  • Bears' Darnell Wright: Fifth-year option excercised

The Bears picked up the fifth-year option connected to Wright's rookie contract Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Wright will remain on the roster an additional year before further negotiations are required, now set to make almost $6.7 million in 2026 and $19 million in 2027 on the offensive tackle's fifth-year option. The right tackle is coming off a 2025 second-team All-Pro season, and the opportunity to retain the standout 24-year-old's services should help the Bears maintain strong run blocking and pass protection into 2026.

  • Bears' Darnell Wright: All set for SNF

Wright (illness) is active for Sunday night's contest against the 49ers.

Wright is good to go after being a late-week addition to the injury report with an illness Saturday. The 24-year-old will operate in his starting role at right tackle versus San Francisco.

  • Bears' Darnell Wright: Late addition to injury report

The Bears announced Saturday that Wright (illness) has been added to the injury report and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Wright appears to have contracted an illness Saturday, making his status up in the air for Week 17. Official word on the starting right tackle's availability, or lack thereof, will arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Theo Benedet will likely have to operate as one of Chicago's starting tackles if Wright is unable to play.

  • Bears' Darnell Wright: Green light to play Monday

Wright (elbow) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's game against Washington.

Wright was a full participant in Saturday's practice, which was enough for the Bears to clear Wright to play Monday after he was sidelined for Chicago's Week 4 win over Las Vegas. He'll reclaim his starting job at right tackle while Theo Benedet and rookie second-rounder Ozzy Trapilo provide depth at the position.

  • Bears' Darnell Wright: Out for Week 4

Wright (elbow) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

With Wright out, either Theo Benedet or rookie Ozzy Trapilo figures to draw the start at right tackle for Chicago. Wright will have next week's bye to heal up ahead of a Week 6 game at Washington.

  • Bears' Darnell Wright: Dealing with elbow injury

Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters that Wright injured his elbow during Sunday's 31-14 win over the Cowboys, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

While Johnson relayed the injury isn't a long-term concern, Wright's practice participation over the coming week will determine his availability for the Bears' Week 4 clash against the Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 28. Theo Benedet and rookie second-rounder Ozzy Trapilo would be candidates to start at right tackle if Wright were to miss time.
