    Kole Calhoun could be activated Wednesday

    Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

    Calhoun is dealing with an ankle injury, but has been playing rehab games in the minors. He was a candidate to be activated Tuesday, but was still listed on the Triple-A roster. Calhoun hit .260 over 60 at-bats before the injury.

    Jose Abreu to wear boot for several days

    White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will wear a boot for the next several days and be re-evaluated during the team's homestand, CSNChicago.com reports.

    The White Sox return home for a 10-game homestand Thursday. Abreu is on the disabled list with tendinitis in his ankle. The team is moving cautiously with its breakout star.

    Chris Carter bashes sixth home run

    Astros designated hitter Chris Carter clubbed his sixth home run Sunday against the White Sox.

    Carter got things going in his first at-bat. He belted an 89 mph fastball off John Danks for the solo shot to lead off the second inning. It was Carter's only hit of the game. He finished 1 for 4, with one run scored and one RBI. Carter is hitting .196 in 138 at-bats.

    Jose Abreu to have MRI on ankle

    White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will have an MRI on his injured ankle, according to CSNChicago.

    The club is just being cautious with Abreu, and wants to make sure there's nothing more serious going on with the injury. He's currently expected to return once his 15-day stint is over. General manager Rick Hahn explained that the team will make sure everything is fine now that Abreu is on the DL.  "Since we do now have 15 days, we’re going to take our time to exhaust the possibilities," Hahn said.

    Abreu is hitting .260, with 15 home runs, in 173 at-bats.

    Jose Abreu placed on 15-day disabled list

    White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has been placed on the disabled list Sunday.

    Abreu is dealing with tendinitis in his ankle. He's been able to play through the issue for a few weeks, but needed to be removed from Saturday's game for a pinch hitter. Abreu is hitting .260, with 15 home runs, over 173 at-bats.

    Carlos Santana dropped to seventh

    Indians third baseman Carlos Santana has been dropped to seventh in the batting order Sunday against the Athletics.

    Santana has had a tough time getting things going at the plate. Through 147 at-bats, he's hitting just .156. Santana has hit in the clean up spot in all 42 games he's played this year.

    Jose Abreu's ankle could cost him Sunday

    White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu tweaked a lingering ankle issue in Saturday's game against the Astros, and it could keep him out of the lineup for the series finale Sunday.

    Abreu appeared to be limping following a late at-bat, and told MLB.com he might not be able to play Sunday. He said the ankle felt worse Saturday than in previous days, and he might try to rest it.

    Abreu finished Saturday's game 0 for 3 with an RBI as the designated hitter, but had to be replaced late. He is hitting .260/.312/.595 as a rookiw.

    Kole Calhoun records two hits in first rehab game

    Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun began a minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake Friday. He finished 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored while leading off and playing right field in his first game action since suffering an ankle injury. He is expected to return from the disabled list on Tuesday.

  • Chris Colabello benched Friday against Seattle

    Twins outfielder and April phenom Chris Colabello is out of the lineup for the Friday game against the visiting Mariners.

    Colabello will get more time off if he continues to hit like he has since May 9. He is hitless in 18 at-bats since then and hasn't had a multi-hit game since April 23. His average has dropped from .346 to .238 during that stretch.

    Kole Calhoun expects to return Tuesday, following rehab

    Angels outfielder Kole Calhoun will begin a minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake Friday, as he continues to work his way back from a sprained ankle.

    According to the Orange County Register, Kalhoun expects to be back from the disabled list Tuesday, assuming he avoids a setback while on rehab. Kalhoun was hitting .250/.297/.500 in 60 at-bats before suffering the injury in mid-April.
