Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera will begin participating in baseball-related activities early this week, reports The Tampa Tribune.
Cabrera is on the disabled list with a hamstring injury. The Rays expect Cabrera to be activated in late July.

Carter is hitless in his last seven games (18 at-bats). He has one RBI, three walks and eight strikeouts in that span.

Indians first baseman Carlos Santana filled up the box score in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Reds. Santana went 2 for 3 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI, a run scored and stolen base in the victory.
Santana drove in the only run that didn't score on a home run for the Indians with an RBI double in the third inning. He now has 16 doubles and 40 RBI on the season. The stolen base was his sixth in seven attempts.

Right fielder Kole Calhoun gave the Angels all the offense they would need on Saturday. Calhoun belted a pair of solo home runs, en route to the 3-0 win over the Red Sox.
This was the first career multi-home run game for Calhoun, who also singled and walked in the game, reaching base in all five plate-appearances on Saturday. He now has 12 longballs on the year and five in his last 10 games.

Braves president of baseball operations John Hart said first baseman Freddie Freeman could start his rehab assignment Sunday or Monday, reports AJC.com.
"Freddie's going through the rehab, he's feeling better," Hart said. "We're going to attempt to get him out and let him start doing a few more things where he can go live, and maybe get him in some games, and then just see where it goes from here. But there was a level of optimism here in the last couple of days, where it looks like it's starting to work itself out."
Freeman is on the disabled list with a wrist injury and he is not expected to return until the first week of August.
"I think this weekend is going to be big for him in terms of where we're at come Monday," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "Can he go down to Orlando and start working himself into some kind of baseball shape. Talking to him, he felt that [the wrist] is kind of turning the corner a little bit on him."

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBI in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Giants.
Goldschmidt drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. His second RBI came on another sacrifice fly in the third inning. He also walked once.
Goldschmidt is hitting .268 with one home run and seven RBI in his last 11 games.

Astros first baseman Chris Carter left Friday's game in the second inning after injuring his ankle on a play at first base. Jon Singleton came in to replace him following the injury.
Carter was attempting to catch a poor throw from Jose Altuve, and injured the ankle on the play. The Astros have classified the injury as a right ankle sprain, and his availability for Saturday's game is in question.
