Mariners' Luis Torrens: Shipped to Seattle

Torrens was traded from the Padres to the Mariners on Sunday as part of a seven-player trade, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Torrens was recalled from the Padres' alternate training site in the middle of August and went 3-for-11 with a double and two strikeouts over seven games. He could compete for playing time with the major-league club in Seattle after the Mariners included Austin Nola as part of Sunday's trade.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Angels' Shohei Ohtani: Picks up another steal

Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Ohtani walked in the first inning and notched his fifth stolen base of the season in quick succession. He later added a single in the third. Through 27 games, the 26-year-old is slashing .181/.277/.381 with five homers, 18 RBI and 15 runs scored to go with his five steals.

Mariners' Kyle Lewis: Scores both runs in win

Lewis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Angels.

Lewis opened the scoring with his solo shot off Angels starter Griffin Canning in the seventh inning. In the 10th, Lewis came around to score on a Tim Lopes single after starting the inning on second base. The 25-year-old Lewis is slashing .339/.430/.543 with eight homers, 21 RBI, 29 runs scored and two stolen bases through 35 games this season.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Goes yard in win

Dickerson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI single in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Dickerson opened the scoring with his long ball off Diamondbacks starter Taylor Clarke in the first inning. In the eighth, Dickerson restored the Giants' lead by plating Brandon Crawford with a bases-loaded single. He then exited the contest for a pinch runner. The 30-year-old Dickerson is slashing .221/.299/.395 with four homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored through 30 games this season. He'll likely continue to see playing time on the strong side of a platoon with Darin Ruf in left field.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Ready to return

Manager Don Mattingly said Sunday that Ramirez is ready to return from the COVID-19 injured list, but the Marlins are currently facing a roster crunch that leaves the outfielder in limbo for the time being, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

Miami has already had to clear room for several other players to return from the COVID-19 IL in recent days, and because he would be in line to fill a lightly-used reserve role in the outfield upon his reinstatement, Ramirez's addition to the active roster hasn't been a high priority for the team. Ramirez's activation could come soon if Jesus Aguilar (back) is forced to the IL, but Ramirez would likely still be blocked from an everyday role in that scenario.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

    Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: X-rays negative

Martinez (hand) underwent X-rays that came back negative, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Martinez was hit by a pitch on his left hand and forced out of Sunday's contest, but he appears to have avoided a major injury. Manager Ron Roenicke said after the game that Martinez is currently day-to-day.

  • J.D. Martinez DH | NYM

Red Sox's J.D. Martinez: Exits with apparent injury

Martinez left Sunday's win against the Nationals after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Martinez was removed from the game in the bottom of the eighth inning immediately after he suffered his hand injury. The severity of the issue is unclear. Martinez went 1-for-4 with one strikeout prior to suffering the injury.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Cardinals' Brad Miller: Elite on-base percentage

Miller, who drew three walks and scored a run over five plate appearances in an extra-innings loss to the Indians on Saturday, now has a 15-game on-base streak and an elite .477 on-base percentage.

The veteran is enjoying the best offensive season of his career overall, further evidenced by a .327 average and elite 1.048 OPS across 65 plate appearances. Aiding Miller's cause greatly is a career-high 21.5 percent walk rate, a modest 16.9 percent strikeout rate and a career-best 30.8 percent line-drive rate. Miller has gotten an opportunity to play regularly in the wake of the Cardinals' multiple COVID-19 infections, but even now that most of those are by the wayside, the 30-year-old continues to force manager Mike Shildt's hand with his outstanding offensive production.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: May DH on Tuesday

Manager Dave Roberts said the "best-case scenario" is to have Turner (hamstring) serve as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

The veteran third baseman hasn't seen game action since exiting Friday's game against the Rangers with a hamstring injury. Given Roberts' description, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team play it safe and hold Turner out of the lineup again Tuesday if he isn't 100 percent.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Ejected from nightcap

Winker was ejected from Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader agianst the Cubs, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The benches cleared during the fourth inning, resulting in Winker, Joey Votto and manager David Bell getting tossed for the Reds. Winker went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer and a walk between the two games prior to the ejection.
