, and he allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two in three innings to take the loss. He also went 1-for-5 with two strikeouts at the plate, and he'll remain in the lineup as the designated hitter and bat second during the second game of the twin bill. Ohtani's usage during the doubleheader marks the first time since 1945 that a player has served as the starting pitcher in a matinee before starting the second game of a twin bill as a non-pitcher.

  • Ji-Man Choi 1B | NYM

Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Sits against left-hander

Choi isn't starting Thursday's game against Texas, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Choi will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three games since left-hander Taylor Hearn is on the mound for the Rangers. Francisco Mejia will serve as the designated hitter while Harold Ramirez starts at first base.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Drives in three in win

Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.

His bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth inning proved to be the game-winning hit. Alvarez has reeled off multiple hits in four straight games and five of the last six, boosting his slash line on the season to .272/.367/.574 with 14 homers, 30 runs and 31 RBI in 45 contests.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Drives home winning run

Morel went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 4-3 win against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Morel led off the Cubs' half of the first inning with a walk, then took part in a double steal and came around to score on an errant throw. He made his presence felt again in the 10th frame, lofting a sacrifice fly to plate the winning run. Morel's 11-game hitting streak came to an end in the victory, but he showed that he can make an impact regardless. He's been particularly valuable on the basepaths of late, stealing five bases across his past seven games.

  • Bryce Harper DH | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Could return Friday

Harper (forearm) is scheduled to receive additional treatment Thursday, and manager Joe Girardi hopes the reigning National League MVP will be back in the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Angels, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Harper was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to soreness in his right forearm, but the Phillies hope his absence will be limited to one game. The 29-year-old has been serving as Philadelphia's designated hitter while dealing with a sprained UCL in his right elbow, though he did miss a week in mid-May after receiving a PRP injection. Harper should be considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's scheduled off day.

  • Jorge Soler DH | LAA

Marlins' Jorge Soler: Scores thrice in blowout

Soler went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in a 14-1 win over the Rockies in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Soler was right at the heart of the Marlins' powerful offensive output in the afternoon contest. After hitting well for much of May, the outfielder now has five multi-hit efforts in his last 10 games. He's up to a .225/.314/.479 slash line with 11 homers, 27 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles in 44 games this season.

  • Pirates' Daniel Vogelbach: Slated to run bases

Vogelbach (hamstring) will go through a baserunning progression Wednesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Vogelbach has been on the injured list with a left hamstring strain for just over a week, but it's encouraging that he's been cleared to run the bases. However, the Pirates haven't yet revealed when the 29-year-old will be able to return to game action. Michael Chavis and Josh VanMeter should continue to see playing time at first base while Vogelbach is sidelined.
