    Phillies' Bryce Harper: Homers twice in win

    Harper went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI, a walk and another run scored in Friday's 9-6 win over the Giants.

    With one out in the fifth, Harper swung at the first pitch he saw from Tyler Beede and launched a solo homer. He then put the Phillies back on top in the seventh with a 456-foot, three-run shot into the cove at Oracle Park. It was his first multi-homer game of the year, bringing his season slash line to .252/.371/.478 with 22 home runs, 78 RBI and 69 runs scored.

    Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Cranks two homers

    Martinez went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored Friday against the Angels.

    Martinez doubled home a run in the first inning and then struck again in the fourth with a two-run homer. He closed out his night with a solo blast over the fence in right center, putting the Red Sox up 11-4. The 31-year-old has been red hot at the dish of late, turning in five straight multi-hit performances. He's registered three homers and six RBI over that stretch.

    Cardinals' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs 22nd homer

    Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Pirates.

    The 28-year-old slugger has gone yard in back-to-back games, giving Ozuna 22 homers on the year -- just one short of last year's total in 64 fewer contests. His .840 OPS is also the second-best mark of his career, behind only his massive 2017 campaign, when he posted a .924 OPS with 37 home runs.

    Cabrera went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored Friday against the Royals.

    Cabrera extended his team's lead to two in the fifth inning with an RBI single to left field. The two-time MVP sits with eight home runs and 46 RBI over 101 games this season for the Tigers.

    Giants' Brandon Belt: Sitting vs. southpaw

    Belt isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

    Belt is headed for the bench with a lefty in Drew Smyly set to take the hill for the opposition. Buster Posey will shift to first base with Belt out of the lineup.

    Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Benched vs. lefty

    Pederson isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

    Pederson will head to the bench with left-hander Robbie Ray slated to toe the rubber for the opposition. Cody Bellinger is set to man right field with Pederson riding the pine.

    Rays' Ji-Man Choi: Sitting against southpaw

    Choi is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

    Choi will take a seat Friday with left-hander Marco Gonzales on the bump for Seattle. Jesus Aguilar will start at first base in his place Friday.

    Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Hitting sixth Friday

    Carpenter (foot) is starting at third base and hitting sixth Friday against the Pirates.

    He left Wednesday's game after getting hit on the foot by a pitch, and apparently Thursday's off day was enough for him to get right for this weekend's series. Carpenter is hitting .241 with zero extra-base hits and 12 strikeouts in 29 at-bats since the All-Star break.

    Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Out of action Friday

    Ramirez is not in Friday's lineup against the Braves, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

    This is the second time in a row that Ramirez has been out of the lineup with a right-handed pitcher starting for the opposition. In this case, Julio Teheran is starting for Atlanta and Curtis Granderson will start in left field and hit eighth for Miami.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Slugs 24th homer

    Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Thursday's loss to the Padres.

    Blackmon doubled and scored in the third inning and temporarily tied the game with a solo shot in the fifth. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a hot start to August, hitting .407 (11-for-27) with three homers and three doubles. He possesses one of the most extreme home-road splits in baseball, batting an eye-popping .418 with 17 long balls in Colorado while falling to .250 with seven homers on the road.
