  • Luis Torrens C | NYM

Mets' Luis Torrens: Goes yard again Wednesday

Torrens went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to Atlanta.

The 30-year-old catcher got the Mets on the board in the sixth inning by taking Tyler Mahle deep. Torrens is up to five homers on the season, and three of them have come in August -- on the month he's batting .375 (6-for-16) with eight RBI while starting five of the team's 11 games.

  • Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Productive in Wednesday's win

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Getting the start at DH and batting sixth, Ramirez lashed an RBI double in the third inning that chased Carmen Mlodzinski from the game, his first extra-base hit since returning to the majors early this month. Ramirez has made only three starts in eight games since his promotion, two at DH and one at catcher, but he's batting .357 (5-for-14) during that span. If he keeps producing when he gets the chance, the 24-year-old should see his playing time creep up. There could be more opportunities available in the 1B/DH mix as well with Kyle Stowers (hamstring) having landed on the IL on Tuesday.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Three more hits Wednesday

Baldwin went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's win over the Mets.

All three hits were singles, but it was still another solid night for Baldwin, who's produced multiple knocks in four of his last eight games. The 25-year-old backstop hasn't homered since July 24, however, and over that 18-game drought he's batting .278 (20-for-72) with just two doubles and five RBI.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

    Brewers' Gary Sanchez: Homers Wednesday

Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI double in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Padres.

Sanchez opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-out, solo shot off Robbie Ray, his 10th long ball this season. Sanchez, who's gone 5-for-11 with two homers and two doubles in his last five games, got the start behind the plate Wednesday, though he's primarily been limited to starts against left-handed pitchers or pinch-hitting duties. Overall, Sanchez is slashing .230/.379/.473 across 206 plate appearances this year with 31 runs scored and 29 RBI.

  • Dodgers' Hunter Feduccia: Smacks third homer

Feduccia went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Royals.

Feduccia has gone 9-for-36 (.250) with a homer and four doubles over 16 games since the All-Star break. He's sharing the catching duties with Ben Rortvedt while Will Smith (neck) and Dalton Rushing (elbow) are sidelined. Feduccia and Rortvedt are likely competing for one spot on the roster once Smith is healthy. Overall, Feduccia is batting .237 with a .665 OPS, three homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 176 plate appearances.

  • Liam Hicks C | TB

Rays' Liam Hicks: Sparks offense in Wednesday's win

Hicks went 3-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the A's.

Hicks' fourth-inning shot off Jack Perkins broke open what had been a close contest, and it gave the former Marlin his second homer in eight games as a member of the Rays. Since coming over to the AL, Hicks has gone 8-for-26 (.308) with three doubles, three runs, nine RBI and an impressive 4:1 BB:K.

  • Drew Romo C | CHW

White Sox's Drew Romo: Pops homer in win

Romo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Reds.

Romo hit a solo shot in the third inning and an RBI single in the eighth. Prior to the two-RBI effort, Romo had gone 0-for-13 with five strikeouts over his first four games in August. Since Joey Bart joined Kyle Teel (ankle) on the injured list Friday after fracturing his right hand, Romo has made two starts to Edgar Quero's three, though all of Quero's have come against left-handed pitching. The two backstops will likely continue to split time fairly equitably, though Wednesday's performance could boost Romo's chances of emerging as the preferred option against right-handed pitching. For the season, Romo is batting just .136 with a .508 OPS, six home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and one stolen base over 48 contests.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Role shrinking with Rutschman back

Wong is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Wong is on the bench for the second straight game and is expected to see his playing time take a major hit after the Red Sox activated their big trade-deadline pickup, Adley Rutschman, off the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Rutschman should handle a near-everyday role behind the plate now that he's healthy again, likely leaving Wong in line for little more than a start or two per week.

  • Angels' Tyler Heineman: Sitting Wednesday

Heineman isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Heineman will retreat to the bench after going 0-for-3 at the plate across the first two games of the series. Moises Ballesteros will fill in as the Angels' backstop, moving Zach Neto into the DH spot while Oswald Peraza starts at short.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Sitting again Wednesday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

The switch-hitting Ruiz has fairly even splits against right- and left-handed pitching both this season and throughout his career, but he'll still sit against a southpaw starter (David Peterson) for the second straight day. The Nationals may just have wanted to open up another start at catcher for the 23-year-old Harry Ford, who bats from the right side and had fared better against lefties at Triple-A Rochester this season prior to being recalled July 17.
